  • Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken of his disappointment finishing second in the Premier League after leading the league for most of the final day. However he conceded Manchester City were deserved winners, he told BBC Final Score: " I don’t think anyone was expecting that (the finish), everyone expected City to win, they had to do it against 10 men for half an hour and they had five minutes of added time too. "I congratulate City on winning the league, it’s not an easy week to win its, anyone who wins it deserves it "I don’t think the players actually knew (what happened), the reaction of the fans told them, I don’t think they knew at the end of the game I didn’t know either until the Sunderland fans started cheering, then I knew we were in trouble "They [the players] are disappointed, glad to say they are very very disappointed, so they should be, they have conducted themselves well today, played really good football but for the Sunderland goalkeeper it could have been six or seven. "I’m pleased with the performance this season, 89 points would have been enough most season. It wasn’t our turn today."
  • That's it!!! This game has finished with United in the lead in the title race. Can City stage a comeback? Wayne Rooney goal was enough to secure the win for United but is it enough for the title.
  • IT'S OVER at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City have won the Premier League in the most dramatic of circumstances. What an incredible day. The title seemed to be United's hands after they beat Sunderland here, only for it to be snatched away by two injury time goals. Unbelievable!!! What a way to finish the season, it's so unfortunate for United bu City have done enough to win their first Premier League title and their first in the top flight since 1968.
  • GOALL!!! I don't believe it Aguero has scored to give City the lead at the Etihad Stadium. INCREDIBLE!!! The title has been snatched from United's hands in the last possible moment. Heartbreaking!!
  • 90' + 1'
GOALL!!! City have equalised have at the Etihad Stadium through Dzeko. Oh my goodness it's all still to play for. United have done all they can do, can City stage a comeback.
  • 90'
Three minutes of added time to be played as United look comfortable here. While five minutes have been added at the Etihad Stadium.
  • 87'
SAVE!!! Another great save from Mignolet to deny Giggs as his free-kick looked destined for the net. The Belgian managed to stick out a hand and palm the ball to safety, he's been the Black Cats best player today!
  • 85'
United are just passing the ball around with ease in the Sunderland half, the Black Cats can't get anywhere near them at the minute. Are we in for tense final five minutes here?
  • 82'
    Substitution Ashley Young Nani
  • 82'
The ball just isn't sticking for Sunderland upfront, United seem comfortable at the moment and aren't showing any signs of nerves. Will one goal be enough for them though!!
  • 78'
All action here at the Stadium of Light as the title stands on the edge of a knife. It's still 2-1 to QPR at the Etihad Stadium with 10 minutes left can Rangers hold out to help United clinch a historic 20th top flight title.
  • 76'
CHANCE and SAVE!! Mignolet has just made a tremendous save to deny Giggs from giving United a two goal cushion seconds after Scholes had hit the post from range. The ball rebounded to the Welshman who hit a splendid volley but the Belgian was up and tipped the ball over the bar. Great stuff.
  • 74'
    Substitution David Vaughan Connor Wickham
  • 74'
Sunderland look void of ideas at the moment and are coming up against some resilient United defending as they've been first to every ball around their own 18-yard box. Great stuff.
  • 71'
    Yellow Card Paul Scholes
  • 70'
After a raucous couple of minutes this game has settled down a bit as United are in control of the ball and are keeping it away from the Black Cats. Very tense atmosphere!!
  • 67'
    Yellow Card Michael Turner
  • 66'
CHANCE!! United miss a good chance to double their lead as Giggs can only hit the wall from a free-kick just outside the area and Valencia miscues the follow-up. This is getting tense!!
  • 65'
GOAL!! QPR have taken the lead at the Etihad Stadium it's 2-1 to Rangers and it's Jamie Mackie whose got it. United have one hand on the title.
  • 62'
    Substitution Phil Bardsley Wayne Bridge
  • 61'
Sunderland continue to push forward but look vulnerable against the United counter attack. With Young and Valencia especially dangerous.
  • 59'
News from the Etihad Stadium, QPR skipper Joey Barton has been sent off against his former club.
