  • So, the Derby della Capitale once again never fails to disappoint. Two goals, a missed penalty and a red card. Lazio look to overturn their 2-0 first-leg deficit to Fenerbache in the Europa League on Thursday evening whilst Roma return to action next Sunday when they travel to face Torino. Thanks for joining me, Max Bentley, on what has been a wonderful derby evening in Serie A. Until next time, goodbye!
  • Vladimir Petkovic will be relieved to have escaped with a point but it could have been so different for the Biancocelesti had Hernanes converted that spotkick and doubled their lead. Lazio were good value for their lead in the first half but that missed penalty changed the game and provided a real lift for Roma.
  • FULL TIME: ROMA 1 - 1 LAZIO. A second-half fightback from the Giallorossi ensures the capital giants share the spoils at the Stadio Olimpico. Hernanes opened the scoring with a rasping strike in the first-half but turned from hero to villain in the second when he blasted a penalty wide before tripping Pjanic in the box. Totti duly converted from the spot and Aurelio Andreazzoli's side dominated the late stages after Giuseppe Biava was dismissed for a second bookable offence. However, Lazio managed to hold on and keep their three-point gap over Roma.
  • 90' + 4'
Lazio win a late corner which is cleared to the edge of the box and Lulic takes it past two defenders but cannot get his shot away in time and has the ball stolen off his toes by Marquinhos.
  • 90' + 3'
Torosidis has enjoyed a much-improved second half and his cross picks out Destro who can only find the gloves of Marchetti with his header.
  • 90' + 2'
    Yellow Card Leandro Castán
  • 90' + 2'
Candreva lofts the ball into the area but Stankevicius' flick-on cannot find a blue shirt. Time running out for either side to find a winner.
  • 90' + 2'
Leonardo Castan is the next player in Mazzoleni's notebook after an arm in the face of Candreva. Chance for Lazio to pump the ball into the box here.
  • 90'
    SubstitutionStefan Radu Marius Stankevicius
Stefan Radu is receiving attention for a knock and it seems he will no longer be able to continue. The Romanian defender is replaced by Marius Stankevicius.
  • 88'
He may be 36 but Totti is still pulling the strings for Roma in his 29th Derby della Capitale appearance. Can the captain inspire his side to a late winner? Two minutes remaining plus additional time.
  • 86'
GREAT SAVE FROM MARCHETTI! Pjanic lays a freekick off to Totti 20 yards out and the veteran midfielder sends a fizzing low drive through the wall which draws an excellent save from the Lazio shotstopper, who does well to hold onto the ball. Lazio clinging on.
  • 84'
Lazio have all ten players camped inside their own half in an attempt to see out the remaining minutes of this match. Lamela delivers an inviting cross into the box but Cana produces a fantastic header to prevent Destro nodding in from close range.
  • 82'
Candreva looks to snatch the points for Lazio when he steps up to strike a freekick from distance. However, the Italian does not catch the ball properly and Stekelenburg watches it bobble comfortably wide.
  • 81'
    Yellow Card Miralem Pjanic
  • 80'
MISS OF THE SEASON SURELY! Totti floats a delicious corner into the box which Marchetti completely misjudges, leaving Lamela to head in to an empty net from a yard out, but the Argentine somehow manages to put it over the bar. He missed when it was easier to score!
  • 79'
Aurelio Andreazzoli is urging his side to get forward and Cana gets across excellently to prevent Pjanic from turning Totti's pass in at the back post. The Giallorossi look the more likely to take the three points here.
  • 77'
Lazio launch a rare second-half attack and Stekelenburg is relieved to see Kozak's volley flash wide of the goal after the Dutch goalkeeper was left flapping. Warning signs for Roma.
  • 76'
Roma are furious when Lamela goes down under the challenge of Radu in the box but Mazzoleni waves play on. The Argentine certainly seem to be tripped. Lazio have got away with that one as Radu would most certainly have received a second yellow card.
  • 74'
    SubstitutionAlessandro Florenzi Dodô
Aurelio Andreazzoli opts to make a change with Dodo replacing Alessandro Florenzi. It seems Marquinho will now push forward into the midfield.
  • 72'
Pjanic strikes the freekick from distance but it takes a nick off the wall and deflects behind for a corner. From the resulting set-piece, Totti drills it in low and the ball somehow evades both Marquinhos and Destro who only needed to provide the faintest touch to score.
  • 69'
    SubstitutionCristian Ledesma Michael Ciani
Cristian Ledesma is the man sacrificed with Michael Ciani coming on in the heart of defence.
