Handed Barca the victory on a silver platter after being sent off and conceding a penalty so early in the game. Made it incredibly difficult for his team-mates for the rest of the match.
Had a relatively decent game. Not many players can make such well-timed tackles on Lionel Messi, which he managed more than once just outside the box. However, was guilty of leaving his post at times which left a gaping hole at the back.
Was torn to shreds at times by Cuenca down the left-hand side. Was guilty of diving in and making rash challenges and simply could not handle the threat of the young Spaniard and Dani Alves.
Was lucky not to concede a penalty in the first half after bringing down Cesc Fabregas with a rash tackle, albeit exaggerated by the Catalan midfielder. Failed to keep up with the pace of the Barca players and looked well out of his depth.
Squandered the best opportunity of the match for Plzen. Showed tremendous pace to run away from Pique and Puyol to go through on goal but was far too indecisive and his shot was relatively easily saved by Valdes.
The best player for Viktoria Plzen. Showed moments of real quality in the first half. Before Barcelona grabbed their first goal he made life difficult for the Catalan giants, and gave Alves a hard time on a couple of occasions.
Had some joy down the left against Dani Alves. Put in a brilliant cross to the back post for Pilar but his team-mates could not convert. Showed good pace and his delivery was pretty good.
Mostly employed as hatchet-man in the middle of midfield. Rarely saw the ball and spent most of his match putting in niggling challenges. Showed plenty of determination but lacked the quality to hurt Barca.
Was enjoying his match up until Barcelona went ahead. Got the ball a couple of times in the first 20 minutes and went on marauding runs down the right which his opponents struggled to handle. However, reverted to full-back after Plzen went a man down and struggled with the movement of the Barca players.
Was an isolated figure and did not have enough time to make a true impact on the game as he was sacrificed in the 24th minute for a defender after Civovsky was sent off and left a gaping hole at the back.
Only had a couple of moments in which he was called upon but responded excellently. Read the game brilliantly on one occasion to intercept a cross from Pilar that looked to be landing in a dangerous position in the six-yard box. Made a brilliant save from a one-on-one with Petrzela.
Drifted in from the left-hand side most of the match and linked up well with the central players. Provided a lovely one-two assist for Messi's second goal and generally looked bright throughout the match.
Had his hands full with Kolar at times as the Plzen player made charging runs down the left. Earned a silly booking which rules him out of the next match for a foul on the same player.
A very quiet game tonight for the Frenchman. As Adriano drifted inside up top, he was often employed as a left winger, but more often than not just opted to play passes back inside. Solid as always but not a memorable match.
Had a quiet night in terms of defensive work but often drifted from his position as Barcelona dominated play. He made some great interceptions but was also caught out in the middle of the park more than once.
Had next to nothing to deal with all night so got through the game fairly comfortably. However, was still slightly sluggish when in possession and gave the ball away. Did provide a fantastic back-heeled assist for Messi's hat-trick goal.
Defensive work was flawless throughout the match. Made some very important tackles in the midfield and won the ball back for his team time and time again. However, his passing was by no means up to his usual standards and failed to find team-mates with cross-field passes on more than one occasion.
Showed plenty of excellent touches in the final third. Came close to grabbing a goal in the first half with a decent shot that went just over the bar but passing could have been more decisive in and around the Plzen penalty area. Unlucky with header that struck the crossbar.
Brilliant game from the young forward. Took a little while to get into the match but when he did he was very hard to stop. Showed electric pace and intelligent trickery down the right-hand side. Provided Fabregas with a perfect assist and on one occasion, went on a jinking dribble down the right, taking out four Plzen players.
Had a disappointing first half. Gave the ball away with poor passes and lacked sharpness. However, his performance in the second period greatly improved. Started making runs and this paid off when he scored a superbly-timed header with 20 minutes to go.
Imperious performance again. The Argentine took the game by the scruff of the neck and scored two goals in the first 45 minutes. Regularly came deep to pick up the ball and acted as a playmaker as well as a finisher for Barca. Earned his hat-trick with a trademark goal just before the final whistle, and his treble took him past the 200-goal mark for the European champions.
- 30 M. Ticháček
Late sub in the closing stages, little time to make an impression.
Slotted in at centre-back in place of the sent-off Cisovsky but was as just inept at stopping Barca as his team-mates.
- 16 V. Darida
- 17 J. Hora
- 9 M. Fillo
Brought on to try and get Plzen a goal but barely got a touch.
- 13 Pinto
Was intelligent in keeping possession and quickly caught up to the pace of the game.
- 14 J. Mascherano
- 6 Xavi
- 8 Iniesta
Slotted in nicely in midfield and kept things solid for Barca.
Was very sharp after coming on. Had a couple of pacey dribbles down the left-hand side and almost scored moments after coming on, only to be denied by Pavlik in the Plzen goal.
