Thank you very much for joining Goal.com for live coverage of Valencia and Granada. Bet Emery wants to get out of the stadium ASAP after a performance like that. But, he will take the three points. I'm Roger Gonzalez, and it's been a pleasure. Stick with Goal.com for the match report and player ratings! Thanks for joining.
90' + 3'
That's it! A win to Valencia! A much needed win! Give Granada credit, they deserved at least a point, proving they can play with the big boys.
90' + 3'
WHAT A SAVE!! Roberto!!! Perhaps the top player, the goalkeeper shuts down Jonas alone in front of goal! Wow!
90' + 2'
Lopez tries his luck from outside the box, sending the ball wide of the goal. Just about over in Mestalla.
Yellow Card Jonas
Yellow card to Jonas for wasting time. In added time now. There will be three minutes played.
Just minutes left, and it's safe to say that Emery would take this result at this moment. Granada have been much better in the second half and probably deserve a draw.
Martins!!!!!! The equaliser was there! The Portuguese has a chance, a look on goal after an error in the defence, but Rami uses his speed to knock the attacker down in the box. No foul called!
Canales attempts to head the ball on goal after a cross from the wing but fails to make contact with the ball, and Granada now go on the counter.
The fans are really suffering. Corner to Granada. Valencia need this victory to gain momentum. The visitors have all the control as we enter the last 10 minutes.
Just over 10 minutes to go in the contest. Both teams are looking for the goal, attacking with numbers. Valencia prefer the counter.
Jonas!!!! On the counter, the Brazilian takes a shot from outside the box, but Roberto one-hands the ball out for a corner. Great save!
Geijo. Wow. He beats Ruiz with a clever cut inside the box, but then proceeds to send the ball into row H.
Valencia are again dominating after Granada's spell. Banega nearly finds the net from a tough angel. Corner to Valencia. Feels like the second goal is just moments away.
Yellow Card Jérémy Mathieu
Lopez off the crossbar! Off a header, the defender sends the ball downwards, bouncing up and hitting the bar! Another bullet dodged by Valencia!
Valencia are suffering as Granada have turned the tide, looking more active. Evident by the sub made, the Champions League squad are trying to hang out.
Feghouli comes on for Piatti. Questionable sub there as Piatti has been fantastic.
Geijo!!!!!! Nearly 1-1! The attacker sends a low shot from the top of the box right by the left post! What a miss!
Canales sends Piatti through in the box with a soft pass on the right side, but the former Estudiantes star can't gain control of the ball, sending it past the by-line with a poor touch.
Pablo Hernandez is taken off in favour of Jonas.
Piatti! Wasted chance! The Argentine does well to infiltrate the box with a clever move, but his shot from inside the box slowly falls to Roberto. Weak effort.
More of the same here in the second half as Valencia continue to remain content with passing the ball and waiting to choose when to attack.
The second half is underway!
We will be back in minutes for the second half. Valencia clearly deserve to be up by more than one goal, but Roberto is playing well for Granada, still leaving the small club a chance at a decent result.
That it, that's the end of the first half at Mestalla. What are your thoughts on the game? Send them on Twitter to @RCGonzalez10
Moments left before halftime.
Banega!!!!!! Stellar, long shot by the former Boca Juniors man, but Roberto dives well to his right to make the stop. Another nice chance, another solid save.
Mollo!!! Siqueira sends in a cross to the back post, finding the attacker, but his low effort was saved well by Guaita. Offside called second later.
Possession is 61-39 in favour of Valencia at the moment.
Ohhh! Maduro nearly puts the corner in, but the ball is deflected out for another corner.
Miguel, Pablo and Canales working well down the right side, earning a corner after the former Benfica man's cross.
Yellow card for the ref? He just took down Canales with a sliding tackle, well, actually, he just felt down, but it sure looked like a tackle! He gets up and apologies to the midfielder a moment after.
There is so much space down the right side for Hernandez to continue to dominant. You'd have to think one of these crosses will end up in the back of the net.
Roberto has responded well in goal after Canales' early strike, pouncing on crosses with sensational timing. How much longer he can hold on remains to be seen as Valencia continue to attack with everything.
Pablo Hernandez continues to terrorize down the right wing, sending in cross after cross, looking for Soldado's head.
Pablo Hernandez gets into the action with a darting run towards goal, combined with some clever moves. Ball goes out for a corner.
Just as that's being said, Fran Rico takes a long free-kick, drilling it right at goal, but Guaita does well to knock it out for a corner, though Granada fail to scare Valencia as they eliminate the cross with a clearance.
Corner kick to Valencia as Piatti continues to be a huge threat. It's been a bit since Granada have gone on attack. The midfield of Valencia has controlled the ball well, not allowing the visitors get touches.
Valencia are passing the ball around with ease, moving in to space well with low, efficient passes. Granada are on their heels, looking for a way to stop the constant possession. Valencia, contrary to recent games, are looking to attack more up the middle.
Mathieu nearly finds the net from inside the box with a curling effort that flies by the right post. All the momentum and possession to the home side in the opening stages.
The goal is Canales' first for Valencia, and what a goal it was!
Assist Pablo Piatti
GOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VALENCIA!!!!!! CANALES WITH A GREAT STRIKE!!!! Piatti heeled the ball to the on-loan striker on top of the box, and the youngster drilled a left-footed shot from the left side of the box into the lower right of the net!!
Both teams have been sloppy with the ball in the opening minutes, losing it a few times. Valencia are attacking with numbers, looking for the early goal.
The game is underway! Here we go!