  • 69'
    Yellow/Red Giuseppe Biava
RED CARD FOR BIAVA! Lazio are reduced to ten men when the Lazio centre-back sends Marquinho tumbling for the second time in six short minutes. That's now EIGHT red cards in the last five derbies. Advantage Roma!
  • 67'
Antonio Candreva does fantastically to bulldoze past Marquinho down the right but he just cannot pick out Pjanic at the back post and Roma breathe a sigh of relief.
  • 65'
GREAT DOUBLE SAVE FROM MARCHETTI! The Lazio goalkeeper keeps the scores level, first parrying Totti's venomous freekick before producing lighting-quick reactions to thwart Florenzi's rebound. Superb goalkeeping.
  • 63'
    Yellow Card Giuseppe Biava
Giuseppe Biava is the next player in the book after he halts the run of Marquinho illegally. The card count starting to rack up now after Lamela and Cana were cautioned in the aftermath of Totti's equaliser.
  • 60'
    SubstitutionMiroslav Klose Libor Kozák
CHANCE FOR LAZIO! Lorik Cana does brilliantly to nod Ledesma's cross back to the edge of the box and Lulic fires a left-footed effort inches wide of the post.
  • 60'
First change from the Biancocelesti as Libor Kozak replaces Miroslav Klose. The German has only just returned from injury and Petkovic knows he cannot afford to risk his talisman getting injured for the rest of the season.
  • 58'
    Yellow Card Lorik Cana
  • 58'
The pendulum seems to swing in Roma's favour as Pjanic plays in Lamela on the left side of the box, but the Argentine dallies on the ball and cannot get his shot away.
  • 57'
    Yellow Card Erik Lamela
  • 57'
    Penalty Goal Francesco Totti
ROMA ARE LEVEL! Totti scores his ninth league goal in Derby della Capitale history, drawing him level in the history books with Marco Delvecchio and Dino da Costa. What a cool penalty it was as well, firing it low into the bottom left corner and past the outstretched fingertips of Marchetti. Hernanes goes from hero to villain!
  • 56'
PENALTY FOR ROMA! A terrible five minutes for Hernanes is summed up when he upends Pjanic in the box. Totti to take it...
  • 54'
Miroslav Klose has not seen too many sights of goal so far but he goes close here as his header narrowly goes over the crossbar.
  • 53'
    SubstitutionDaniele De Rossi Mattia Destro
Daniele De Rossi seems to have picked up a knock and he is replaced by Mattia Destro, who last scored on December 2 against Siena.
  • 52'
    Yellow Card Senad Lulic
Senad Lulic goes in late on Torosidis and picks up a yellow card which also rules him out of the game against Juventus.
  • 50'
That penalty miss has really spurred on the home support who are urging their team to get forward.
  • 49'
    Missed Penalty Hernanes
HERNANES MISSES FROM THE SPOT! The Brazilian steps up casually but curls his effort well wide of the top right-hand corner. Terrible penalty.
  • 48'
PENALTY FOR LAZIO! Senad Lulic surges down the left and his cross takes a nick off Torosidis before bouncing off the turf and striking the arm of Marquinhos who surely had time to get out of the way. Mazzoleni points to the spot. What a chance for Lazio to double their lead!
  • 46'
Lazio get the second half underway. Can Roma produce an impressive display to overturn Lazio's deficit and reignite their Champions League aspirations? Let's find out...
  • If the scoreline stays the same in the second half, Lazio will move into fourth place ahead of Fiorentina and Inter, leaving Roma languishing in seventh with fading hopes for Champions League football next season. Can the Giallorossi turn their fortunes around? Let me know your thoughts and predictions on the match via Twitter @MaxBentley1.
  • HALF TIME: ROMA 0 - 1 LAZIO. Hernanes' screamer is the difference between the sides at the interval. Roma have enjoyed plenty of possession but have struggled to break down a resilient Lazio defence, forcing Federico Marchetti into a solitary save at the end of the half. Vladimir Petkovic will be pleased with his team's performance and the Biancocelesti look dangerous whenever they come forward. Big half-time teamtalk for Andreazzoli.
  • 45' + 2'
GOOD SAVE FROM MARCHETTI! The Lazio shotstopper is finally called into action on the stroke of half-time, diving well to his left to punch clear Totti's stinging drive.
  • 45'
Lazio are content to sit back and soak up the pressure here, hoping to attack on the break. All going to plan for Petkovic so far.
