• Estadio de Mestalla, Valencia
Referee: Alfonso Alvarez Izquierdo
• Attendance: 45000
G. Castro 7', 29'
90' + 4'
It's all over here at the Mestalla as Valencia have lost 2-1 to Real Mallorca. Gonzalo Costa's two goals in the first-half eventually proved to be hugely important as Michael Laudrup's side rattle yet another big side in the Spanish top flight. From me and the rest of the Goal.com team here in Valencia, it's goodbye for now.
90' + 3'
CASTRO!!!!! He is sent through in an one-on-one situation and has a great chance to complete the hat-trick but hits straight at Moya.
90' + 1'
We have played one minute of the four minutes of injury time here...
Yellow CardTino Costa
VICENTE!!! The Valencia winger cuts inside from the left and takes a direct attempt on the Mallorca goal but it is brilliantly saved and turned out for a corner, from which los Che fail to do anything fruitful.
Vicente now delivers a great ball from the left-wing into the area but Ramis clears it out of danger.
Three minutes remain and Valencia are getting desperate. Vicente just had a good chance to deliver in a ball but the winger once again failed. He is wearing the captain's armband but he hasn't played the inspirational role of a captain tonight.
Five minutes of normal time remain in this match for Unai Emery's side to create something and salvage a point.
Brilliant defence there from Bruno as he blocks Vicente from reaching out to a Aduriz cross from the left flank inside the Mallorca penalty area.
Jordi Alba whips in a cross from the left-wing but it is easily claimed by Mallorca custodian Aouate.
Barcelona defeated Real Zaragoza 2-0 away from home in the first game today and immediately afterward, Real Madrid took on Racing Santander and destroyed them 6-1. Valencia were expected to win too but as it stands Mallorca are on the verge of winning here at the Mestalla.
Yellow CardRoberto Soldado
Josep Lluis Martí
15 minutes of normal time remain in this match for Valencia to do something. Remember, both Barcelona and Real Madrid have won today and a defeat will push los Che further off the pace in the league title race.
Yellow CardMartí Crespí
Valencia are running out of the ideas, as it seems, and they desperately need to get some inspiration from somewhere.
Yellow CardAritz Aduriz Zubeldia
20 minutes remain in this match for Valencia to score the equaliser. However, judging by the tone of the match, it doesn't seem very likely that Unai Emery's side will be able to do so very easily.
Valencia are struggling to find a way through the Mallorca midfield and defenceline at the moment. The Islanders are holding their own forte and are doing the interventions and interceptions very nicely.
Pablo and Soldado combine with each other in front of the Mallorca penalty area but the latter fails to control the return pass. Valencia have not created much since the start of the second-half, to be honest - the only real-cut chance was that Pablo miss in the opening minutes.
SOLDADO!!! The Valencia striker goes down under a challenge just in front of the Mallorca penalty area but the referee doesn't award a free-kick to los Che.
An hour gone in this match and Valencia are still 2-1 behind.
Yellow CardRicardo Costa
Now Castro runs down the left flank in order to torment the Valencia backline but he is dispossessed of the football quite easily.
10 minutes gone in the second-half and it remains 2-1 to Mallorca still. However, Valencia have looked the brighter of the two sides, and the more urgent too...
Valencia have changed their set-up since the start of the second-half and are playing with two strikers upfront as Aritz Aduriz came on at half-time.
Five minutes gone in the second-half and Valencia have made all the runnings so far.
PABLO!!!!!!!! WHAT A MISS!!!! WHAT A MISS!!!!!!!! The Valencia winger fails to hit the target from close range as the ball goes wide of the mark. It was a brilliant move from Valencia and it was a great cross from the left but what a shocker of a miss there!
Aritz Aduriz Zubeldia
And here we start with the second-half...
45' + 2'
It's half-time here at the Mestalla and it is 2-1 to Mallorca. The Islanders were 2-0 up at one stage thanks to a brace from Gonzalo Castro but Roberto Soldado's penalty means that los Che still have a chance to get a win here. Join us soon for the second-half.
45' + 1'
GONZALO CASTRO!!!!!!! Webo is again at the heart of the move and Castro's attempt from the left side goes just wide of the far post.
Two minutes of injury time have been added here...
