FULL TIME. WEST HAM 3-1 LIVERPOOL. Without a doubt the result of the weekend. West Ham are off the bottom of the table and in some style, dominating Liverpool for long periods and deserving the victory. Kenny Dalglish will have some explaining to do as his side never really got going today. West Ham are now on 28 points, level with Wolves in 17th and separated only on goal difference. The great escape is well and truly on.
  • 90' + 3'
Liverpool break straight from kick-off and Suarez tests Green with a fine effort which the England goalkeeper does brilliantly to keep out. Liverpool fans will be wondering why Suarez didn't start the game like he's finishing it. Too little too late from the Uruguayan.
  • 90' + 2'
GOAL!! WEST HAM!! COLE!! WEST HAM 3-1 LIVERPOOL. Game over. Cole outmuscles Skrtel on the edge of the box before smashing a shot that beats Reina at his near post. Wonderful goal from Cole and an inspired substitution from Avram Grant. West Ham are off the bottom of the table and the Hammers' fans are going absolutely crazy.
  • 90' + 1'
    Assist Jonathan Spector
  • 90' + 1'
    Goal Carlton Cole
  • 90'
Into stoppage time now and West Ham are doing anything to waste some vital seconds as they bid to hold on to a crucial three points. Substitute Carlton Cole is booked for blocking Pepe Reina from taking a quick free-kick. Three minutes added on.
  • 89'
    Substitution Demba Ba Carlton Cole
  • 89'
Demba Ba comes off to a deserved standing ovation and is replaced by Carlton Cole. Ba looks like one of the buys of the transfer window and put in a great shift this afternoon.
  • 87'
It's all Liverpool now, and despite being well placed in the West Ham half David Ngog frustrates his team-mates and the Liverpool fans behind the goal by going for goal from all of thirty yards out. Real waste from Ngog and West Ham get a chance to breathe.
  • 85'
GOAL!! LIVERPOOL!! JOHNSON!! WEST HAM 2-1 LIVERPOOL. What do I know? Liverpool are right back in this game with six minutes plus stoppage time remaining. Suarez does well to find space with a clever turn before crossing the ball for Johnson to tap in at the far post. Nervy times for West Ham now.
  • 84'
    Assist Luis Suárez
  • 84'
    Goal Glen Johnson
  • 82'
    Substitution Frédéric Piquionne Jonathan Spector
  • 82'
Avram Grant signals his defensive intent by replacing Piquionne with American Jonathan Spector. Almost an invitation for Liverpool to attack the Hammers for the last ten minutes, but with West Ham's defence playing this well it seems highly unlikely that Liverpool will get one back, let alone two.
  • 79'
O'Neill clumsily brings down Johnson. Suarez stands over the resulting free-kick and whips in a dangerous ball into the area, only to see referee Mark Halsey blow his whistle for some pushing and shoving in the box. West Ham look very likely to secure three points at the moment.
  • 77'
Gerrard's play acting hasn't gone down well with the Irons fans, who are now booing the Liverpool captain's every touch.
  • 75'
Gerrard is trying to get back into this game on his own, unfortunately for him referee Mark Halsey doesn't think that Gerrard's diving skills are believable enough to award a penalty. Gerrard goes down in the box and gets up to almost acknowledge the fact that he took a tumble under no contact whatsoever.
  • 74'
Green makes only his second notable save of the match, tipping behind a clean strike from Steven Gerrard for a corner.
  • 73'
Maybe a sign that it's West Ham's day today. The ball smashes into the face of Wayne Bridge and flies out of play, and somehow West Ham are awarded a throw-in.
  • 72'
Even with the attacking ability of Gerrard and Suarez, Liverpool are finding it almost impossible to penetrate West Ham's defence as the midfield trio of Hitzlsperger, Noble and Parker have been brilliant today.
  • 69'
Gerrard tries to lead by example by bombing forward from midfield only to see his effort blocked by the fantastic Scott Parker.
  • 67'
Piquionne will be wondering how he hasn't made it three nil to West Ham. Noble whips in a peach of a corner-kick which is met by Piquionne in the centre of the penalty area six yards from goal, but the striker mistimes his jump and cannot get a clean contact on the ball, heading well wide. Huge chance for West Ham and Piquionne knows it.