  • 43'
    Yellow Card Daniele De Rossi
Daniele De Rossi is the next man into the referee's notebook after a robust challenge on Klose. He can have no complaints about that one.
  • 42'
Lazio have hardly ventured into the Roma half in the last ten minutes but they have not really looked like conceding. Andreazzoli must be pondering changes at the break.
  • 41'
Roma are trying to up the tempo before half-time but Biava and Cana continue to stand firm and head clear the crosses into the box. Pjanic opts to try his luck from distance but drags his shot well wide of the left post.
  • 41'
Roma are trying to up the tempo before half-time but Biava and Cana continue to stand firm and head clear the crosses into the box. Pjanic opts to try his luck from distance but drags his shot well wide of the left post.
  • 39'
Totti whips a low corner towards the front post but Castan cannot flick the ball on and watches it ricochet unfortunately off his arm for handball.
  • 38'
There is a stoppage in play as Onazi is writhing in pain after Castan catches the Nigerian midfielder with a nasty follow-through. He should be ok to continue though. Roma waiting to take a corner.
  • 36'
Erik Lamela finds space to swivel on the edge of the box, but his powerful drive is well blocked by Ledesma. This is a good spell for Andreazzoli's men.
  • 34'
If Lazio win this evening, it will be their fourth consecutive Derby della Capitale victory - the joint-highest streak from either side. They are on course so far with just over ten minutes remaining until half-time.
  • 32'
Much better from Roma as Pjanic picks out Florenzi with a cross from the right, but the Italian youngster's volley blazes high over the crossbar.
  • 31'
    Yellow Card Stefan Radu
Stefan Radu picks up the first caution of the game for a mistimed tackle on Torosidis. The Romanian will now miss next week's clash against Juventus.
  • 30'
Half an hour played here and the Giallorossi are yet to seriously test Marchetti in the Lazio goal. They are certainly feeling the absence of Osvaldo so far.
  • 28'
Antonio Candreva scored a wonderful freekick in the Derby della Capitale in November and he looks to replicate that effort here, but his swerving effort does not have enough dip on it and Stekelenburg watches the ball clear the crossbar.
  • 26'
After Cana fouls Totti 30 yards from goal, the Giallorrossi skipper whips a dangerous freekick into the box but Klose rises highest to head the ball clear. Vasilis Torosidis looks to put his shaky start behind him with a piledriver from distance but the ball soars high over the crossbar.
  • 24'
Paolo Mazzoleni is refusing to get the cards out at the moment as Onazi and Florenzi both go in with a committed challenge. I don't think it will be long until we see our first caution of the game.
  • 22'
Lazio continue in their search for a second when Candreva's corner is met by Cana, but the Albanian does not catch the ball properly and Stekelenburg claims.
  • 20'
Lazio are well on top here and Lulic forces a wonderful stop from Stekelenburg down low to his left post after Hernanes' cute slide pass.
  • 18'
Huge shouts for an appeal when the corner appears to strike the arm of Marquinhos in the box but Mazzoleni waves play on. Roma look shellshocked here.
  • 17'
NEARLY A SECOND FOR HERNANES! Lazio look to inflict further damage on the hosts when Radu finds Hernanes in the box and the Brazilian drifts past Marquinhos with ease before his effort is deflected wide for a corner. Torosidis is all over the place at right-back.
  • 16'
    Assist Senad Lulic
  • 16'
    Goal Hernanes
GOOOALLL LAZZIOOO! WHAT A STRIKE FROM HERNANES! Lulic does fantastically to spring down the left and pick out the Brazilian 25 yards out and Hernanes does the rest, shifting inside Castan and pinging an unstoppable left-footed drive into the top corner. The Lazio fans go wild!
  • 15'
Roma attack straight down the other end, with Lamela taking advantage of a slip from Cana. The Argentine jinks past Biava but his pullback is crucially intercepted by Gonzalez with Totti ready to pull the trigger.
  • 15'
This is Lazio's best spell of the game so far and Lulic is unfortunate to see his deft cross just evade the outstretched boot of Klose on the back post.
  • 14'
GOOD SAVE FROM STEKELENBURG! Lazio launch a counterattack with Klose playing the ball out wide for Candreva, and the Italian international forces the Roma shotstopper into a fine stop from his dipping, powerful drive.
  • 12'
Big battle in the heart of midfield this evening as Ogenyi Onazi, making his derby debut, comes up against Daniele de Rossi, in his 20th derby appearance. Roma slightly on top at the moment.
