AND IT IS OVER! Sevilla recorded a comfortable win as they disposed of a fairly poor Atletico Madrid side at the Sanchez Pizjuan. Negredo, Perotti and Kanoute scored for the hosts before Diego Costa's consolation strike in the 59th minute. It is good night from me, Vasil Kotsev! Stay with us for our post-match materials. Bye, for now!
90' + 3'
Caceres makes a bad challenge on Diego Costa on the left side of the box. The referee could have easily given a penalty for this dangerous action by the defender.
90' + 1'
Luis Fabiano with a free-kick from 35 yards out on the left ... High and wide, that was a good chance!
Capelo is replaced by Alfaro. The winger put in a second half performance.
Three minutes till the final whistle and the game is crawling to end. The tempo has certainly dropped in the last ten minutes as neither teams is putting much effort to change the scoreline.
Guarente replaces Romaric. The Ivorian had a fine game tonight overall.
Yellow Card Abdoulay Konko
LUIS FABIANO! The striker received the ball from Romaric near the penalty area semi-circle, turned with the ball and shot for the left corner, but his drive was meek and did not trouble De Gea.
Raul Garcia replaces Assuncao as Quique Sanchez Flores is looking to come back into the game.
Atletico Madrid are really piling on the pressure as they might as well get back into the game if they continue to play like this. One has the feeling that the same scenario from Los Colchoneros's game against Leverkusen has been on show today.
DIEGO COSTA! The striker received the ball on the right wing, skinned Navarro and crossed from the byline, but Palop got a hand on the ball and it was subsequently cleared before Forlan could reach it.
Capel made a wonderful block on Ujfalusi on the right side of the box and Atletico Madrid won a corner. The resulting set-piece resulted in nothing.
Caceres concedes a corner kick on the left. Simao takes it .... Right into the hands of Palop. Poor delivery here.
Negredo leaves the pitch for Luis Fabiano to the sound of rousing cheers from the home support. The striker put in a great shift tonight.
Navarro makes a great challenge on Ujfalusi on the left wing yet again. The defender has had a wonderful second half so far.
WONDERFUL SAVE BY PALOP! Siamo took a corner on the left and floated the ball into the box, where Forlan flicked it on to Diego Costa, whose header from just outside the six-yard area was impressively palmed away by Palop. That could have been goal number two for Atletico Madrid.
Ujfalusi is lucky to escape a booking after he brought down Capel on the left wing.
It is a long shot, but the more optimistic Atletico Madrid fans may say that the visitors have a chance to get something out of this game. I seriously doubt that.
GOAL! Atletico Madrid claw one back! Diego Costa the scorer! Poor defending from Caceres who let a cross from Merida from just inside Sevilla's half into the box go past him and into the path of Costa, who rounded the goalkeeper and finished from the right side of the penalty area. The ball hit the right post, after being deflected by De Gea and crawled into the net.
Goal Diego Costa
One has to be amused at how easily Perea let the cross from Capel reach Negredo for the third goal, and also how come Dominguez did not have the striker marked.
This game seems to be as good as over now as I personally do not see how Atletico Madrid can come back from being three goals down, especially with this kind of gameplay.
PEROTTI! Navarro did superbly to get to the byline, making fool of Ujfalusi, and teed up the ball for Perotti in the goal area, but the Argentinian's shot from 6 yards out went over the bar, and how!
GOAL! KANOUTE SCORES! Perotti made a wonderful run down the left, skipping past two players and shielding the ball superbly on the edge of the box, before crossing for Negredo in the centre of the box, who quickly flicked the ball for the overlapping Kanoute in the penalty area semi-circle and the striker fired in a powerful low shot in the left corner.
Goal Fred Kanouté
Da Costa could have been quite easily sent off after he stepped on Caceres's chest with his stubs, although unintentionally.
Filipe replaced Lopez and half-time, while Da Costa comes in for Mario Suarez.
The second half begins ...
