Could do little about either goal as he was let down by the defence in front of him.
Failed to close down Sahin in midfield before the opening goal but in the 20 minutes he was on the pitch kept the ball well and performed tidily. Still not fully fit after his knee problems.
Never got tight enough to Barrios when he had to pick the Paraguayan up. Not up to the standard of Kjaer at his best.
Was caught in no man's land for the opener as Barrios ghosted in between both centre-backs. Booked for dragging back Goetze and had his worst game since his comeback without Kjaer alongside him.
Too slow to react to Barrios' shot before the second goal though perhaps didn't want to unsight Benaglio. That said, overall was the most secure of the Wolfsburg back four as he limited the attacking impact of Grosskreutz.
Allowed Goetze to get in behind him for the opening two goals as he was caught too far up field for the first and for the second was beaten for pace. Made some decent runs going forward.
Came close to opening the scoring in the first minute with a free-kick and had a decent long shot but didn't exert enough influence upon the game.
Vital header off the line early on and he was getting stuck into the tackle - looked really up for the game but at times was a little off the pace due to the quick feet of the likes of Goetze and Sahin.
Full of running but lacks a quality delivery into the area from the right-hand side. It's hard to justify the amount of playing time he is afforded. Put one great cross in but his impact was too few and far between.
Like a lost sheep without Dzeko, he seemed bereft of confidence. His touch wasn't the greatest and his dynamism was just not there.
Was well marshalled by Subotic and did not therefore have the chance to link up frequently with Grafite. Taken off at half-time as he was not fully fit after a broken toe.
Pulled off a good double save from Diego and Grafite. Took a hammer blow for his bravery in the second-half but like the gladiator he is, soldiered on.
Such was BVB's dominance that we saw Hummels very far forward on the odd occasion. Was simply outstanding in the duels, too strong for Grafite and never once had to resort to a rash challenge. Deserved his goal before he was taken off with a slight knock.
Excellent in the defence, decisive in the tackle. Got tight to Mandzukic and ensured the Croatian had little joy. Another fine showing at the back.
Not too heavily involved and didn't need to be but didn't put a foot wrong in defence and when he came forward ,he stung the palms of Benaglio with a thunderbolt.
Again didn't have the greatest impact in attacking terms but he works hard and closes down the ground for his team-mates.
Brought Mandzukic down clumsily in the first few seconds but thereafter was very solid at the back, reading the game well and making important blocks and interceptions.
Shinji who? OK, the Japanese is a top player but Goetze is doing an excellent job in his absence. Set up the first goal with a clever run in behind the defence and knew when to come deep and when to go forward. Involved in the second as well with another break down the right.
His industry was an important part of BVB's success in attack. Robbed Kahlenberg to set up a chance for Barrios.
The man with the most touches in the league displayed his undoubted quality with the ball with a defence-splitting ball in the lead-up to the opener. He finds space so easily and his manner of taking the ball on the half-turn allows him to turn his attentions so easily to what is ahead of him. Great cross for the third goal.
Tracked Diego well and was everywhere in the midfield, ensured that his opposite numbers in white could not control the game. Made an outstanding block, which led to him taking a blow to the head but it symbolised his commitment.
Took his goal well and almost had another soon after. Linked the play superbly due to his ability to hold up the ball. Still not firing on all cylinders, sometimes does give it away but he adds another dimension to this BVB team.
- 35 M. Hitz
- 39 M. Schulze
- 27 A. Gogia
Came on and found himself punished for being over-elaborate as Kuba caught him in possession.
- 11 Cícero
Came on at half-time for Mandzukic. Not always the most accurate with his distribution. Missed a decent opportunity when Dejagah put a rare quality ball into the box.
The new signing from Monaco was introduced with 23 minutes to go but apart from drawing a couple of fouls, added no bite to the attack. Still to rediscover the form of his spell at Standard.
