Jonas 38', 75'
That's all from me for tonight guys! Good night!
FULL-TIME: VALENCIA 2-0 LILLE. Two goals from Jonas were enough to see off Valencia's French opposition this evening, with the Brazilian midfielder scoring either side of half-time from the home side. Lille had chances to score in the first half, but barely threatened in the second, and their evening was compounded by the sending off of their captain Mathieu Debuchy late in the second half for a second bookable offence.
90' + 3'
And there is the final whistle! Valencia have won 2-0.
90' + 1'
The referee signals for three minutes of added time here at Mestalla.
Lille look to attack down the left late on, Tulio winning a free-kick after a late challenge from Tino Costa.
Yellow/Red Mathieu Debuchy
DEBUCHY IS OFF!! The Lille captain has been shown his marching orders for a second bookable offence. This time he goes through the back of Dani Parejo on the near side, and the referee has no choice but to send him off.
Valdez wins a free-kick shortly after joining the fray, drawing a challenge from Basa on the half-way line.
Valencia continue to waste time as they edge towards victory, making another change to bring on Nelson Valdez for Roberto Soldado.
Aurélien Chedjou Fongang
On comes Parejo for the scorer of both of Valencia's goals tonight, Jonas. The Brazilian has put in a good shift tonight, both going forward and helping out defensively.
Yellow Card Jonas
Dani Parejo is warming up on the sidelines for Valencia, who look to be running down the clock here with just over 10 minutes to go.
From his reaction to the ball hitting the back of the net you can tell Jonas didn't quite mean that to go in there! He looks happy to have got his second of the evening though.
Assist Sofiane Feghouli
GOALLL!!! 2-0 TO VALENCIA!! JONAS HAS SCORED AGAIN!! The Brazilian adds his second of the night in fortuitous circumstances. The midfielder lifts a hopeful cross into the area that catches Landreau out, clips the top of the bar and nestles in the back of the net. They all count!
Guardado lets fly from distance for Valencia but Landreau is positioned well and can easily step to his right and gather the ball comfortably.
Yellow Card Benoit Pedretti
Pedretti goes into the referee's book for a very late challenge on Tino Costa. He can have no complaints about that one!
Chedjou puts in a fine block on Soldado as the Valencia forward breaks down the right and attempts to hammer a cross towards Jonas in the Lille penalty area. Great defending!
Feghouli has another chance to run through one-on-one with Landreau but he cannot quite work the ball out of his feet after Gago had threaded through another delicious pass.
SOLDADO GOES CLOSE!! Guardado bursts towards the penalty area and then slips the ball through to Feghouli, who does well to dig out a cross to Soldado that the Spain international can only head over Landreau's crossbar from close range.
Payet misses the target for the second time this evening, with his left foot on this occasion. The attacker drops his shoulder on the edge of the box but then slices a shot high and wide.
But then again, Lille have been pretty wayward with their passing too! Debuchy has just had a chance to put in a cross from the right and he's driven it straight out of play for a Valencia goal-kick.
Valencia haven't sorted their passing out in this second half, with a number of players overcooking their passes and gifting Lille the ball.
Feghouli works some space on the right and should pick Soldado out with a pass, but he doesn't get enough on the chipped cross and it easily dealt with by the Lille defence.
GOOD TRACKING FROM BASA!! The centre-back gets across to block Jonas' shot after Barragan had done well to cut back a cross from the right-hand side.
Payet drifts past a couple of Valencia challenges on the edge of box before arrowing a shot towards the bottom left corner but Guiata has it covered and gets down low to claim the ball.
Cissokho goes down in the Lille box and looks up hopefully at the referee for a penalty but again the referee isn't fooled by the Valencia appeals and correctly allows play to carry on with Lille in possession.
Ruiz splits the Lille defence with a neat pass that Soldado does well to keep in under pressure from Landreau, but the linesman has his flag up and the referee stops play for offside. He was clearly onside there, that's a poor decision from the officials.
But confusingly Lille choose to pass the ball backwards... I wonder if they realise what the score is.
Carlos Delgado goes into the back of Dimitri Payet and the visitors have a chance to work the ball into the Valencia penalty area.
Valencia fans are singing a variation of Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone, I really really wish I knew what they were singing! Sounds fantastic!
Debuchy is down on the turf clutching his side after clashing with Guardado as they both jumped to win a ball in the air. He looks in a fair amount of pain, but he is on his feet and is set to continue.
Valencia get the second half underway here at Mestalla. No changes to report at half-time!
HALF-TIME: VALENCIA 1-0 LILLE. The home side lead at the break at Mestalle courtesy of a well-worked goal that was finished off by their Brazilian attacking midfielder Jonas. Lille have had chances to equalise since going behind, but have been guilty of wasting those opportunities. Balmont shot wide from a decent position inside the box, before Payet sliced a shot into the side netting after racing through on goal. Join me in 10 minutes for the second half of this exciting match!
The referee blows his whistle to mark the end of the first half!
The brutal followed by the beautiful from Debuchy there! Moments after poleaxing Cissokho the Lille full-back plays a superb crossfield ball to Mendes that the Cape Verdean forward wastefully miscontrols.
Yellow Card Mathieu Debuchy
NASTY FROM DEBUCHY!! The France international goes flying into a challenge with Cissokho, gets hardly any of the ball and a lot of the player, and is promptly shown a yellow card by the referee.
Payet has a chance to equalise for the visitors after being played in by Gueye from midfield. The forward slices his finish wide of the near post, when he really should be testing Guaita there!