  • 58'
CHANCE!!! Young has just seen his effort blocked on the line by Gardner it's an excellent block by the midfielder as the ball looked destined for the net. So close for United, will they rue these missed chances??
  • 56'
    Yellow Card Ryan Giggs
  • 56'
Sunderland pressing again and it is all hands on deck for Manchester United as McClean's shot has to be blocked by Ferdinand. It's all action here and everywhere in the Premier League.
  • 54'
CHANCES!!! Sunderland threaten the United goal through Bardsley and Evans has to be on hand to block his goal-bound effort while Evra manages to stop Sessegnon from getting an effort away. That goal at the Etihad seems to have unsettled United slightly.
  • 50'
That goal at the Etihad seems to have brought the United fans back to life and their team are back in rhythm at the Stadium of Light and are knocking the ball around nicely.
  • 48'
GOAL! QPR have equalised against Manchester City with Djibril Cisse getting the goal. United have the lead at the top of the Premier League table.
  • 47'
SAVE!!! Great save from Simon Mignolet to deny Wayne Rooney after the England man was put one-on-one with the Belgian by Young, he let fly with a vicious volley but the keeper was equal to it and parried the ball away from goal.
  • 46'
We're back underway at the Stadium of Light for the final 45 minutes of the 2011-12 Premier League season.
  • Half-time at the Stadium of Light and United take a deserved lead into the break as Rooney's goal separates the two sides. It could have been better for the Red Devils but the England man missed an absolute sitter 10 minutes later. Sir Alex Ferguson's side did have the lead in title race only to be pegged back by Zabaleta's goal for City which seemed to effect them. Can they keep their heads in the second half.
  • 45'
Half-chance there for Valencia as he Evra raided down the left and crossed which evaded the Sunderland defence and fell at the feet of the former Wigan man but his shot was tame and straight at Mignolet. That City goal has taken the sting out of United slightly.
  • 43'
Substitution John O'Shea Ahmed El Mohamady
  • 42'
Sunderland are looking more dangerous in the final third as they're finally launching the ball into the box for Campbell whose holding his own against Evans and Ferdinand. Perhaps they should have started with two up top.
  • 39'
The news of the City goal has filtered through to the United fans at the Stadium of Light and there's a lot of displeased faces. Will it affect United in this game, can they hold their nerve?
  • 38'
GOAL! City take the lead against QPR and in the title race as Pablo Zabaleta gives them the lead at the Etihad Stadium.
  • 37'
    Yellow Card Phil Jones
  • 35'
CHANCE!!! It's Campbell' s turn to miss a sitter at the other end now as Sessegnon loops a lovely ball over the defence and which the striker takes first time and puts the ball wide. Campbell not only had time, he also had Gardner right behind him. A rush of blood to the head maybe!
  • 34'
CHANCE!!! Rooney has just missed an absolute sitter from 2-yards it's an unbelievable miss from the England man as all he had to do was tap the ball home and it was a goal. Valencia broke down the right and found Young in the box who scuffed his shot he his effort fell to Rooney who duly missed. Shocking stuff.
  • 31'
    Yellow Card Phil Bardsley
  • 31'
This game is so one-sided at the minute United are in complete control as Scholes and Giggs are dictating the tempo with ease while Young and Valencia are getting behind the Black Cats defence at will. Martin O'Neill may have to tinker with his side to get them back in this one.
  • 29'
OFF THE BAR!!! Rooney hits the bar with a splendid free-kick from just outside the area, the ball looped and dipped but not enough as Sunderland's blushes were saved by the woodwork.
  • 27'
SAVE!! Great save from Mignolet to deny Giggs from getting a second for United. Young weaved behind the Sunderland defence and found the Welshman unmarked on the edge of the area, his left-footed shot was on it's way to goal before the keeper stuck out a hand and palmed it away.
  • 25'
United are just passing the ball around with ease now and are in total control of this game. Sunderland have offered little going forward as Sessegnon has been isolated up front on his own. Ferguson will be delighted with what he's seen so far.
  • 23'
    Yellow Card Fraizer Campbell
Nasty challenge from Fraizer Campbell on Patrice Evra as he's caught him late, the Frenchman's lucky to escape injury from his former team-mate there. A deserved booking for the England man.
