Spain all but booked their place in Russia 2018 last month as their 3-0 demolition of Italy at the Bernabeu putting them in pole position to claim top spot in Group G.
La Roja's penultimate game is at home to Albania on Friday evening, and their opponents need to win their last two games and hope Italy lose their final two matches to have any hope of claiming a play-off place.
Realistically, of course, Albania have little chance of making the World Cup, yet they will look to give a strong account of themselves and when the two sides met last year they frustrated Julen Lopetgeui's men in a goalless first half; Spain went on to win the game 2-0 and they should win Friday's encounter in Alicante, although it might not be an overly high scoring game.
Perhaps an appealing angle for this game is backing under 3.5 goals at 17/20 (1.85), and while opposing a high-scoring match when Spain is involved might feel wrong, in reality this selection has paid out in three of their last five matches.
Given La Roja have never lost a home World Cup qualifier, we can readily assume a home win is on the cards and this bet pays out in a 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 or 3-0 victory for Spain.
In fact, the only time in their last five matches that Spain have scored more than three goals is against Lichenstein, and in Albania they will find opponents who have previously been able to contain them at least for 45 minutes.
Furthermore, each one of Albania's last 14 matches in all competitions have seen less than 3.5 goals, including matches against Spain, Italy and France, and backing less than four goals on Friday evening looks like an intelligent option.