  • 10'
Huge squeal on the touchline as Lamela goes down under a strong challenge from Hernanes. Mazzoleni refuses to get his cards out on this occasion though and gives the Brazilian a ticking off.
  • 9'
NEARLY SUBLIME FROM TOTTI! The 36-year-old collects Florenzi's pass on the edge of the box and attempts to slip a wonderfully-disguised reverse pass into the path of Pjanic, but Marchetti is off his line quickly to smother the ball.
  • 8'
Antonio Candreva looks to find the height of Klose in the box, but his left-footed cross does not quite find its target and Stekelenburg claims.
  • 7'
Both sides attacking positively in the early stages, looking to exploit the respective makeshift defences. I think we can certainly be expecting some goals this evening.
  • 5'
A goal for Totti tonight will make him the joint-highest Roma goalscorer vs. Lazio in league derby history joining Marco Delvecchio & Dina da Costa on nine goals. Can the Golden Boy of Rome provide the goods this evening?
  • 4'
Lazio have their first attack when Hernanes pumps a long ball into the Roma box which is half-cleared to the penalty area, where Onazi blazes an effort high over the crossbar.
  • 3'
Incidentally, Lamela opened the scoring when these two sides last met in November - a match which also saw Daniele De Rossi and Stefano Mauri sent off.
  • 2'
GOOD START FROM ROMA! Marquinho bursts down the left and cuts the ball back for Totti whose shot is well blocked by Ledesma. The Giallorossi captain picks up the rebound and lofts the ball to the back post where Lamela meets the ball with a header, forcing Marchetti into an early stop.
  • 1'
Roma get the derby underway! A huge banner of Totti is being displayed by the home fans. Can their captain guide them to a crucial victory this evening?
  • Paolo Mazzoleni is the man in charge of tonight's contest, his first Derby della Capitale. There have been 14 red cards in the last nine matches between these two sides. Prepare for another explosive encounter this evening! Kickoff awaits...
  • Fantastic, electrifying atmosphere in the Stadio Olimpico as captains Francesco Totti and Cristian Ledesma lead the teams onto the field. Plenty of flags and flares on show this evening.
  • Roma have lost just one of their last eleven home matches whilst Lazio have won only four of their 14 away games. Who will secure the three points tonight? Remember you can let me know your thoughts and predictions via Twitter @MaxBentley1.
  • Vladimir Petkovic makes three changes to the side which lost 2-0 to Fenerbache in the Europa League on Thursday night. Michael Ciani, Ederson and Libor Kozak are replaced by Giuseppe Biava, Cristian Ledesma and talisman Miroslav Klose.
  • Aurelio Andreazzoli makes several changes to the side which lost 2-0 to Palermo last time out. Daniel Pablo Osvaldo and Ivan Piris are suspended, whilst Panagiotis Tachtsidis, Nicolas Burdisso and Simone Perrotta drop out of the starting eleven. Vasilis Torosidis and Marquinhos are recalled into defence, with Michael Bradley and Miralem Pjanic also returning.
  • Lazio XI v Roma (4-1-4-1): Marchetti; Gonzalez, Biava, Cana, Radu; Ledesma; Candreva, Onazi, Hernanes, Lulic; Klose.
  • ROMA (4-3-1-2): Stekelenburg; Torosidis, Marquinhos, Castan, Marquinho; Bradley, De Rossi, Florenzi; Pjanic; Lamela, Totti.
  • Here are this evening's lineups...
  • However, Vladimir Petkovic's side have enjoyed the bragging rights in recent memory and have won the last three derbies, with Stefano Mauri grabbing the winner in the last two instances. In the reverse fixture back in November, the Biancocelesti emerged 3-2 victors.
  • Incidentally, although both teams play their fixtures at the Stadio Olimpico, it is Roma who are the home side this evening and historically the Giallorossi have the upper hand with 63 victories in the 170 matches between the sides. Lazio have won 47 contests whilst 60 have ended in draws.
  • One of Europe's most fiercely-contested derbies takes place this evening as Roma and Lazio go head-to-head in the Derby della Capitale. With only three points separating the sides in sixth and seventh position, this clash has even more at stake with both giants looking to sneak into the UEFA Champions League places. Who will come out on top this evening and claim the city's bragging rights? Bringing you all the action from the Stadio Olimpico, my name is Max Bentley. Feel free to let me know your thoughts and predictions on the match via Twitter @MaxBentley1.
