Full time in Zaragoza. Real Madrid impressive and Real Zaragoza woeful as the capital club win 6-0 including a hat trick for Ronaldo. Thank you for joining us on Goal.com!
Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 14 goals in his last 5 La Liga games. Not bad is it?
Hat trick for Cristiano Ronaldo! Coentrao picks out Kaka on the right who fires a shot across the box and the Portuguese is there at the far post to easily tap in for his third goal. First game of the season and a hat trick for the Madrid talisman.
The Zaragoza players look well and truly fatigued now. They have been thumped by Real Madrid here.
Ohhhh what a goal from Kaka! 5-0 Madrid! The Brazilian running into the box and dropping the shoulder inside before rifling a scorcher into the top corner. Brilliant goal.
Good pace from Higuain to steamroll forward past Ponzio but the Argentinian attempts a difficult chip over Roberto when Ronaldo was waiting for a tap in for his hat trick.
Wonderful flowing move from Madrid as Marcelo and Coentrao link up to send a pass through to Callejon, who just took too long and allowed Abraham to make the block on his shot. Kaka has replaced Mesut Ozil in the Madrid midfield.
Real Madrid flex their squad strength as Gonzalo Higuain replaces Benzema.
Uche's first touch lets him down as he had the opportunity to go through on goal but the Madrid defenders are allowed to intercept.
Good play from Lafita to drive towards the Madrid defence and unleash a shot that is deflected out for a corner kick. However the ball is cleared and Madrid are on the counter attack!
AssistÁngel Di María
Ángel Di María
First Real Madrid change of the evening as Callejon replaces Di Maria.
Yellow CardRicardo Carvalho
GOAL FOR REAL MADRID! Cristiano Ronaldo grabs his second of the evening as Di Maria squares the ball across the six yard box for the Portuguese to tap in.
Brilliant bursting run from Ricardo Carvalho to take the slight pressure of his defence and take the ball to the opposition corner flag.
The home side must decide on their tactics for the remainder of the match, they may try and look at damage limitation instead of trying to find a goal. However, Madrid look very hungry and in the mood to play this evening.
3-0 to Madrid! Xabi Alonso latches on to a loose clearance on the edge of the box and sweetly strikes the ball into the bottom right corner. Game over you would feel.
Zaragoza's play is getting very slack as we approach the last 30 minutes of the match. Uche up front is struggling to keep hold of the many long balls he is receiving.
Another opportunity falls at the feet of Da Silva in the Real Madrid box but the Paraguayan scoops the ball over the bar on the volley.
Marcelo looks for his second goal by latching onto a loose ball in the Zaragoza box and smashing the ball on the half volley but it is bravely blocked by Fernando Meira!
Karim Benzema misses through on goal! Roberto stays big to deny the Frenchman!
Almost an immediate impact from Pinter as the substitute attempts a long range shot that goes just by Casillas' right hand post.
What a miss from Angel Di Maria! Following up on a saved Ronaldo shot the Argentinian passes wide from 6 yards!
Zaragoza are camped on their 18 yard line at the moment, Madrid are probing.
Madrid have resumed their passing game around the park, but the Zaragoza players have started the second half with more intensity and are closing the ball down better.
The second half is underway in Spain, If Zaragoza can grab an early goal, this may turn into a very interesting match.
Half time in Zaragoza, Real Madrid are in cruise control and go in with a healthy 2-0 lead over Real Zaragoza. Can the hosts come out of the blocks quickly in the second half and get an early goal to give themselves hope? Or will Real Madrid grab some more goals? Join us in 15 minutes for the second half to find out!
Da Silva arrives at the back post for Zaragoza from a free kick and misses his header to the right of the post! Lucky for the defender the foul was given for pushing on Ricardo Carvalho.
Ronaldo has another free kick attempt at the Zaragoza goal and Roberto saves again, the ball falls at the feet of Benzema who squanders the opportunity to send Madrid 3-0 up.
Good tracking back from Barrera to intercept a pass to Di Maria that would have had the Argentinian with a free shot at the Zaragoza goal.
Best move of the game from Zaragoza with Zucelini exchanging passes with Lafita and sending a lovely pass down the right of the box for Uche but the striker's attempt goes straight into the arms of Iker Casillas.
Good pressure from Zaragoza at the moment, they are playing the ball well about midfield and are moving further up the park.
To be fair to the home side they have responded well and seem to be allowing more men forward to try and grab a goal. However, this may play into Madrid's hands as they are devastating in counter attack.
Madrid are now in cruise control, unless Zaragoza get a goal before half time, this scoreline may be as big the visitors want it to be.
GOOOOOOOOOOAL FOR REAL MADRID!!! Jose Mourinho's men double their lead as Sergio Ramos gets to the by line and dinks a cross to the penalty spot for Marcelo to bring down and place a shot in the right corner.
The ball cannons off a Zaragoza head and out for a corner kick. Real Madrid take it quickly and resume their passing game.
Abraham goes into the book this time after scything down Angel Di Maria. Another free kick opportunity for Ronaldo.
GOOOOOOOOOOOAL FOR REAL MADRID! Ronaldo scores with a simple finish after Mesut Ozil had split the Zaragoza defence with a wonderful pass! Lovely flowing move from the visitors!
Good concentration from Roberto to gather the free kick attempt as it bounces up awkwardly on the six yard line.
Yellow CardFernando Meira
First caution of the match as Fernando Meira brings down Ronaldo. Good position for a free kick for the Portuguese!
Great defending from Efrain Juarez to put himself inbetween Marcelo and his goal after the Brazilian had ran in behind the Zaragoza defence.
Slack from Xabi Alonso as the Spaniard gives the ball away in midfield to Barrera who drives forward towards Carvalho but Madrid manage to stifle any attack and clear.
Very close for Benzema! The Frenchman receiving a pass from Ozil and striking at the near post with his left foot but Roberto managed to turn the ball away!
Excellent turn on the half way line from Mesut Ozil to drive forward and send Benzema through on goal but Roberto was on his toes and managed to dash from his goal to clear for Zaragoza.
Wasted opportunity for Zaragoza as a free kick from the left side is terribly underhit by Lafita and Real Madrid easily clear.
The away side should be 1-0 up! Mesut Ozil going through on goal for Madrid but a tame shot was saved by new Zaragoza signing Roberto.
First shot on goal of the game for Zaragoza as Uche has a crack from just outside the box but the ball is deflected and out for a corner kick.
Madrid are enjoying the possession in midfield but a couple of opportunities for a defence splitting pass have been wasted by Marcelo.
Cristiano Ronaldo shows some trickery down the left hand side and whips in a wonderful cross along the six yard box but no takers for Real Madrid!
Di Maria goes down on an off the ball incident, he may have just been clipped by Abraham.
Real Madrid make a bright start to the match and are dictating the play in the early stages. Zaragoza have camped out in their own half and are inviting pressure at the moment.
The match has kicked off to a vibrant atmosphere inside La Romareda, hopefully we are in store for an entertaining match!
This is the starting XI of Real Madrid: Casillas; Ramos, Pepe, Carvalho, Marcelo; Coentrao, Xabi Alonso, Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo; Benzema.
The teams are now in and this is how Real Zaragoza will be lining up tonight: Roberto; Juarez, Da Silva, Meira, Parades, Abraham; Barrera, Ponzio, Zuculini; Lafita, Uche.
Real Madrid won this fixture last season with a 3-1 away victory but Zaragoza returned the favour with a shock 3-2 victory at Santiago Bernabeu.
