The Spaniard rarely touched the ball as his team created nearly all of the chances. He could do little on both goals, as the referee and his defenders let him down.
The French giant was woefully exposed at Apono's winner, then contrived to head wide of the target from inside the six yard box in the dying moments, that would have earned his side a point.
Struggled to believe the penalty kick that was given against him for heading the ball onto the hand of Aranda. Nonetheless, it was called and it cost his team dearly, but not as much as his poor defending on the second goal, leaving Apono yards of space to shoot.
An uneventful first half but he defender had to put in some effort in the second when Zuculini came on. He looked attentive and wasn't afraid to go in hard after the ball.
The former Toulouse man has had a poor run of form as of late, failing to really swing in his trademark crosses from the wing or dominate in defence. He hasn't looked himself and was a complete non-factor.
Similar to Mathieu, Pablo hasn't been himself as of late. He did manage to score after Soldado did a wonderful job to get by Paredes, putting the ball away from 10 yards. However, he did not look sharp on the ball and was taken off late in favour of Piatti.
The fan favourite was taken off in the second half as Emery wanted his team to be more offensive. Held the ball well in his 70 minutes and had a few quality tackles.
His increased playing time hasn't translated into better play. The former Getafe man has distributed the ball well but never really provides the pivotal through balls needed.
Should have scored on a few occasions. He put himself in good positions but just couldn't finish the opportunities that came his way.
Had a few chances but didn't finish. After bagging three last weekend against Athletic Bilbao, he could only contribute an assist, albeit a nice one for Pablo.
Horrific. Missed chance after chance, including several clear openings. Could have easily scored two goals in the match but was stopped by Roberto. His playing time may well reduce after this one.
Sensational. Could do little on Hernandez's goal but he did make several fine saves from close, including a couple to deny Aduriz. Was in fine form and really frustrated the Valencia attack.
Ineffective and was taken off minutes into the second half, looking a bit slow. Did little with the ball and was just out of sync with his team-mates.
Not his best match. Was easily beaten by Soldado on the first goal and just got caught out of place too many times. Little effort from the veteran.
The young Spaniard didn't see much of the ball, aiming to create for Aranda. Had an uneventful match and was a spectator for the most part before being subbed off.
Earned a red card for taking down Aduriz on the break. Debatable sending off, but regardless, it was called. Only played 20 minutes, leaving his team one player short for the majority of the match.
Stood his ground well and was physical but really should have done better on the goal. Was caught watching Soldado as Hernandez set himself up for the shot.
The Hungarian let Adruiz get free several times, but he was fortunate that the former Mallorca man couldn't finish at all. Improved as the game went on, however.
Made several key tackles and contained Parejo and Jonas for the most part. Earned a yellow but really came to play as his side desperately looked for a result. Good game.
Did a good job connecting the defenders to the attackers, playing the ball forward at a better rate after Zuculini was introduced. Stole the show with two goals, including a fine finish late on that flew into the top corner.
His speed down the right was helpful, and made the most out of his only real opening to lay on the winner for Apono.
The striker barely featured; he was not fed the ball much at all and looked frustrated throughout. The possession from Valencia allowed him to do little with the ball, and he was sacrificed in the second 45.

Emery brought on the young star in the second half but he couldn't get settled into the match and was not a factor.

Inconsistent as usual, Feghouli came on for Albelda but contributed nothing as the visitors turned the tide.
A desperation late sub by Emery, the Argentine came on for Pablo and will be remembered for being offside on one run and nothing else.

Came on in the second half to help in defence and did a good job in his short spell, clearing out a few chances.
The former Racing Club de Avellaneda man came on early in the second half and really helped with possession and getting the ball forward. Was quick on the ball and made a decent difference for his side before earning a late red card.
After being brought on, his team scored. His pace and versatility forced Valencia's defenders to spread out a bit more, leaving space in the middle for the second goal.
