THE GAME IS OVER! Schalke 04 take the three points! Jose Manuel Jurado scored the only goal of the game with a great volley to give the three points to Ralf Rangnick's side. It is good night from me, Vasil Kotsev! Join us later today for our live coverage of Udinese - Roma!
90' + 2'
Jefferson Agustin Farfán
90' + 2'
It is Farfan, however. The Pervuian had a great game today, assisting the sole goal in this game.
Yellow Card Alexander Baumjohann
Jurado was replaced by Anthony Annan a minute ago. There is a rumour going that Schalke 04 have not paid the transfer fee for the ex-Rosenborg midfielder.
Patrick Helmes has the ball in the net, but it was ruled out for offside. Correct decision by the referee.
RAUL! The striker managed to make his way through three defenders, but he let the ball go a way to Riether, who cleared the danger.
Terrible control from Schaefer as he failed to stop or shoot from a Diego through-ball on the left side of the box. It was a pretty hard pass, but still ...
Schalke are heading to their third win in a week! First they dispatched St Pauli 2-0 at the Millentor-Stadion, then they made short work of Inter Milan at San Siro, and now are on their way to a victory over Felix Magath's new club - Wolfsburg.
Helmes replaces Koo Ja-Cheol. Felix Magath will be hoping the ex-Leverkusen man can make the difference upfront.
Great play by Raul Gonzalez Blanco as he earns a corner on the left from Schaefer.
Assist Jefferson Agustin Farfán
GOAL! JURADO! The midfielder was picked out superbly by Farfan on the left side of the box, controlled with his chest and volleyed past Benaglio and into the right corner.
Jan Polak replaced Cicero for Wolfsburg a couple of minutes ago. The ex-Anderlecht man, who arrived in the winter will be keen to impress in this game.
Wonderful interception by Matip as he heads away just before Diego could reach the ball on the right side of the box. Great marking by the defender here.
Raul behind the ball .. his delivery reaches Edu who heads out for a goal kick.
Edu wins a free-kick on the right after forcing Madlung into a foul just on the edge of the penalty area. Suspicions of elbowing here.
BAUMJOHANN! The midfielder received the ball outside the box, turned, lost his footing, but still managed to send a nice shot for the left corner, which Benaglio managed to deal with.
End to end action at the Veltins-arena. Will there be goals, too?
JURADO! THEN BAUMJOHANN! Jurado was picked out near the penalty spot and had his initial shot blocked, but the ball fell to Baumjohann, who took a few steps before he, too, saw his finish blocked.
The tempo has been very high in the last couple of minutes, but there have been no real chances for either team.
GRAFITE! AND THEN HASEBE! The Brazilian was released on the left side of the box, and tried to shake off Pekarik, but only managed to shoot at the defender. The ball fell to Hasebe, who, too, saw his finish blocked by a Wolfsburg player.
Farfan is on the pitch and is at the centre of things again as a cross by the Peruvian reaches Raul in the centre of the box, but he made minimal contact with the ball and it went out for a goal kick.
EDU! The striker managed for shake off Pekarik and let it fly from outside the box, but his powerful shot flew wide of the left post! Great movement by the striker!
Yellow Card Koo Ja-Cheol
Cicero blocks a ball in the way of Uchida, who sees a wonderful long-range drive from the right wing saved comfortably by Benaglio in goal for Wolfsburg.
Yellow Card Cícero
Cicero is booked for a push from behind on Farfan on the centre of the pitch. The striker fell awkwardly and could be substituted.
OH! So poor by Grafite! The striker was released by Diego just outside the box and managed to dispose of Howedes before sending a very poor finish high and wide of the left corner.
Yellow Card Grafite
Grafite is booked for a tough challenge on Neuer as both were trying to reach a through-ball. The goalkeeper was first and the striker committed a foul.
Pekarik replaced Kjaer at half-time. Whether it was for tactical reasons are an injury remains to be seen.
The second half begins ...
