Made a critical stop with Lavezzi through on goal. Although solid at the back he punched instead of catching far too often, a first half Gargano free kick being the best example.
Was the rock at the back for Roma but was badly exposed when Hamsik raced past him, resulting in a penalty.
Had a difficult time on the right side as Dossena and Zuniga tested him all night. Booked for a blatant handball as well.
A decent showing as a makeshift centre-back. He was able to make a number of timely blocks, though he was lucky not to have an own goal to his name.
Got himself into some good positions but allowed the opposition past for the second goal, which killed the game. That said, he he did make a couple of excellent challenges on Maggio and Lavezzi in the first 45 minutes.
Taken off at half time after following a mediocre 45 minutes when he spent more time arguing with the opposition than actually taking them on.
Ultimately had to do much more defending than he would have liked and never managed to impose himself on the match.
A poor game from the midfielder. Couldn't cope with Gargano and Pazienza, who dominated him throughout.
D. De Rossi
Played a couple of Pirlo-style balls and was generally assured all evening. But he failed to track Hamsik on a number of occasions and let out an almighty fist pump when he thought Cavani's penalty may have been ruled out.
Barely had a touch of the ball as he was well marshalled by the impressive Cannavaro.
Lost possession a number of times and ran into blind alleys. Did have Roma's best chance, although that was well saved by De Sanctis.
M. De Sanctis
Excellent save from Vucinic and did well to hold onto the ball as well. Controlled his penalty area with ease.
No issues at the back and produced a moment of magic to assist the second goal as he swung in a great cross from the left wing. What he was doing there I don't think anyone will ever know.
Was given a couple of scares by Vucinic but was never in any real danger.
Bombed down the right side all evening and his duel with Riise was fascinating. Did put in a few good crosses but no one managed to get on the end of them.
Lucky not to be sent off for a very forthright challenge on Taddei. Had one shot that he fired wide, but made good headway on the left side against a nervous Rosi.
Marshalled Borriello well when he had to and also won his battle with Taddei.
Good free kick was well saved by Julio Sergio, supported the attack well, while also assisting Pazienza in the middle.
Won the penalty thanks to some direct running, though his shooting boots need a lot of work as a number of efforts were put well wide.
A terrier in the middle of the park: hassled and harried all evening. Never gave Perrotta and co. a moment's rest.
Smashed penalty off post and into the opposite side netting. There was confusion as the ball came back of the opposite post as well. But replays show the ball was over the line. Tapped in an easy second after stealing a march on Rosi.
Played some delightful balls and was full of tricks and flicks. His link-up play was excellent and was always likely to create chances. Did cause come tension in the first half after an alleged spitting incident with Cassetti.