That goal from Jonas is Valencia's 151st in the competition!
GOALLL!!! 1-0 TO VALENCIA!! Jonas gives the home side the lead with a confident side-footed finish from 12 yards out after playing a neat one-two with Roberto Soldado on the edge of the Lille box.
Lille are certainly starting to impose themselves more in this match as the first half wears on, and are seeing a decent amount of the ball too.
Payet sends a dipping effort from distance straight into the gloves of Vicente Guaita in the Valencia goal. Not a bad effort from the Lille forward though!
Victor Ruiz's tackle on Payet is not strong enough on the edge of the Valencia box, and the ball runs straight into the path of Balmont who shoots just wide of Guaita's right-hand post from 18 yards out.
Yellow Card Barragán
Jonas goes down in the Lille penalty area looking for a penalty but there was nothing more than a shoulder barge from Basa there, and the referee waves play on.
A fine move from Valencia nearly results in a goalscoring opportunity but Basa stands firm on the edge of the box to block Feghouli's pass into the Lille box, with Soldado hanging on the shoulder of the last defender.
Pedretti's delivery is rubbish though, not even beating the first defender. What a waste!
More shoddy work from Barragan! The Valencia full-back has conceded a free-kick in a promising area for the away side. Benoit Pedretti stands over the set piece...
Valencia look to have won a throw-in on the far side but the referee decides better of it, and gives it to Lille. The replay shows he has made the right decision though, as the ball did glance off the back of Soldado. Eagle eyes from the ref!
Guardado and Cissokho combine well for Valencia down the left-hand side, but the final cross from the latter is just too long for Feghouli, who cannot quite control the ball despite stretching to do so.
The corner is wasted though as it lands straight on the head of Basa, who defiantly heads the ball away.
Some good work from Guardado on the left wins a corner for the home side.
Barragan has misplaced a couple of passes down the right for the home side, and the latest one prompts a fairly irritated expression from his team-mate Feghouli, who had made a decent run behind Beria.
The home side are being made to be patient to work their chances at present, with the Lille defence marshalling their ranks well against the running of Soldado and the probing passes from Valencia's midfield.
GOOD CHALLENGE FROM BASA!! Jonas looks to dribble his way into the Lille box on the left but the Yugoslavian defender is across to challenge the Brazilian and knock the ball away from goal.
That's sloppy from Florent Balmont. The Lille midfielder gifts possession straight back to Valencia with a poor pass out to the right, and the home side have the ball once more.
Yellow Card Roberto Soldado
Dimitri Payet's set piece eventually falls to the man that one the free-kick, Beria, but his effort at goal is straight into the arms of Guaita.
SOLDADO IS IN THE BOOK!! The Spain forward gets outmuscled and outpaced by Beria as he tries to help out defensively on the right for the home side. He brings the defender crashing to the deck though, and Lille have a free-kick.
Gago in particular is being afforded far too much space. He's already played in Feghouli for that chance a couple of minutes ago, and Lille are still stepping off him in midfield. A long, driven ball on this occasion very nearly sets Soldado up on the left side of the Lille penalty area.
Lille's midfield is struggling to match the tenacity of Tino Costa and Fernando Gago at the moment. The Valencia duo are starting to dominate that midfield battle.
Congratulations to Valencia by the way, the match tonight is their 100th European Cup game!
FEGHOULI SHOOTS JUST WIDE!! Valencia's attacking midfielder prods an effort just wide of Mickael Landreau's left-hand post from 12 yards after latching on to a divine through-ball from Fernando Gago.
Good tracking from Andres Guardado on the left-hand side for Valencia stops Debuchy from getting a cross in from a dangerous area for the visitors.
The ball falls to Soldado inside the Lille box, he tries to knock the ball through the legs of Ryan Mendes, but the Lille man is alert to the danger and clears the ball away.
It's been all Valencia in the opening five minutes at Mestalla, Lile have barely had a sniff!
The Valencia full-back Antonio Barragan does well to steal the ball off Franck Beria down the right, after the Lille defender had stolen the ball. Barragan gets to the by-line before curling a cross to Roberto Soldado but he fails to connect properly with his header, under pressure from Mathieu Debuchy.
It's been a fairly quiet start here, Valencia currently have possession in defence, and the Lille front three seem quite happy for them to do so.
AND... we are off, Lille get the ball moving from kick-off.
The players are out here at Mestalla with the Champions League anthem ringing around the ground.
Rio Mavuba will be a big miss for the visitors tonight. Their captain has suffered a knee injury that rules him out of this evening's clash. Valencia have absentees of their own to deal with though, with Adil Rami suspended after being sent off in their first group match. Carlos Delgado replaces the Frenchman at centre-back for the Spanish side.
Lille (4-3-3): Landreau; Debuchy, Basa, Chedjou, Beria; Balmont, Gueye, Pedretti; Payet, Roux, Mendes
Valencia (4-2-3-1): Guaita; Barragan, Delgado, Victor Ruiz, Cissokho; Costa, Gago; Feghouli, Jonas, Guardado; Soldado
Without further ado, here are the starting XIs for the two team's tonight:
That result away to Rennes means Lille have won just once in their last eight matches in all competitions. They will be looking to try and rectify that tonight, but will be up against it, with Valencia having won all seven previous home matches against teams from France at Mestalla.
The two sides come into this match have enjoyed contrasting fortunes in their own domestic leagues at the weekend, with Valencia winning 2-0 against Real Zaragoza, and Lille losing 2-0 against Rennes.
