Set up a poor wall for Sneijder's free-kick and didn't appear to be properly positioned when the kick was taken. On the positive side, made two strong saves to thwart Eto'o late on after earlier denying the Dutchman.
Played at left wing back and apart from from one shot which Ranocchia did superbly well to block, he had little effect on the game.
Was strong aerially and stuck to Pazzini like glue. Unfortunately for him, it was sometimes too close. Particularly in the 72nd minute when he earned a booking for a foul on his former team-mate - and was punished further when Sneijder slammed home the resultant free-kick.
The final man in the Samp back three was given a tough time by Kharja initially and then Eto'o after he moved out there later in the match.
Distinctively face-masked defender was impressive on the left of the back three, making numerous strong standing tackles and important blocks. Was beaten too easily by Eto'o for the second goal, but Sampdoria were ragged by then.
Sat in the centre of the midfield and attempted to dictate play. Was quiet, but did pick out Maccarone with a fantastic raking pass in the 62nd minute.
Buzzed about just off lone frontman Maccarone and was particularly lively in the first half. He set up a chance for Maccarone with a deft clipped pass and also intelligently laid off for Poli to hit the post.
A very energetic performance in which he was given a license to get forward as Palombo sat. Hit the post with a low strike and sent a header inches wide in a prominent first half performance.
A hard-working if unspectacular showing in the centre of midfield. Made on very impressive tackle to dispossess Kharja.
The right wing back spent most of the first half pinned back in his own half. Made some forays forward early in the second half, but was not nearly influential enough.
The bald-headed striker had two decent chances to score, but both final efforts were well saved by Julio Cesar. He otherwise struggled to escape Ranocchia's attentions.
Thwarted Maccarone with two impressive saves. One of which was particularly important as Maccarone looked set to score until he raced from his line.
Tidy on the ball and sound positionally, but the experienced Argentinian was unusually reserved and let Nagatomo do most of the work on the right.
Made a bright start when he popped up in the opposition box to prod a Sneijder cross inches over. Kept Maccarone under control and was a rock at the back.
The much maligned left-back returned to league duty after suspension and put in a reasonable shift. was tidy on the ball and put over a couple of teasing crosses in the early stages.
Nominally a left-back, the Japanese played on the right and showed that he is comfortable on either side. Bombed up and down the right-hand side, which caused Ziegler to defend more than attack.
A typically resolute showing from the big Brazilian. Was composed on the ball and fearless in the tackle, but unusually for him was involved in a little battle with Maccarone which earned him a booking and showed him in a bad light after refusing to shake hands with his opponent.
Battled with Palombo in the centre of midfield and made one outstanding pass to set up Eto'o's goal. But also had slack moments, for example when he let Poli drift past him far too easily before hitting the post.
Easily the Moroccan's best performance since signing for the Nerazzurri. Provided a willing outlet on the left and almost scored with a downwards header.
The star man scored the crucial opening goal with a fantastic free-kick and fired another against the base of the post. Made Inter attack and was their most threatening player all night.
Will be disappointed with his performance against his former side. Rarely threatened to score except from with one looping header which Curci caught with relative ease.
Scored with a fine finish to wrap up the points after having two earlier efforts well saved by Curci. Seemed to thrive after moving out to his familiar role on the left touchline, from where he cuts in before having a shot in on goal.

Came on in the 84th minute and forced a save from Julio Cesar, but was flagged offside.
Replaced Dessena in the 77th minute to make an appearance against the club he'd only recently left. One mazy run ended with a nice pass for Koman, who was unfortunately offside.
Young Manchester United loanee was given late run out but had little time to make an impact.

Came on for Kharja and his only real contribution was one weak effort which was straight at Curci and which provoked fury from Sneijder, who wanted a pass.
