Commentary

That brings our Nations League coverage to an end. Both Scotland and Albania will face Israel for their next outings in the competition, in Haifa and Beer Sheva, respectively. Thanks for joining us!
It's been a tough run for McLeish since his second spell as manager got underway. He called this a must-win victory ahead of kick-off, and the Scottish players responded to that remark, overcoming a wasteful first 45. Naismith, in particular, rallied well after missing a big chance, forcing an own goal for the first and scoring the second. Albania failed to find the target in the first half, and registered just two shots on Scotland's goal after the break. McGregor deserves credit for weathering the storm with his efforts between the sticks, but it was Scotland’s match to lose.
90' + 4' FULL TIME: SCOTLAND 2-0 ALBANIA
L. Memushaj
Yellow Card
Albania
90' + 3' An unnecessary late foul comes from Memushaj. His booking will be the last contribution of this match.
90' + 3' Somehow, Robertson still has enough energy to mount an attack down the left-wing. His team-mates can't quite match him.
E. Mihaj
F. Veseli
Albania
90' + 1' Veseli departs and 20-year-old Mihaj comes on to make his debut.
90' To Scotland's credit, they are still trying to find avenues into the Albanian box. The final pass is lacking with three minutes of stoppage time to play.
89' O'Donnell has a tired effort along the floor saved by Strakosha.
88' There's been no late onslaught from Albania and Scotland are beginning to tire.
86' One of the most reassuring things for McLeish will be the simple fact that his side have found the net. After a run that saw them score in 15 consecutive home fixtures, Scotland have failed to score in the last three games they’ve hosted. Four would've been a record, but not today.
84' McTominay has been the right addition for the closing stages, as Scotland near an important victory. He's making himself available all the time.
82' Tierney is coping well with the threat of Hysaj. The Napoli man hasn't been able to get forward much tonight.
H. Prenga
Yellow Card
Albania
80' Prenga's tackle on McTominay was really poor, not looking to play the ball as the midfielder ran towards the box.
S. McTominay
C. McGregor
Scotland
79' On comes the tall 21-year-old for McGregor, and he wins a free-kick straight away on the edge of the Albanian area.
77' Manchester United's McTominay will feature for the last ten-or-so minutes here. McLeish is looking to solidy that midfield.
76' Albania get a free-kick midway inside Scotland's half before opting for a short ball. The move soon dies. Christian Panucci will not be happy with how his side have used dangerous positions.
74' We're approaching the last quarter-of-an-hour and Albania are still desperately trying to get some consistent possession going.
72' Unsurprisingly, there's more confidence in Scotland's play with the result, you would think, now wrapped up.
L. Griffiths
J. Russell
Scotland
70' On comes Celtic striker Griffiths. Russell leaves the pitch after plenty of hard running.
S. Naismith
Goal
Scotland
68' Naismith finally has his goal and it's 2-0! The 31-year-old picks up the scraps from the corner, not needing to jump before heading into an empty net. Take that, dubious goals panel.
67' A great run from Robertson ends with a cross for McGregor. His steered shot deflects out for a corner.
R. Manaj
E. Ndoj
Albania
66' Manaj replaces the outgoing Ndoj.
66' Albania have tried numerous times to get on the ball and dictate in this match, even for a few minutes, but it just hasn't happened.
E. Ndoj
Yellow Card
Albania
64' Ndoj is booked for a sliding tackle on McGinn, who did well to turn and shield the ball.
63' Naismith floats a ball into the back post but there's a worrying lack of runners following the pass into the box. A change up front will surely happen if it happens again.
61' Scotland are enjoying a good spell with the ball now, and are quickly thwarting any Albania counters.
59' McGregor looks like he could be in on goal, only for Veseli to use his strength and ensure the ball goes for a corner.
59' If the score stays the same, Scotland will go unbeaten in their last seven competitive fixtures, stretching back to their World Cup qualifying campaign.
57' Souttar reacts quickly as Balaj chases down a loose ball in behind. Albania look a far better side offensively since the break.
55' McLeish has clearly given Tierney license to roam as the home side search for a second. Scotland are looking to overload Albania on the left as much as possible.
54' It's not at all controlled from Scotland at the moment, even if they have the lead.
52' McGregor is joining Scotland's forwards whenever he can at the moment.
50' Goalkeeper McGregor is called into action, parrying away a side-footed effort from Balaj inside the box.
49' Naismith's long-running battle with the back of the net continues. UEFA have given Scotland's strike as an own goal.
B. Djimsiti
Own Goal
Albania
47' 1-0 Scotland! Naismith returns with an eye for goal! Armstrong immediately leaves his mark, teeing up Robertson who guides a cross to the back post for Naismith to head home. That was the first attack of the second half.
H. Prenga
E. Gavazaj
Albania
46' Gavazaj makes way for Prenga, who only made his Albania debut against Israel last week.
S. Armstrong
K. McDonald
Scotland
46' Southampton midfielder Armstrong comes on for McDonald, who was booked in the first half.
45' Albania restart the game after half-time.
Albania won't want to bank on further wastefulness from Scotland, but the longer this goes on the more confident they'll feel of nabbing a result. However, the Eagles haven't won consecutive matches since September last year. More shots on target are needed from both sides after the break, with just three to speak of so far.
Well, the effort and intensity were there from McLeish's Scotland side but their lack of quality let them down. Naismith was a late call-up ahead of this international break, and that's perhaps told with his lack of conviction up front. The former Everton forward had the goal at his mercy when a header fell to him from two yards out, only to find the frame of the goal.
