3-2! VALENCIA ARE STILL IN THIS! The ball looks like it is going out of play yet Pablo somehow keeps it is play, clipping a cross into the box for Soldado to divert the ball past Casillas from six yards out. GAME ON AGAIN!

Mathieu plays an inviting cross into the box which is flicked on by Soldado. Pablo volleys the ball from 10 yards out, only for Marcelo to divert the ball over the bar.
  • 77'
How will Madrid respond to Valencia making it 2-1? Will they look for a third or look to shut up shop? This will surely be an enthralling final 13 minutes. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE!

2-! VALENCIA SCORE! Wonderful finish from Soldado after it appeared Valencia had wasted their chance. Pabol Hernandez was played through one-on-one with Casillas who made a smart block. However, the ball bounces to Soldado 15 yards out who drills it past three Madrid defenders and into the bottom far corner. GAME ON!

Feghouli is replaced by Pablo Hernandez but isn't it a little too late for the home side after Madrid's second goal?

2-0 MADRID! Looks like that will be game, set and match for the visitors. Ozil whips an inviting corner into the box which finds the head of Ramos who sees his effort bounce into the back of the net via the post.
  • 69'
Great play by Miguel who somehow manages to make ground up on Ronaldo to dispossess the attacker, with Ozil lurking in the box.
  • 67'
Decent challenge from Albiol on Mathieu who has been Valencia's dangerman this evening. A few moments later, the Frenchman tries his luck 25 metres from goal but it goes high, wide and not so handsome.
  • 65'
    Yellow CardXabi Alonso
  • 63'
This game has been a non-event in the last 10 minutes. No fluency from either side due to the niggly fouls.
  • 62'
    SubstitutionParejo Jonas
  • 61'
The Valencia players seek to think Ozil should have been shown a second yellow card for a late challenge on Alba and they may have a point. Will we go a minute of this game without a foul? It looks highly unlikely.
  • 60'
After Costa's foul on Diarra, both sets of players come together in an ugly scene. A few more booking in the process as tempers threaten to ruin this game.

    Yellow CardSergio Ramos

Madrid really aren't having this all their own way as Valencia continue to look threatening on the attack. The next goal in this game will be crucial.

CLOSE FROM VALENCIA! Mathieu slides a wonderful ball along the six-yard line and Soldado is inches away from connecting and putting the ball into an empty net.
  • 51'
Change for Madrid as Arbeloa is replaced by Albiol, with Ramos moving out to right-back. Not sure if the former Liverpool man has picked up an injury.
  • 50'
    SubstitutionArbeloa Raúl Albiol
  • 49'
Alba does very well to get past Arbeloa and into the Madrid box. However, Xabi Alonso is on cue to coolly dispossess him, just when the visitors looked in danger.
  • 48'
Surprised to see no changes at the break from Valencia who were a little too cautious in the first-half. Expect to see Pablo Hernandez and Jonas at some point.
  • 46'
Valencia get the second half back underway. Can the home side get back into this game?
  • Now for a few of your views on Twitter. David Fahnbulleh says how entertaining the first-half has been and how he's particularly impressed with the performance of Diarra. Ohu Oluwaseun on the otherhand believes Valencia will come back and win 3-2. Do any of you agree? Keep your tweets coming folks!
  • HALF-TIME! So there we have it, Benzema's superb strike in the 20th minute gives Madrid a 1-0 lead at the break. Entertaining game this yet the visitors are good value for their advantage at the moment. Valencia will need to show a little more adventure in their play if they are to get back level. Don't go anywehere guys, we will be back in 15 minutes!
  • 45'
Looks like we will be heading into the break with Madrid one goal to the good. Remember people to tweet your opinions on the game on Twitter @LukasMaf.
  • 43'
Emery will be disappointed with the fact his side have struggled to get the ball to dangerman Soldado. The former Madrid forward is in superb form but has not been given a sniff so far this evening.
  • 41'
SO CLOSE FROM MADRID! Benzema slips the ball through to Ronaldo who originally looks like he won't get to the ball. However the Portuguese attacker gets his toe to the ball yet Alves does very well to block his effort.
  • 40'
Five minutes to go before half-time and it looks like both sides are content with going into the break with the scoreline as it is. Neither side are committing men forward like they were in the opening 25 minutes.
  • 38'
It is hard to see Valencia clawing their way back into this game at the moment. It has to be said, Ramos has been superb for the last month since his switch to central defence.
  • 36'
Parejo whips a corner into the box yet Ramos clears the danger easily. Poor delivery that, especially with Rami in the box. The former Lille defender already has three goals this season.
  • 34'
A few niggly fouls in the past few minutes from both sides. Valencia look a little more settled yet they haven't really test Casillas in the Madrid goal.
  • 33'
    Yellow CardArbeloa
  • 31'
Looks like both teams are having a little breather at the moment with the tempo noticeably slowing down. What has been interesting is seeing Diarra and Khedira taking it in turns to get into the Valencia box.
  • 28'
Valencia are claiming a penalty but the referee does not give it and he's spot on. Mathieu's header is blocked by the body of Arbeloa, not the arm as some Valencia players seem to think.
  • 27'
Nice play form Valencia as Mathieu whips the ball into the box for Parejo to attack. The former Madrid playmaker gets his head to the ball yet Pepe is on cue to put the ball out for a corner.
  • 26'
Beautiful piece of skill from Ronaldo as Madrid keep possession. The away team have certainly stepped it up a gear after that goal. Valencia will do well to go into the break only a goal down.
  • 25'
That goal from Madrid showed just how dangerous the giants of Spanish football can be. Mourinho's men have quality throughout their squad and at the moment, they're proving it week in week out.
  • 22'
    Yellow CardTino Costa
  • 22'
Costa is the first player to pick up a yellow card for bringing down Diarra. The home team need to keep their cool after going a goal down.

