Live Commentary

  • FULL TIME. Mike Dean brings an excellent game to an end, Wolves deservedly get their first victory in eight games. Wolves dominated the game against a surprisingly lacklustre Man City who seemingly had no answer to the committed all-action display of their opponents. The result should move Wolves out of the drop zone, for Mancini and his men the knives will be out. Mark Hughes only lasted until December last year. Excellent 2-1 victory for Wolves.
  • 90' + 1'
    Yellow Card Mario Balotelli
  • 90'
Four minutes are generously added on. City just pumping hopeful long balls into the box for the moment.
  • 88'
    SubstitutionMatt Jarvis Steven Mouyokolo
  • 88'
What a time for Hahnemann to catch his first thing all day. The keeper has been a bit flappy this afternoon but he gathers a City corner confidently to the screams and hollers of the Molineux faithful.
  • 87'
    Yellow Card Pablo Zabaleta
  • 87'
McCarthy attempts to wind down the clock with another substitution. This time Matt Jarvis who has been excellent for Wolves this afternoon is brought off for Stephen Mouyokolo.
  • 86'
Not a pretty challenge from Zabaleta who is half an hour late on Foley. The challenge typifies this stodgy City second half display as the substitute quite rightly is booked.
  • 84'
    SubstitutionMicah Richards
  • 84'
Michael Mancienne replaces the goalscorer Nenad Milijas and Jo comes on for Micah Richards as City look to chase a point which at the moment looks very unlikely.
  • 83'
    SubstitutionNenad Milijas Michael Mancienne
  • 82'
City just don't seem to want the ball at the moment as they dally on the ball far too much.
  • 80'
10 minutes to go and City have the ball but don't seem to want to do anything with it slow passing along the back line allows Doyle to get back and clear the ball. The Irishman has put a real shift in today.
  • 77'
    SubstitutionEmmanuel Adebayor Pablo Zabaleta
  • 76'
Emmanuel Adebayor comes off for Pablo Zabaleta. Anyone else think that is pretty strange? The Togo man hasn't had is best day at the office but when chasing the game it seems he would be more likely to score than a defender. Perhaps Mancini knows something we don't...

Emmanuel Adebayor comes off for Pablo Zabaleta. Anyone else think that is pretty strange? The Togo man hasn't had is best day at the office but when chasing the game it seems he would be more likely to score than a defender. Perhaps Mancini knows something we don't...
  • 75'
Wolves finally get hold of it and crucially keep it, passing the ball around the keeper and defenders much to the delight of the crowd.
  • 72'
A good chance goes begging for City and Adebayor. Y. Toure goes on a barmstorming run from his own half and plays in Johnson on the right hand side who expertly cuts the ball back for Adebayor who blasts way over the bar. Probably not the last chance of the game for City though.
  • 70'
Johnson has made an immediate impact on the game for City as he has become the focal point for their attacks. Elokobi will have a lot to do in the final 20 minutes, keeping Johnson quiet.
  • 68'
    SubstitutionGareth Barry Adam Johnson
  • 67'
Mancini plays his first card, Gareth Barry is taken off for England winger Adam Johnson. Wolves' goal could be under siege for the final quarter of this game.
  • 65'
    SubstitutionStephen Hunt George Elokobi
  • 65'
Left back Ward is moved into a more forward role as Elokobi takes over the full back duties. It suggests that McCarthy is trying to hold for the draw.
  • 65'
Stephen Hunt comes off to be replaced by George Elokobi. Is that a bit negative from Mick McCarthy?
  • 62'
Funny game this isn't it? City are now camped in Wolves' half trying to get an equaliser. The build up is too slow and the corner is easily gotten rid of.
  • 59'
    Yellow Card Stephen Hunt
  • 59'
City trying to exert some authority and Wolves are still pushing me forward. Silva is given too much space to run into before releasing a daisy-cutter from 20 yards which is finger-tipped wide of the goal.
  • 57'
    Goal David Edwards
  • 56'
GOAL! Deserved goal for the home side. Once again excellent work down the right from Jarvis whose cross is spooned in the air from Toure, Doyle's shot is parried straight into the path of the waiting Edwards who wrong foots Hart with a simple finish. Wolves second bottom and City title chasers? Not a chance of it!
