The Benin International has impressed since his arrival for £6million from PSG in January. His creative spark and dynamic play is something Sunderland have been missing this season, and they should benefit particularly from his ability on the ball and eye-catching skill. He is also very direct and is not afraid to run at players, which could be an issue for Liverpool in the full-back positions given Glen Johnson's defensive frailties and Jamie Carragher’s lack of pace.

Although the winger is yet to find the net for the Black Cats he has come close on several occasions including rattling the bar at Goodison Park against Liverpool’s Merseyside rivals Everton last month. The Reds will have to be wary against Sessegnon breaking his scoring duck against them.

The £35million man destroyed Sunderland when he played for Newcastle in the Tyne-Wear in October, when the Magpies won 5-1. The England striker is expected to make his first start in the Premier League for the Reds and will probably partner Luis Suarez in attack.

His physical presence should cause the Black Cats problems especially from set-pieces where they have struggled recently. The striker’s ability to bring other players into play with knock-downs and flick-ons could also be a problem for Steve Bruce’s side as they may have to cope with many runners from midfield, as Carroll is just as good a provider as he is goalscorer.
Sunderland have been good at home this season, losing only three times, while Liverpool have been inconsistent over the last few weeks and have never won after playing in the Europa League this season.

The Black Cats also have a few players returning from injury so they will almost be back to full strength after a horrendous run with injuries which included influential captain Lee Cattermole missing two months of the season. The Reds will be missing Steven Gerrard which will be a huge blow and one which could cost them in a tight game.
