Pep Guardiola's men trail Borussia Dortmund heading into the sixth matchday of the Bundesliga season, but Arjen Robben says die Roten are feeling confident

Bayern Munich will aim to extend their unbeaten start to the Bundesliga season when they travel to the Veltins Arena to face Schalke.

Pep Guardiola's side have won four and drawn one of their opening five league matches, and sit in second spot just two points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund.

The Bavarian giants will head into Saturday's game buoyed by their 3-0 success over CSKA Moscow in their Champions League Group D opener on Tuesday.

Goals from David Alaba and Mario Mandzukic gave Bayern a 2-0 half-time lead at the Allianz Arena, before Netherlands international Arjen Robben completed the comfortable victory in the second half.

And Robben believes the side are in a confident mood ahead of Saturday's showdown with Schalke.

"At the moment we're in good form and we have to keep that up," Robben told Bundesliga.com.

"We now have a chance to go on a run, improve and work on certain things.

"At the end of the day, the most important thing is to pick up points and win matches."

Thiago Alcantara and Mario Gotze (both ankle) will be unavailable for the fixture, while Javi Martinez remains sidelined after undergoing groin surgery earlier this month.

In contrast to Bayern, Schalke have made an indifferent start to their domestic campaign.

After drawing the first game of the season 3-3 with Hamburg, Jens Keller's side suffered consecutive away defeats to Wolfsburg and Hannover.

But they have bounced back strongly with back-to-back wins over Bayer Leverkusen and Mainz to move up to ninth.

Transfer-window signing Kevin-Prince Boateng could be key to any success they may have against Bayern.

The former AC Milan midfielder notched his maiden goal for the club in the 1-0 success away to Mainz, and Bayern will be wary of the threat he poses.

Schalke are likely to still be without striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar following his knee ligament tear sustained against Wolfsburg in August.

Bayern have dominated recent encounters with Schalke, having won the last five in a row, keeping a clean sheet in the previous four.
