AND IT IS OVER! Real Madrid showed impressive determination today after receiving a silly goal after Di Maria broke the deadlock. With Mourinho fuming, kicking the bench and throwing bottles near the touchline, Los Blancos turned on the style and scored a goal through a Ronaldo free-kick, which although lucky, was fully deserved for Los Merengues, who were arguably the better team in the second half. Real Sociedad, for their part, played out an impressive game and performances like this certainly give much hope to the fans of the Basque outfit that their team will manage to avoid relegation come the end of the season. Stay with us for our post-match materials on this an many other games. Good night from me, Vasil Kotsev! Bye!

BENZEMA! The striker received the ball outside the penalty box on the left, cut in, but was denied by a brilliant save from Bravo, who managed to stop his right corner-bound low shot.
90' + 1'
There will be four minutes of injury time.
MARCELO! WHAT A RUN! The striker powered through three Real Sociedad players with his pace, starting on the left, just outside the penalty area, managed to tip-toe the ball ahead of Bravo and tried to score a Maicon trademark goal, but his finish dropped on the goal line, before leaving the goal area, thus effectively ending the attack from Los Blancos.
HIGUAIN! WHAT A MISS! Ronaldo sent the striker through on goal with a clever flick, Higuain cleverly neutralised Gonzalez with a marvellous backheel, but the striker was denied by Bravo. Martinez cleared the ball from a Ronaldo shot after the blocking of the ball.
Yellow CardMikel González Martínez
DE LA BELLA! THE WING-BACK ALMOST SCORES A FLUKE GOAL! Prieto released the marauding ex-Villareal left defender near the corner flag with a backheel and the ball took a wicked trajectory and almost caught Casillas napping as the goalkeeper stretched to the fullest extent to clear the ball!
Granero, a really gifted player indeed, has rarely featured under Jose Mourinho now that he has to compete with Oezil among others.
Mikel Aranburu Eizagirre
Granero enters the pitch for Di Maria. The Argentiian probably scored the goal of the round tonight with a precise finish in the right upper corner from inside the penalty area.
Ángel Di María
DIARRA! The tenacious midfielder received the ball in midfield, raced to near the penalty area and shot at goal, the ball deflected off Ansotequi, but Bravo managed to claim the ball.
Tamudo leaves the field for Agirretxe, while Oezil, who disappointed tonight, makes place for Lassana Diarra.
GOAL! RONALDO SCORES FROM A FREE-KICK! The Portuguese tried to power a strong shot at goal, but the ball took deflection from a Real Sociedad player in the wall, and the ball looped in the upper right corner, leaving Bravo with no chance.
Real Madrid win a free-kick on the left, 30 yards from goal after Cristiano Ronaldo was brought down by Aranburu.
Just saw a replay of the goal and now it seems to me that the goal was valid, just a Carvalho mistake after all.
RONALDO! Magical run from the Portuguese! The winger ran down the left and went by three challenges with his pace before whipping a low cross in the goal area, which was missed by both sets of players, but was finally cleared for a corner by de la Bella. The following set piece resulted in nothing.
Another free-kick for the hosts, Griezmann takes it again .... SO CLOSE! The winger decided to shoot this time instead but his powerful shot flew wide of the far post!
Real Madrid can certainly feel aggrieved about this goal as it seemed that Tamudo was in an offside position. Carvalho stood there motionless thinking that the referee will raise his flag. To sum up, a controversial goal.
Di Maria brings down substitute Gutierrez on the right. TAMUDO SCORES! Griezmann took the free kick and crossed for the completely unmarked Tamudo in the goal area and the Espanyol striker made no mistake from close range and finished with a deft touch.
Cristiano Ronaldo has cut in a frustrated figure so far and being triple marked certainly does not ease up his situation. This time he had his shirt pulled by Gutierrez. Probably affected, the Portuguese ace rushes his free-kick from 30 yards in front of goal and hits the wall and the chance goes begging.
KHEDIRA! Di Maria found the ex-Stuttgart man just outside the penalty area and the German international fired a piledriver, which flew over the bar.
Jose Mourinho must have really yelled at his players for the entire break as they seem to play with fire in their bellies.
We might be seeing this goal for some time. It was truly a remarkable strike that one should not miss seeing.