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: SCOTLAND 0-0 ALBANIA
45' There won't be any added time at the end of this first half.
43' That give-away by McGinn was exactly how Belgium scored several of their goals here at Hampden last week. Albania aren't quite as clinical.
42' McGinn gives the ball away in a dangerous position. Fortunately for him, an Albanian attacker can't get hold of his shot on the edge of Scotland's box.
41' Naismith finally has the ball in the net... but it's offside. Robertson plays a smart disguised pass into McGregor, before the Celtic midfielder blasts goalwards. The flag goes up after Naismith diverts it home.
39' We're closing in on the interval, and it's been a great battle between both captains, Robertson and Hysaj.
38' Keeping in theme with their lack of firepower so far, the Eagles don't pose a threat from said corner.
38' Albania have their first corner of the match.
36' McDonald lashes a shot way over the crossbar.
34' It's not going well for Naismith. He couldn't sort his feet out with the hosts probing for an opener before half-time. Robertson is getting plenty of room to work with on the left.
32' A stray arm from Balaj seems to hit Tierney in the face during an Albania attack, causing the referee to award a Scotland free-kick. The visitors still haven't threatened McGregor.
31' McGinn has been the go-to guy for Scotland with half-an-hour played. He's completed 94.1 percent of his passes so far.
29' Another big opportunity almost falls for Naismith. He doesn't expect a lovely driven cross from Tierney, thanks to an Albanian body blocking his path and the ball.
27' The away side are yet to register a shot on target in Glasgow.
26' Albania could've been in on goal immediately after, only for Balaj to miscontrol a long ball over the top, with just McGregor in his way.
24' Huge chance for Scotland! Naismith will be baffled as to how he's not scored. A free-kick sails in before Mulgrew directs a header towards the Hearts striker at the back post. His point-blank header hits the post and ricochets agonisingly wide.
23' McGinn surges towards the penalty area with a chance to shoot. The Aston Villa midfielder's attempt is the opposite of Lilaj's, tame and into the keeper's gloves.
22' It opens up for Lilaj from distance, although his powerful effort is just that as it sails into the stands.
22' Just two shots on target from six so far for McLeish's side.
20' Robertson opts to pass from a dangerous position when he might have shot. Another attack goes flat.
19' We're closing in on twenty minutes played here and Scotland will feel they probably ought to have tested Strakosha more.
K. McDonald
Yellow Card
Scotland
18' McDonald goes into the book for a cheap foul.
17' Scotland really should've found the target there. More activity down the right, as Russell gets ahead of his marker in the box with the ball pulled back. The Sporting Kansas City man can't connect with the chance.
J. Souttar
Yellow Card
Scotland
16' Souttar is booked after clattering into Ndoj.
15' Albania venture forward properly for the first time down their right wing. McGregor comes out to claim a tame cross.
13' Scotland only just shading possession at the moment but they're in control.
12' Robertson gets space pushing on from wing-back before dinking a cross just too far and out for a goal kick.
10' Mulgrew whips a free-kick at Strakosha after Naismith has his shirt pulled thirty yards from goal. The Albanian stopper just about does enough to hold on.
9' McLeish will be pleased with the tempo so far. Scotland controlling the game and prompting fouls from the visitors in dangerous areas.
7' McGregor tries to weave his way in and out of everyone in the Albanian box. He fools a few before the move dies.
6' I mentioned Scotland's left flank prior to kick-off but all the action has been down the right so far.
5' Wicked set-piece delivery from Robertson with the ensuing corner. Albania make a mess of clearing but it goes for a goal kick.
4' McGregor goes directly for goal, despite the tight angle, and forces a corner.
3' Russell is brought down cynically by an Albanian defender on the right edge of the penalty area.
2' Tierney starts at left centre-half in that back three tonight. McDonald often drops back into defence for Fulham, so the Celtic starlet will surely have opportunities to get forward himself.
1' The home side have predictably gone right at their guests from the first whistle. Robertson the furthest forward player as he presses the Albanian defence.
1' Scotland get us underway in Glasgow.
The travelling Albanian fans were in good voice for the national anthem. Flower of Scotland is next, and the rain is pouring down.
The teams step out on the Hampden turf ahead of kick-off.
Napoli regular Hysaj and Xhaka, brother of Granit, are two of the more recognisable faces in Albania’s team. Xhaka bagged the winner against Israel last Friday.
Ryan Fraser doesn't make the squad tonight due to injury, but there’s still plenty to test the Albanians down Scotland’s left-hand side. Captain Robertson is sure to bomb forward on the overlap to help the forwards whenever he can.
Alex McLeish has left the likes of Armstrong, Griffiths and Forrest out his first competitive XI since returning to the national side, with his most recent managerial job being a stint at Egyptian side Zamalek in 2016.

It’s played one and won one for the visitors on Nations League duty, having beaten Israel in their debut match. The Eagles participated in their first ever major tournament at Euro 2016. You might remember that they gave France a tough time, before a cruel, late defeat and elimination at the group stage. We'll have the line-ups in just moment.
Scotland haven’t qualified for a major tournament since the 1998 World Cup, and would have a second chance at securing Euro 2020 entry should qualification go wrong again – if they win their group. The four group winners from each league qualify for a play-off, set to be played in March 2020, with the winner of each play-off securing a qualification berth.
Friday’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of Belgium was less than ideal preparation for Scotland’s Group C1 opener, in a competition that perhaps contains more importance for them than the other home nations.
Hello and welcome to coverage of the Nations League clash featuring Scotland and Albania at Hampden Park, the first ever internatonal meeting between these two sides.