45' + 2'
The referee blows his whistle for the end of the first half. Sevilla are cruising at the Sanchez Pizjuan as goals from Negredo and Perotti see them lead at half-time. Atletico Madrid, for their part, are struggling to create anything of note in front of goal and are having a particularly tough time handling Perotti. Will the current Europa League holders storm back or will they concede more? Join us after the break to find out!
45' + 1'
Simao was caught under Perotti's stubs on the left wing, near Sevilla's right corner flag. The young winger is booked for this dangerous play.
Yellow Card Perotti
NEGREDO! The striker received the ball on the edge of the box, a little on the right, and let it fly, but De Gea made a wonderful save and tipped the ball over the bar. The resulting corner, however, resulted to nothing.
PEROTTI! The Argentinian intercepted an extremely poor pass by Tiago in the centre of the pitch, the winger advanced in Atletico Madrid's half and found himself in a one-on-one situation with Dominguez, but this time the defender did well to close down the attacker's whose shot was blocked the centre-half.
Comical situation on the pitch as four Sevilla players are struggling to clear a simple loose ball on the left the box. In the end Romaric makes the "vital" interception.
Atletico Madrid seems stunned by the eight-minute double salvo from Sevilla. They are unable to string any significant moves and things are quickly turning blue for them.
Yellow Card Negredo
GOAL! PEROTTI SCORES! Kanoute saw his shot from the left of the box blocked by Atletico Madrid's last line of defence - De Gea, but the rebound fell to Perotti outside the penalty area, who hit the ball on the volley, it deflected off Perea's back and nested in the left corner.
NEGREDO! The striker received the ball near the penalty box on the left and went on a fine run on the byline, skipping past three challenges, before finally having the ball removed from his feet by De Gea.
KANOUTE! The striker tried to head from a cross near the right corner flag, but the pass from Perotti was overhit and the chance went begging.
GOAL! NEGREDO SCORES A STUNNER! Perotti threaded a wonderful through ball in front of Assuncao and Suarez and Lopez for Negredo just inside the box, and the striker curled a wonderful shot in the top left corner to open the scoring.
The game is getting scrappy as Simao is booked for another needless challenge on the left wing on Capel.
Yellow Card Simão
Capel is booked for a hand-ball in the centre of the pitch. Completely needless intervention by the winger.
Yellow Card Diego Capel
MERIDA! The playmaker latched onto a wonderful through-ball near the penalty spot, and, clear on goal was denied by Palop who came quickly off the line to thwartd the danger. The ball fell to Forlan on the left of the box, who, however, did not manage to strike the ball well on the volley and it went over the bar.
ROMARIC! The Ivorian took the resulting free-kick, but his powerful shot was blocked by De Gea in the centre of the goal. Atletico Madrid seem unable to stop Sevilla.
Lopez is dubiously booked for a push on the right of the box ... That was a clear referee mistake.
Yellow Card Antonio López
HORRIBLE LUNGE BY TIAGO! The Portugues hacked down Romaric with a horrific tackle, and is lucky to escape with just a yellow.
Yellow Card Tiago
Negredo with a free-kick around 30 yards in front of goal .... Hits the wall! Wasted opportunity.
Sevilla are coming in this game on the back of a hard-fought win over Borussia Dortmund on Thursday. The hosts have been the better side so far and it seems that Gregorio Manzano has made an instant impact on the team.
PEROTTI! What a miss! Romaric released the winger through on goal on the right ofthe box, but he took a step too much and was tackled superbly by Lopez.
CACERES! Perroti combined with Romaric following a corner on the right and a crossed for Caceres in the centre of the box, but the defender's header flew over the bar.
PEROTTI! The winger bombed down the left and tried to cross from the byline, but his pass was blocked by Antonio Lopez. The resulting free-kick amounted to nothing.
Atletico Madrid: De Gea; Ujfalusi, Perea, Dominguez, Lopez; Merida, Suarez, Assuncao, Simao; Tiago, Forlan.
Line-ups: Sevilla: Palop; Konko, Alexis, Caceres, Navarro; Perotti, Romaric, Renato, Capel; Negredo, Kanoute.
And they are off!