  • 20'
    Assist Phil Jones
  • 20'
    Goal Wayne Rooney
GOALLL!!!!! United take the lead and it's Rooney whose given them the lead in the game and in the title race!!! Jones' cross evaded the head of Turner and Rooney was left with a simple finish at the back post to head home past Mignolet. What a moment that could turn out to be!!!
  • 17'
CHANCE!!! Close for United as Jones heads just over the bar when all he had to do was get his effort on target. Mignolet came and misses Giggs' corner, leaving an opportunity for the young defender but he just couldn't guide his head below the bar. Very close!
  • 14'
Sunderland have had possession in this game but are struggling to get the ball into the box. They're missing the direct approach given to them by Nicklas Bendtner whose missing today from the squad.
  • 10'
United are coming into the game more and are getting behind the Sunderland defence. This time Valencia's cross is half headed clear by Turner and goes as far as Evra who hits another cross and again the former Hull City man is there. From a resulting corner Bardsley heads perilously close to his own goal before clearing. All United at the minute.
  • 7'
Oh chance for United now! Valencia skinned O'Shea down the United and right and hit dangerous cross towards Rooney but Mignolet got a hand to the ball, it looped up in his six-yard box and was sliced clear from Bramble. Not the best clearance but it was enough!
  • 6'
Half-chance for Sunderland as Vaughan strikes from the edge of the area bu De Gea has the ball well covered and makes a comfortable save after a decent counter attack from the Black Cats.
  • 5'
Better from United as they pass the ball around the Sunderland midfield in their own half but some resilient defending from Turner and Bramble forces a mistake and they manage to clear the danger.
  • 3'
First shot of the game and it's a tame effort from James McClean, who this week was picked in the Republic of Ireland's preliminary squad for Euro 2012, as his right-footed shot rolls tamely into the hands of David De Gea.
  • 2'
Scrappy start here as neither side has taken control of the ball yet, they've been lots of mis-placed passes in the opening two minutes. Will United's youngsters handle this occasion?

We're underway at the Stadium of Light!
  • The teams are out at the Stadium of Light. It's time to start the final game of the 2011-12 Premier League season. Can United pull off a miraculous result to steal the title from City or can QPR do them a favour? Stay with us for all the action!
  • We're getting closer to kick-off at the Stadium of Light and Sir Alex Ferguson thinks his side are in for a tough time against the Black Cats, he told SkySports: "It's a very difficult game here, people keep talking about the Manchester City - Queens Park Rangers game, they seem to forget we've got a very difficult game here. You never get it easy at Sunderland, I've never had it easy here. So we're going to have to perform really well to get the result we want."
  • Sunderland have made three changes to their team that lost 2-1 to Fulham at Craven Cottage last Saturday. Titus Bramble plays his first game since Boxing Day replacing Matt Kilgallon in defence. While Fraizer Campbell and David Vaughan come in for JiDong-Won and Lee Cattermole.
  • Sir Alex Ferguson has made two changes to his team that beat Swansea 2-0 last weekend. Ryan Giggs and Jonny Evans are recalled to replace Javier Hernandez and Chris Smalling. United are expected to line-up with a five-man midfield with Giggs, Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick occupying the central positions. While Evans is a straight swap for Smalling at centre-back.
  • Team News: Manchester United: De Gea; Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra (c); Valencia, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs, Young; Rooney. Subs: Amos (g) Owen, Berbatov, Park, Hernandez, Nani, Rafael.
  • Team News: Sunderland: Mignolet; O’Shea (c), Bramble, Turner, Bardsley; Gardner, Colback, Vaughan, McClean; Sessegnon; Campbell. Subs: Westwood (g), Bridge, Wickham, Dong-won, Meyler, Kyrgiakos, Elmohamady.
  • What a crucial game for the visitors it is! United need a lot of things to go their win to clinch a 20th top flight crown. So if the Red Devils win or draw and City lose the title is theirs. If Sir Alex Ferguson's side win by 10 goals at the Stadium of Light and City win by a single goal the title is again United's. Very complicated I know.
