Brazilian Defender Cicinho Keen On Roma Renewal
The Brazilian full-back could return to action next weekend and has stated that his future lies in Rome.
Cicinho suffered a seemingly serious knee injury during Roma’s Serie A game with Genoa on February 8, however, he seems to have recovered earlier than anticipated and could play a part in next Saturday’s clash with Siena at the Stadio Olimpico.
“I feel good and, if [coach Luciano] Spalletti wants, I am ready to play,” Cicinho told the Corriere dello Sport. There were rumours over the summer that the ex-Real Madrid man had not settled in the Italian capital and was keen to seek a fresh start,
but he has been quick to dispel these.
“I love it here in Rome and I want to remain as long as possible, hopefully winning something important,” he admitted.
“My wife did struggle settling down and used to cry because she felt nostalgia for Brazil. These issues rubbed off on my job at Trigoria.
“But everything is okay now. My wife feels good and my son is starting to become a Romanista: he always sings ‘Roma, Roma, Roma’ when he comes back from school!
“My rapport with the coach is also great and I have no doubts that Roma is my present and, if the club want, my future. My contract expires in 2012, but I hope to renew it very soon.”
