According to Sport Informations-Dienstes (sid), the German international will extend his stay at the Allianz Arena until 30 June 2012. His current deal is due to expire this summer.
The 24-year-old had been attracting the attention of Juventus, Inter Milan and Real Madrid, but the Bundesliga club will be breathing a huge sigh of relief that one of their top stars has agreed to stay at the club.
‘Schweini’ has been at the club since 1998 and has won four league titles as well as four German Cups.
He has also become a firm fixture in the German national side and was part of the team that finished third in the 2006 World Cup on home-soil.