  • 65'
Danish right-back Lars Jacobsen is allowed to run forward unchallenged as Liverpool's defence back off to the edge of the box, letting Jacobsen unleash a shot which swerves wickedly but sails over the crossbar.
  • 63'
Gary O'Neill makes a great run forward into the Liverpool box before smashing a cross come shot that eludes the awaiting Demba Ba in the centre of the six yard box. Very open feel to the game at the moment.
  • 61'
World class save from Robert Green. For the first time in the match Luis Suarez shows why Liverpool paid Ajax over twenty million pounds for his services. The Uruguayan turns Tomkins with consumate ease before directing a left footed strike that looks destined for the top right hand corner, only to see Green's fingertips parry the ball out for a corner-kick.
  • 60'
West Ham's domination of this game is resulting in sarcastic chants of 'Ole' from the home faithful. Still a long way to go in this one though.
  • 57'
The camera cuts to a shot of Kenny Dalglish and his assistant Steve Clarke and they both look in a state of shock after witnessing Liverpool play so poorly in the opening 12 minutes of this half.
  • 54'
Almost forgot to mention that Raul Meireles was injured in a collision with Scott Parker at the very start of the half, and was replaced by David Ngog, adding to Kenny Dalglish's injury problems.
  • 53'
So close to 3-0 West Ham. Some fantastic football from the home side culminates in Ba smashing a left footed shot which shaves Reina's left hand post. All West Ham at the moment and seems a matter of time until they make it three.
  • 50'
Joe Cole shows his defensive qualities by tracking back to make a fantastic tackle on Demba Ba. Ba screams for a free-kick but his theatrics were a little over the top to say the least.
  • 49'
    Substitution Raúl Meireles David Ngog
  • 48'
Superb defending from Tomkins who prevents Suarez from getting a goal back by heading the ball behind for a corner with Suarez waiting in the wings to tap the ball home.
  • 47'
The weather has taken a turn for the worse here in London as the rains starts to bucket down on Upton Park.
  • 46'
West Ham get us going again attacking from left to right.
  • 45' + 2'
HALF TIME. WEST HAM 2-0 LIVERPOOL. Two really classy goals from Scott Parker and Demba Ba have given relegation threatened West Ham a priceless two goal lead going into the break. Kenny Dalglish will have to give his side a rousing team talk as they really haven't put anything together in the opening 45 minutes. A huge second half is ahead for West Ham as they look to hold onto an invaluable three points in their bid for Premier League survival.
  • 45'
    Assist Gary O'Neil
  • 45'
    Goal Demba Ba
  • 45'
GOAL!! WEST HAM!! BA!! WEST HAM 2-0 LIVERPOOL. Demba Ba has raised the roof at Upton Park. Noble clipped in a great cross from the right and with Liverpool's defence all at sea West Ham's new signing found enough space in the box before heading past a helpless Pepe Reina into the top right hand corner. A real classy header from the Hammers' new boy, who now has three goals in three games for the claret and blues.
  • 43'
    Substitution Martin Kelly Joe Cole
  • 43'
Just as I spoke of how well young Kelly had been playing for Liverpool, he sprints down the right-hand side only to pull up with what looks to be a pulled hamstring. Really unfortunate for the full-back. Joe Cole comes on to replace Kelly, recieving a warm welcome from the West Ham faithful.
  • 41'
West Ham win a free-kick which looks to be in perfect range for Thomas 'Der Hammer' Hitzlsperger to hit one of his trademark rockets into the top corner. Surprisingly though Mark Noble steps up and curls a weak free-kick well wide.
  • 38'
The impressive Stephen Kelly, playing in a right-wing back role cuts inside onto his left-foot and drills a low shot which Green does well to hold on to.
  • 35'
Penalty appeals all over the place at Upton Park. Both Piquionne and Ba go down under challenges from Jamie Carragher in the box before Suarez goes down after James Tomkins goes through the back of him. I've seen incidents like them given before, but none were clear-cut decisions for Halsey.
