Swansea manager Michael Laudrup has several injury problems to mull over before the visit of Liverpool on Sunday.

Neil Taylor (ankle) is out for the rest of the season, but more recent problems include first-choice goalkeeper Michel Vorm (groin) and Ki Sung-Yong (hamstring).

Leroy Lita and Kyle Bartley (both thigh) will also be missing while Chico (leg), who was withdrawn during the Capital One Cup victory over Liverpool in October, could be fit enough for a place on the bench.

However, Rodgers will be pleased that his own selection issues seem to be slowly clearing up with just the one fresh injury concern following Andre Wisdom's (knee) withdrawal against Young Boys on Thursday night.

Elseswhere, Fabio Borini (foot) has not had much luck since joining from Roma in the summer and is not expected to return before the turn of the year, while Martin Kelly (knee) will be missing for even longer with a March 2013 comeback mooted.

Lucas Leiva (thigh) has played just twice in the Premier League this season and, although he is expected to be back in action before December, the trip to Swansea appears to have come too soon for him.

  DID YOU KNOW?
  • Liverpool have only won two of their last seven away matches in the Premier League, both of which were against Norwich City.

  • Brendan Rodgers will be returning to the Liberty Stadium for the first time since leaving the Swans for Liverpool in the summer.
  • Swansea’s only home win in their last five fixtures was against Wigan, while they drew a further three.

  • The two sides have faced each other once so far this season as Brendan Rodgers’ former side travelled to his new employers and came away with a 3-1 in the Capital One Cup.

  • With his current tally of 10 goals, Luis Suarez (pictured) is just one strike behind his overall haul of last season.

  • Liverpool have conceded just the one goal away from home in the Premier League so far this season. Manchester City are the only team with a better record.

  • Matches between Liverpool and Swansea average two goals a game, with 14 scored in their seven meetings.

De Guzman looks set to come up against the very man he was brought in to replace at the weekend with Joe Allen expected to start for Liverpool, but the midfielder’s style of play is more than suited to stopping the Welshman creating play, while pulling the strings for his own team at the same time.

The match could well see Swansea dominate possession and therefore have the better of the match, but that could provide Sterling’s pace with the perfect opportunity to capitalise on the counterattack. Either way, the 17-year-old will have to watched closely.

Prediction

The match certainly has the potential to entertain with both sides more than willing to attack, while neither are strong at the back, regardless of Liverpool’s good record on the road. Rodgers will be determined not to lose on his return to the Liberty Stadium and that could well be reflected in his team selection.
