Acquafresca’s Future Still Unclear
Cagliari president Massimo Cellino revealed that Roberto Acquafresca’s purchase will have to "go through the envelopes" as his side have proved unable to reach an agreement with Inter to sign the player.
Acquafresca must still wait to find out what his future holds as the Rossoblu and the Nerazzurri have not agreed on a transfer fee, so the co-ownership deal will have to be solved with bids via sealed envelopes in accordance with league rules.
"It was not possible an agreement with Inter," confirmed the Sardinian side's president.
"We are forced to go to the envelopes and we shall do our best to keep him," he promised.
Cellino then explained the decision not to extend Ballardini's contract as coach of Cagliari following an impressive second part of the season which allowed the team to avoid what was looking like certain relegation.
"Ballardini and I were afraid that we would not be able to repeat the same feat," concluded Cellino.