  • 55'
Wolves still controlling the tempo of the game. Slow patient build up the order of the day for Wolves at the moment. City can't get hold of the ball.
  • 51'
Wolves trying to force themselves upon City once again as the title-challengers try to settle things down.
  • 45'
We are back under way here at Molineux.
  • HALF TIME! A competitive first half is brought to an end with the score 1-1. Nenad Milijas's excellent qualiser cancelled out Emannuel Adebayor's penalty. Wolves more than deserve to be on level terms and on another day would have been ahead.
  • 41'
It only takes a second to score a goal, Wolves are seemingly on top but a hopeful long ball forward from Boateng is dealt with terribly by Hahnemann. The USA keeper comes for the ball and misses completely as Adebayor gets some contact on the ball only to see it drift just wide.
  • 37'
Mr Adebayor has a history of falling out with team mates during games. You can add today to this as he and Yaya Toure have a heated discussion in the middle of the pitch. Adebayor is having to be calmed down by Mancini.
  • 35'
City look shocked as Wolves continue to dominate.
  • 32'
Wolves looking the better of the two sides now as Mancini looks worryingly on. Jarvis floats a ball which just evades Doyle and Hunt. Molineux is rocking.
  • 30'
    Assist Matt Jarvis
  • 30'
    Goal Nenad Milijas
  • 30'
Wolves have reacted well. Patient build up as Hunt has the ball down the right, a deflected cross finds it's way into the path of Milijas 20 yards out and his drive is expertly slammed into the corner. Hart got a hand on it but couldn't stop it.
  • 27'
So close to an equaliser for Wolves. Edwards climbs above the giant City defenders and beats Joe Hart only for the ball to cannon back off the post. Great response from the Wolves players.
  • 23'
    Assist David Silva
  • 23'
    Penalty Goal Emmanuel Adebayor
  • 23'
Adebayor takes the penalty taking responsibilty in the absence of Tevez and the Togo hitman cooly sends Hahnemann the wrong way.
  • 22'
Boateng plays an excellent through ball to Silva who is going nowhere before an tricky back heel beats Ward who takes away Silva's ankles. Definite penalty.
  • 20'
The Wolves game plan is clear as they again look to catch City out with a quick counter-attack but it's cut out easily by Boateng.
  • 18'
Balotelli has a reputation of being a touch petulent at times. This game will not convince anyone otherwise as he looks to complain at any given moment.
  • 15'
Wolves getting themselves back into the game as they try and get the ball forward to Doyle as much as possible.
  • 11'
Welcome to the Premier League Mr Balotelli, the Italian reacts angrily from a tackle from Wolves skipper Henry. Nothing wrong with the challenge according to the referee.
  • 8'
Better from Wolves as they are trying to keep hold of the ball. City still look dangerous on the counter though.
  • 5'
City look in the mood here. The front three are inter-changing nicely to confuse the Wolves defence. Neat one-two between Balotelli and Adebayor ends with a rasping Balotelli drive over the bar. Wolves need to settle into the game quickly.
  • 3'
Big chance. Milner is given too much space on the right hand side and his ball is beautifully waited for Balotelli's run only for the young Italian to shoot just wide. Would have been some way to signal you're first start in the Premier League.
  • 2'
Pace already looking like it could be key for City as Adebayor races up the touchline 60 yards only for his cut back to go straight to Berra.
  • 1'
Manchester City get the game under way in front of a rather quiet Molineux crowd.
  • Tenacious City midfielder Nigel De Jong pulled up short in training so City boss Roberto Mancini goes with a different looking side which was already without the services of star striker Carlos Tevez. Mario Balotelli comes into the side and creates a real physical presence alongside Adebayor up front.
  • Wolves were widely praised for their performance in defeat against the Champions Chelsea last week and will be look to returning winger Stephen Hunt as inspiration for them.
  • Manchester City line-up: Hart Richards Kompany Toure Boateng Milner Barry Silva Yaya Toure Adebayor Balotelli Subs: Given, Zabaleta, Lescott Wright-Phillips, Johnson, Vieira, Jo