  • 32'
Not much goalmouth action to talk about at the moment as both sides have finally settled down. Suarez seems to be struggling with the physical demands of the Premier League already after being clattered a few times with some harsh but fair challenges from the West Ham defenders.
  • 31'
West Ham old boy Joe Cole trotsout for a warm up to a welcoming reception from the home crowd.
  • 28'
Suarez is beginning to have some impact on the game after failing to get his foot on the ball at all in the opening minutes. Liverpool will need their number 7 to show some of his class if they are to get back into this one as West Ham look up for this one!
  • 25'
Liverpool nearly strike back immediately. After a good counter-attack lead by Suarez, Dirk Kuyt cuts inside onto his right-foot and hits a thunderbolt from 25 yards which hits the side-netting. We have a really good game on our hands now.
  • 23'
Chris Davie comments on that wonder goal from Parker. "Outstanding finish from Scott Parker, which has subsequently lifted the West ham crowd. The hosts have been subdued up until now but once against, their captain has ignited their performance."
  • 22'
    Assist Thomas Hitzlsperger
  • 22'
    Goal Scott Parker
  • 21'
GOAL!! WEST HAM!! PARKER!! WEST HAM 1-0 LIVERPOOL. What a goal that is! Scott Parker creates some space for himself on the edge of the area before flicking the ball with the outside of his boot past Pepe Reina and into the bottom left hand corner. It's an outrageous finish from the Hammers' talisman as he almost floated the ball past Pepe Reina, fabulous goal.

  • 19'
The atmosphere here at Upton Park hasn't quite been matched by the events on the pitch so far, as both sides struggle to get into any sort of rhythm in a scrappy opening.
  • 16'
Half-hearted penalty appeals from Liverpool as the ball appears to strike the arm of Piquionne in West Ham's six yard box following a Liverpool corner. Mark Halsey waves away the claims. Replays showed that Kenny Dalglish's side may have had a case, would have been harsh though.
  • 14'
Chris Davie gives us his view of the game so far: "A lot of the final balls have been pumped long for the forwards to chase. Luis Suarez just dropped deep but Matthew Upson following him all the way. Lots of space in midfield, however. As for West Ham Demba Ba appears to be the furthest forward at every occasion. The striker seems reluctant to drop deep in order to hold the ball up. He and Frederic Piquionne have not yet linked up."
  • 12'
Meireles gets another sniff at goal, this time hitting a tame left footed effort straight at Green outside a congested penalty area. It's no surprise that he's been in goalscoring form lately considering the amount of positive attacking positions he's got himself into already after just twelve minutes of this game.
  • 10'
The returning Steven Gerrard is beginning to pull the strings in the Liverpool midfield, showing his precision with a great delivery which sails towards Luis Suarez and Meireles, but neither player can get the ball under control and West Ham clear.
  • 8'
Chris Davie: "Eerily quiet start to the game. Liverpool fans are in full voice tucked away in the corner behind the goal."
  • 7'
    Yellow Card Martin Skrtel
  • 6'
Glen Johnson gallops forward down the left-hand side before being fouled by Scott Parker. Referee Mark Halsey angers the home fans by allowing Liverpool to play on before bringing the play back for the foul. Good refereeing from Halsey though.
  • 5'
Early chance for Liverpool as the goalscoring sensation that is Raul Meireles finds space in the area before directing a header wide of Robert Green's post.
  • 3'
Hitzlsperger or 'Der Hammer' as he is known, shows just why his left foot is so highly regarded by firing a volley from all of 35 yards that forces Pepe Reina into an early save. Luckily for the Spaniard the strike was straight at the goalkeeper but that is a warning if Liverpool ever needed one of Hitzlsperger's frightening ability from range.
  • 1'
    We are underway!
  • Thomas Hitzlsperger makes his first start for West Ham after his injury nightmare since joining the Hammers, whilst Liverpool welcome back captain Steven Gerrard after a groin problem. Kick-off is imminent.
  • Chris Davie is our man at Upton Park today, and will give his say on todays events throughout the match, and has noticed some confidence in the West Ham camp: Co-chairman David Gold was buoyant in his programme notes: "We should be flying this afternoon. We know how important our home games are and I will certainly take my seat this afternoon feeling optimistic."
