Made a couple of dodgy clearances early on, but had very little to do otherwise.
Solid at the back and occasionally managed to add to Stoke's attack - firing one particularly vicious ball across the face of goal.
Saw an ambitious strike go way over the bar. Looked comfortable against a whole host of stars in the opposition side.
Solid performance from the centre-back, who headed away plenty of balls into the box.
The big defender made a number of clearances under pressure and helped limit City to longer-range efforts. Soldiered on after his face collided with Negredo's knee, with all of Stoke's subs already on.
Didn't offer much going forward but, after a tough start, settled down well at left-back.
Allowed City a chance when Toure caught him in possession too easily, and then squandered one at the other end by taking too long on the ball. Was again hesitant when he broke through late on, and allowed the chance to go begging, but did provide good defensive protection.
Pulled most of Stoke's strings, creating a great chance for Walters and testing Hart with a decent effort himself. Not afraid to put himself about, either. Received a very warm ovation when he was replaced.
The winger wasn't as effective as he can be and failed to target Garcia in City's defence with his usual high standard of crossing. Made way for Ireland.
Somehow headed wide with a fantastic opportunity early in the game. Inches away from connecting with a dangerous Cameron cross, with which he would have scored.
Unfortunate to be left a little isolated at times, but still proved a handful. Worked hard to close down City's defence and probably should have scored after stealing the ball off Nasri. Went close twice more before being forced off through injury.
Spared Nasri's blushes with a good stop to deny Jones, and showed lightning reactions to brilliantly prevent Nastasic from finding his own net. Otherwise a welcome quiet game for England's number one.
Always eager to get forward on the left, and went close with a decent free kick. Sometimes his positioning was questionable, though.
Combined well with Milner as he charged forward on the right. Solid as ever at the back, too, stopping a sure goal after a Garcia blunder.
Solid performance from the promising centre-back, who made numerous important tackles and interceptions. Fortunate to see Hart stop him from finding his own net though.
As usual ran City's midfield, driving them forwards and breaking up a number of Stoke attacks. His normally excellent final product - whether it be the defence-splitting pass or individual piece of magic - was missing, though.
Doesn't fill you with confidence at centre-back. Almost gifted Stoke a golden opportunity with a shaky, misplaced pass - only to be saved by Zabaleta.
Quiet game from the Englishman who failed to threaten on the front foot. Fairly solid defensively though, as he did what was needed.
Opened some early doors with his vision but wasted a decent chance of his own before his creativity waned. Criminally lost the ball just outside his own box but was fortunate to see Hart save from Jones. Brought off in the second half.
Looked decent in the opening stages as he teamed up with Zabaleta on the right, but faded as the game went on.
Failed to make much of an impact on his debut, scuffing a couple of shots harmlessly wide and firing a volley off-target from a good position. Headed a great chance wide too, and was duly replaced by Aguero.
Was virtually non-existent up-front for most of the game, though he did create a decent chance for Jovetic. Helped defend set-pieces with his ariel ability.
The former Manchester City man replaced Etherington with just over 20 minutes left and looked decent on the ball.
Came on for Adam in the second half and instantly fired in a cross that almost forced Nastasic to score an own goal. Wasted a late free kick by lashing it well over the bar, though.