45' + 1'
The first-half is through! The game has not really lived up to the hype so far with a few half-chances for both sides, but nothing serious. Wolfsburg have been the more active team in the first half with some good shots coming from Grafite and company. The game will be more interesting after the break. I promise.
Grafite is brought down by Matip in the centre of the pitch. That was not much of a foul to be honest.
Not much happening on the pitch now as both teams seem to be waiting for the half-time whistle.
SCHAEFER! The left-back sent in a crashing drive for the right corner from the left wing, but Neuer reacted superbly and palmed away his stinger for a corner on the right. Nothing came off that set-piece, though.
Lukas Schmitz brings down Diego with a rough bodycheck in the centre of the pitch. It was a tough foul, indeed.
GRAFITE! The striker received the ball on the left wing and managed to shake off Uchida and find some space to shoot from just outside the box. His finish, however, was sub-par and went wide of the left post.
Cicero and Riether combine on the left wing band Brazilian sends a weak cross into the penalty area, which Hoewedes confidently clears.
Diego with a corner on the left ... Papadopoulous rises above all and clears the ball.
Diego has been pretty anonymous so far as he has offered very little aside from a few misplaced through-balls.
OH! SO CLOSE! Grafite! The striker was picked out by Riether from the left wing, and the Brazilian just could not reach the ball after shaking off Papadopoulous inside the penalty area.
The tempo has dropped in the last couple of minutes with both teams cautiously waiting for mistakes by the opposition.
Magath does not seem to be too worried or excited, but his team do play well in the last ten minutes or so.
Grafite is incorrectly flagged for offside after he was picked out by Diego just outside Schalke's box. It was an interesting decision as Sarpei, who was lying on the ground, was covering the offside.
KJAER! The Danish international was a whisker away from heading in from close range after Diego lifted the ball over Schalke's defence from a corner on the left.
Hoewedes puts it out for a corner on the left after a danegour cross from Schaefer on the left wing was going to Grafite. Diego behind the ball ...
Grafite is caught offside as Diego tried to release him downthe left. We have seen precious little from the Brazilian striker so far.
First attack for Wolfsburg as Riether releases Hasebe on the right wing, but the Japanese international's subsequent cross is blocked by Sarpei for a corner on the left. Nothing came off that set-piece, though.
Overhit by Diego. Inexplicably poor delivery by the ex-Juventus man here.
Wolfsburg are yet to create a meaningful attack in this game. Free-kick for Die Woelfe 50 yards from goal now... Diego behind the ball.
SCHMITZ! The midfielder let it fly from 30 yards out after he was picked out from the right wing, but his thunderbolt miss just wide of the top left corner.
Schmitz gets himself into a little talk with Riether and the linesman. regarding a throw-in. Lucky not to be shown the yellow card here ...
RAUL! Poor header from the Real Madrid legend! Farfan send a stunning cross for Raul near the penalty spot from the right wing, and the striker headed way over the bar with Riether just standing there,
Very good start from Schalke, who look up and running for this game after their triumph in midweek against Inter.
OH! RULED OUT! Raul slid a wonderful through-ball for Farfan down the right wing, the Peruvian raced ahead of Madlung and chipped over Benaglio for the opening goal, but it was ruled out for offside.
The game begins ...
Julian Draxler is about to come on ... Probably it will be Raul, who will leave the pitch.
Benaglio; Riether, Kjaer, Madlung, Schaefer; Josue, Cicero, Diego, Hasebe; Ja-Cheol, Grafite.
Schalke: Neuer, Uchida, Hoewedes, Papadopoulous, Sarpei; Farfan, Schmitz, Matip; Raul, Jurado, Edu.
Hello and welcome to Goal.com's live coverage of tonight's game between Schalke and Wolfsburg. There are a lot of background to this game, but we should probably start with the most important one - Felix Magath returns to Veltin-Arena less than a month after he has been dismissed from the Schalke hotseat. Now at Wolfsburg he will be keen to get back at the directors that let him go, while the players who rubbed him the wrong way when he was in charge of Die Koenigsblauen will be looking to prove him wrong. My name is Vasil Kotsev and I will be keeping you company for the next two hours or so...
