Had very little to do as Basel barely got a sight of goal throughout the 120 minutes. Distributed well before picking up a yellow card for time wasting late on.
Final ball was poor for the opening 35 minutes but improved after his chip into the area found Paco for the opener. Bombed forward at every opportunity.
Strong when called upon at the back and played some incisive passes into midfield. Forced off with an injury late in the second half.
Exceptional at left-back as he ran back and forth non-stop for the duration of the match. Put in some quality crosses before firing in the fifth in the closing stages.
Sat in front of the back four and kept Die relatively quiet. Passed the ball well to either flank and was a calming influence amongst the madness.
Set-pieces caused problems and passed the ball well in midfield. Should have done better when Bernat's pull back found him in space in the first half of extra time.
Solid at the back and played some nice passes forward on occasion. Had little to do defensively.
Ran Safari ragged on the Valencia right but his balls into the box weren't always of a high quality. Booked in the first half.
Pace caused problems and he found plenty of space on the left-hand side. Crosses weren't always great and he was replaced after 75 minutes.
Combined with Paco effectively and grabbed a goal himself with a fine header from Parejo's corner. Could have had more but saw Sommer save well twice.
Scored a hat-trick and could have had six if not for Sommer's heroics. Pick of the goals was his second as he smashed the ball into the top corner to pull the tie level.
Valencia would have been out of sight were it not for some quite outstanding saves. Twice denied Vargas while he went one better against Paco, pulling off three fantastic stops.
Looked nervy from the first whistle as he cleared the ball away from Sommer's hands after a free-kick into the box and got little better.
Booked early on but managed to stick with Feghouli for much of the match. Also limited the amount of times Pereira could get the ball into the box.
Marshaled the Basel defence well despite some of the goals they conceded. Stupidly got himself sent off after picking up two needless bookings within a minute of each other.
Mohamed El Nenny
Ran his legs off but showed little quality on the ball. Didn't have the defensive capabilities to keep Bernat quiet.
Struggled with Fede's pace and was lucky to go unpunished by the winger. Unable to deal with Bernat's late runs from full-back.
Lost Paco for the opener before losing the ball in the build-up to the third goal. Defended well late on when thrust into a central defensive role.
Almost got on the end of two fine balls into the box during the first half but he was a peripheral figure before being replaced.
G. Serey Die
Basel's best outfield player, he carried the ball well and looked like one of the few who wanted to play football. Shot narrowly over early on before seeing a late deflected effort slip wide of the post.
Set-pieces were regularly wayward and he continually lost the ball in midfield. Brainlessly kicked out at Costa to get himself sent off in extra-time.
Anonymous for most of his 53-minute stint on the pitch as he tried to get involved but his lack of movement left him with little to do.
Replaced Mathieu and was solid enough at the back. Was troubled by Sio's pace on occasion.
Given little time to make an impact but his pace saw him get down the left-hand side and cross for Paco to score the winning goal.
Twice shot off target in a quiet display after replacing Fede on the left-hand side.