GOAL! REAL MADRID TAKE THE LEAD! DI MARIA SCORES A WONDER GOAL! The winger received the ball on the left, just outside the penalty area drew three defenders, namely Martinez, Ansotegui and Gonzales and managed to cut in the penalty area and unleashe a precise finished that nested beautifully in the upper right corner. Game on!
GoalÁngel Di María
Yellow CardSergio Ramos
TAMUDO! Los Blancos defence is in complete disarray as three players missed a cross from Gonzales near the goal area, but Pepe managed to clear the ball in the end from near the penalty spot.
HIGUAIN! Marcelo crossed from the left, near the corner flag for Higuain, but Ansotequi was first to the ball and headed clear. The resulting corner kick amounted to nothing.
The second half begins!
45' + 2'
The referee blows his whistle for half-time. Surprisingly it is Real Sociedad who have dominated the game so far and they have certainly impressed against their somewhat lenient opponents. There is no sparkle in Real Madrid's attack tonight as neither Oezil, nor Ronaldo have made any noticable contribution. Join us after the break for the second half of this exciting game.
45' + 1'
There will be a minute of injury time.
HIGUAIN! Offside! Marcelo tried to pick out Higuain with a delightful 30 yard pass from the left wing, but the striker is stopped as the referee waves his flag for an offside.
PRIETO! The winger was picked out by Aranbu on the left side of the box, attempted to step-over against Marcelo and then shot, but his shot was really high and the ball went out for a goal kick.
RONALDO! The Portugues combined on the right side of the penalty are, 35 yards from goal and sent a low and meek shot, which Bravo easily collected at the near post.
Pepe seems to be flying off the handle as he recklessly charges into every tackle, he has been already booked, my bet is he is sent off if Sociedad continue to press Los Merengues.
GRIEZMANN! The winger cut in the penalty area from the left and tried to skin Pepe near the byline, but the aggressive defender managed to clear the ball for a corner kick with a last-ditch tackle.
Real Sociedad have come good in this game and now seem on the front foot. Will this cost the home side, seeing how Mourinho is the king of counter-attack tactics?
GRIEZMANN! The winger retrieved the ball on the left, just outside the penalty area and let it fly after taking a few steps, but his low drive narrowly misses by the far post.
TAMUDO! Prieto stole a ball on the left side of the penalty box and put in a low cross for Tamudo in the goal area, but the striker did not manage to reach the ball and it went out for a corner kick, which resulted to nothing.
Sociedad will probably rely on such fast-paced counter attack to hit a somewhat lenient Los Blancos defence on the break.
WHAT A MISS! SOCIEDAD COULD AND SHOULD HAVE SCORED! Aranburu knocked a ball from deep his team's half for Tamudo just outside the penalty area, the striker controlled it and sent Griezmann through on goal, but the winger's low finish in the right corner misses by inches. First real chance of the game so far.
The game resumes and Griezmann takes the corner kick, he combines with Gutierrez and after receiving the ball crosses in the box, but Pepe is there to clear the danger.
Carvalho concedes a corner on the right, meanwhile Khedira is struggling on the ground with an injury.
The game has been a scrappy affair as both teams struggle to create anything of note and most attacks start and end in midfield.
Real Sociedad returned to La Liga this year after a lengthy stay in Segunda and are tipped for great success this season. We will find out if these claims have any ground whatsoever in the games to come.
Real Sociedad: Bravo; Gonzales, Ansotegui, de la Bella, Martinez; Aranburu, Gutierrez, Zurutuza, Griezmann, Prieto; Tamudo.
Line-ups: Real Madrid: Casillas; Carvalho, Pepe, Marcelo, Ramos; Alonso, Khedira, Oezil, Ronaldo, Di Maria; Higuain.
Real Madrid seem really fired up for this game as they launch attack after attack, will there be an early goal at Estadio Anoeta?
Free-kick for Real Madrid. 35 yards in front of goal, Ronaldo takes it, but his his low shot fizzles wide of the left post.
TAMUDO! Prieto ran down the right wing and put in a delightful 35 yard cross for Tamudo near the penalty spot, but the ex-Espanyol striker's header flew over the bar.
HIGUAIN! Ronaldo ran through the centre and played a good through-ball for Higuain from inside the penalty area semi-circle, but the striker could not reach the ball before the goalkeeper.
DI MARIA! The winger combined with Oezil on the right, just outside the penalty area and the Argentinian let it fry from around 25 yards, but Bravo was well positioned and blocked the ball.
And they are off!