Manuel Fernandes now tries to chip the ball into the Mallorca net but his attempt, although honourable, was not necessarily especially as he couldn't keep it on target.
Valencia have had more of the possession in the last few minutes but have failed to do anything concrete with it.
Yellow CardEver Banega
Five minutes of normal time remain in this half for Valencia to try to pull back another goal. It's 2-1 in favour of Mallorca at the moment but los Che have looked the stronger of the two sides in the last few minutes.
It's been a very interesting match here at the Mestalla here and indeed it does promise to become even more so as it advances.

Penalty GoalRoberto Soldado
GOAL! Soldado scores from the spot and makes it 2-1. The Valencia comeback is well and truly underway here at the Mestalla.
PENALTY! Valencia have been awarded a penalty as Edson Ratinho has pulled down Vicente inside the Mallorca penalty area. Los Che have a great chance to halve the deficit here at the Mestalla.
Gonzalo Castro marches down the left-wing but is stopped in his tracks by David Albelda.
Now De Guzman gallops down the right and whips in a cross that is very inviting but is slightly overhit. 2-0 to Mallorca, it remains.
DAVID ALBELDA! The Spanish veteran tries to pull one back rightaway as he takes an attempt on the Mallorca goal but fails.
GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Gonzalo Castro scores and makes it 2-0 to Real Mallorca! A shot is drilled in from distance that Moya does well to parry but the rebound falls to Castro, who slots the ball home with ease from close range. Valencia have a heck lot of work to do now here at the Mestalla now!
Mallorca are not exactly playing counter-attacking football and look interested in scoring yet another goal.
DE GUZMAN! Mallorca go on the attack now and De Guzman tries to head home a right-wing cross but is thwarted in his attempt by Valencia goalkeeper Miguel Angel Moya.
SOLDADO!!! The Spaniard takes a long-range attempt on the Mallorca goal but it goes just inches over the crossbar.
Valencia have come back stronger into the match since conceding that goal and indeed have looked better and much more cohesive than the visitors. However, they are still behind and need to find a killer pass that would see them equalise.
Yellow CardEdson Ratinho
ROBERTO SOLDADO!!! Now Ever Banega whips in a cross from the left that finds Soldado inside the six-yard area but the former Getafe striker fails to control the ball and the it comes back to the Argentine only to be cleared with relative ease by the Mallorca defence.
ROBERTO SOLDADO!!! The Valencia striker was close to restoring parity for the home side there from a corner and it is now the Valencia fans who want a penalty. But it's not been given and it remains 1-0 to the Islanders.
15 minutes gone in this match and it is 1-0 to Mallorca. It's been more or less an even first 15 minutes but Mallorca lead thanks to a fortunate penalty decision.
Now Marti tries to do something inside the Valencia penalty area but his attempt is not very concrete.
Vicente is called offside now just as he is about to launch into his one of his threatening runs down the left for Valencia.
I have just watched a replay of that penalty decision again and I have to assert that it was NOT a penalty. Webo tripped down on his own as there was no touch whatsoever on him from Ricardo Costa. The referee made a very, very poor decision but then again, it was also a very poor mis-kick from Webo.
AssistPierre Achille Webo
Penalty GoalChory Castro
GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Gonzalo Castro scores and Mallorca are now 1-0 up. It was a very lucky penalty, I must say, as the it went right down the middle but Moya in the Valencia goal dived to his right.
PENALTY!!!!! Mallorca have been awarded a penalty as the referee believes that Ricardo Costa pulls down Webo inside the area just about the Mallorca striker is about to shoot. Great chance for Mallorca to score and take the lead here...
Vicente floats in a cross from the left wing but the ball goes over everyone's heads and to the other side of the pitch. It was the end product of a quick movement from their own half for Valencia.
Webo is on the attack for Mallorca right away but their move is smothered very soon.
And here we kick off...
But Mallorca are not easy pushovers at all. The Islanders have stopped both Barca and Madrid this season and Michael Laudrup with expect the same heroic performance from his side today too.
Hello and welcome to Goal.com's LIVE coverage of the Spanish Primera Division between Valencia and Real Mallorca from the Mestalla. With Barcelona and Real Madrid both winning earlier today, los Che are under pressure to collect all three points from this match.
