Didier Ya Konan put Hannover ahead early, but Per Mertesacker leveled early in the second half to earn a point for Bremen.
Bremen were dominant in possession throughout the match, but fell victims to their clinically efficient visitors. It took a bit of calamitous defending, but Ya Konan fired in the opener on 26 minutes. The Hanseaten, who earlier had a shot cleared off the goal line, drew level early in the second half through Mertesacker, who rose high to head in the equaliser on 50 minutes.
Tempers flared late in the match, but there were few opportunities on goal. Marko Marin came close with a late free kick, but missed, and the match ended in a draw. Following this evening's match, Bremen move 14th, with 24 points, while move back up to fourth, one point ahead of Mainz.