1-0 MADRID! Superb finish from Benzema after the simplest of build-ups. Xabi Alonso launches a quickly-taken free-kick from inside Madrid's own half to the French striker. Benzema who is clear of his marker controls the ball, flicks it up and smashes it past a helpless Diego Alves from 15 yards out. Stunning finish!
  • 18'
Possession football at the moment for Madrid. Ramos chips a through ball to Khedira who miscontrols the ball in the area before Miguel challenges the former Stuttgart man.
  • 16'
Very engaging game this at the moment. Both teams are committing men forward on the attack so we're sure to see some goals. There have been 23 goals the last four times these teams have met at Mestalla.
  • 13'
After a bright opening from Emery's side, the visitors have definitely settled in recent minutes and look more like the team who have won 10 games in a row.
  • 11'
Wonderful run by Diarra who takes on three players to make his way to the touchline. His cross finds the head of Ronaldo who sees his effort blocked and rebounded into the path of Benzema. The French striker blasts a shot goalwards from the edge of the box yet it misses the bottom corner by a few yards. Let off for Valencia.
  • 9'
Ronaldo is fouled by Miguel 40 yards from goal. Xabi Alonso launches the ball into the box and after it's knocked down to Khedira, the German slices the ball wide of goal.
  • 7'
Alba and Mathieu work well down the left with the Spaniard whipping a ball into the box. Parejo gets his head to the ball yet his effort is blocked by Ramos.
  • 5'
The game has settled down a little now but there is still a wonderful tempo to this one. Madrid are on the attack but are yet to test Diego Alves, who is making his Liga debut for Valencia.
  • 3'
The home team certainly look up for this one, seeing all of the ball at the moment. The last time these sides met, Madrid won 6-3. It comes as no surprise that Valencia are on a revenge mission here.
  • 1'
We're under way here as the home side make a blistering start to the game, putting Madrid straight under pressure. Costa tries his luck 30 metres out but the ball fizzes wide.
  • Both sets of players on the pitch now, going through the routine shaking hands. Madrid are in their third kit tonight, wearing all red. Valencia are in their traditional white shirts with black shorts. We're approaching kick-off.
  • Parejo starts against his former club tonight for Valencia which is a surprise to some. Albelda comes into midfield while the home team will be pleased to see Rami starting after an injury scare in the week. Can Valencia end Madrid's 10-game winning streak in all competitions.
  • Big plus for Madrid is the inclusion of Ronaldo who has shrugged off a thigh strain. Madrid go with a three-man midfield, due to the absence of Di Maria and Kaka. Remember to tweet your thoughts and opinions of the game to me on Twitter @LukasMaf.
  • Real Madrid (4-3-2-1): Casillas; Arbeloa, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo; Xabi Alonso, Khedira, Diarra; Ozil, Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema

  • Here come the two teams...
  • Hello and welcome to Goal.com's coverage of Valencia versus Real Madrid from Mestalla. I'm Luke Matthews and I will be guiding you through tonight's action. Madrid go into the weekend top of La Liga but with Barcelona on the verge of beating Zaragoza, Jose Mourinho's men will be in search of three points to maintain their lead at the top of the table. However, Valencia well be no pushover with Unai Emery's side in third place and looking to make up ground on the 'big two'.
