Claudio Ranieri's men will look for a victory that will put them back into Scudetto contention...
Roma’s dismal start to the 2010-11 campaign saw many write off their chances of launching a genuine fight for the Scudetto. However, with the rest of the title challengers struggling to maintain consistency and Claudio Ranieri’s side getting back into form again, the Lupi are back in contention.
However, more work needs to be done and more points need to be mustered if Roma are to consolidate their Serie A hopes. At the moment the Giallorossi are sixth in the league standings with 19 points from 12 matches, six points behind leaders Milan and just one behind fourth-placed Juventus.
Roma’s 1-1 draw with Juventus in the league last weekend brought an end to their four-game winning run in the Italian top flight but extended their unbeaten run to six games in all competitions. A win against Udinese is hugely expected especially given that they have not lost at home in the league yet.

Udinese are expected to struggle for survival this season but the Bianconeri are currently stationed in eighth place in the table with 17 points from 12 matches. Interestingly, the Udine-based side are just a couple of points off a Europa League spot.
Last weekend an excellent Antonio Di Natale hat-trick inspired Francesco Guidolin’s side to a marvelous 4-0 victory over Lecce at the Stadio Friuli. It was Udinese’s fifth win of the league campaign, which is incidentally as many as Inter, Juventus, Roma and Palermo.
Nevertheless, the Zebrette must be aware that staving off the demon of relegation is their primary objective and to fulfill this aim they have to reach the 40-point mark as soon as they can. Udinese have a good record on the road too as they have won two of their six games away from home and will be confident of pushing Roma to the edge on Saturday.
De Rossi, Okaka, Taddei and Perrotta are unavailable because of injures. Menez will be the playmaker for the Lupi and will be deployed just behind Vucinic and Borriello in a 4-3-1-2 formation.
Zapata, Basta and Ferronetti are out of the match against Roma because of injuries while Pasquale is suspended. A 3-4-1-2 system will be used that will have Alexis Sanchez as the creator-in-chief from the midfield and Di Natale and Floro Flores as the two strikers.
