Shouldn’t have come out as he did when clashing with Juan on the early Stankovic goal which was ruled out. Made a good save from Pazzini late on when left stranded by his defence.
Regularly got in the way of efforts and even found the time to start a couple of breaks as the Giallorossi were kept on their toes throughout.
Got far too stretched by Milito and Pandev at times. His ability to get in the way of any and every shot proved valuable, though.
Had a couple of barnstorming efforts at goal as usual, but often found himself out of position as the narrow Stankovic dragged him away from the flanks for Maicon to exploit.
Did very well getting down the right flank all night and could have had a couple of assists to his name but for the work of Lucio and the wastefulness of Perrotta.
Got forward really well down the right but his crossing was hit and miss. He was also guilty of a couple of rash shots when he had other options.
Did his best to get into good positions bursting beyond Borriello, but the ball just didn’t seem to fall his way and when it did he seemed to misread the cross.
D. De Rossi
The skipper for the night may count himself fortunate for the two calls that went his way when handling in the box. Otherwise, he stood tall as always and worked extra hard off the ball.
Put in an excellent shift in the middle and found time to burst forward on occasion, shocking Nagatomo with his pace on one break.
Worked his way into some nice positions, particularly when teeing up Vucinic, but he had no goal threat whatsoever on a night when Roma needed someone more clinical up top.
An abysmal performance from a man from whom we’ve come to expect so much more. His sitter in the first 10 minutes set the tone as he went on to misplace passes, blaze over shots and find himself dispossessed when waiting for the ball.
Didn’t have an awful lot to do as Roma sent in only a few shots of real note and was reduced to the odd convincing punch out.
His stretch to get in front of Perrotta from Cassetti’s cross was nothing short of expert. Led the line well as his back four got good protection from the midfield three.
Beaten too easily by Borriello as he set up Vucinic for a sitter he should have buried, and although he improved thereafter he’s still short of the Maicon of early 2010.
A decent enough defensive display by the skipper, though he could easily have gone in the book for bringing down De Rossi.
A good job for the most part, covering well as a sweeper when his side became stretched. But his booking was symptomatic of his play in that he always looked a little short when Roma really attacked him.
Excellent going forward, sending in some dangerous crosses, but looked short of what is needed when attacked by Taddei, Cassetti and Pizarro at the back. It was notable that most of Roma’s good chances came down his flank.
Scored inside two minutes but had the goal struck out for a push. His second effort was spectacular though, as he fired home a great shot across Doni for the winner on the stroke of half-time.
Played a great left-foot pass forward for Stankovic early on for the strike that was ruled out, but thereafter seemed a little short of the pace needed as Roma worked their way into some nice positions passing around the Inter midfield. Covered well, though.
Always a danger on the break even if he was nowhere near his best. Looked particularly good in the moments immediately after the introduction of Pazzini.
Still failing to rekindle his form of last season, he drifted out of the game for far too long and wasted one particularly good chance Inter had to break in the second half.
Just not the same player he was last year, and, while he stretched the home defence, he never looked likely to grab a vital second for Inter.
- B. Lobonț
A late replacement for Cassetti, who had taken one knock too many.
- P. Castellini
- S. Loria
A late entrant, he got into a good position to receive a pass from Vucinic but when he returned the ball to the Montenegrin Inter managed to clear.
- M. Brighi
Brought on midway through the second half but had only the slightest involvement in the game. His exit from the club must be edging nearer.
- L. Castellazzi
- C. Chivu
- M. Materazzi
Brought on in injury time.
- H. Kharja
Given a little over 10 minutes and pushed the ball around well.
Could have finished the game off but saw his one-on-one effort saved by Doni. His movement was excellent, though, and he made plenty of space as Inter looked to break for a second goal.
