Could not have done anything to prevent the Betis goal and was reliable when called upon. Also showed a cool head in possession at the back when the visitors were intense in their pressing of the ball.
Fairly comfortable performance from the centre back. Took it upon himself to drive Madrid forward at times when the team was a tad lacklustre. Good performance all round.
Reliable as always at the back but offered a lot going forward this evening. Took a page out of Marcelo's book by driving down the wing and being an extra man in attack.
Only negative was a slight miscommunication with Sergio Ramos at times when deciding who was going to deal with Molina in attack. Dominant in the air and solid in the tackle.
Was more of a passer of the ball than a dribbler this evening, and showed he has impressive distribution. Picked out Ronaldo with lobs over the defence on more than one occasion, including for the opening goal, and was more intelligent in possession than usual.
A quiet match by the standards of the Brazilian until he showcased his immense quality with a truly fantastic strike from the edge of the box. Curled the ball into the net wonderfully and gave Madrid an important second goal - but was hooked immediately afterwards.
Did not do his job as well as usual this evening. The Frenchman spent most of his match chasing Betis' attackers and his tackling was slightly off at times.
Passing was excellent as always but also took part of the gritty side of the game. Made a few well-timed tackles when Betis were on the counter attack and cleaned up well in front of his defence.
Was ineffective when playing from the right hand side but grew more into the game as he was switched to the centre. Showed neat touches as always but did not show his array of killer passes in this particular match.
A trully classy performance from the Argentine. A hat-trick in the match and each goal taken expertly and in deadly fashion. Also looked very sharp in his runs and was a constant threat to the Betis defence.
Showed electric pace and dribbling power down the left hand side throughout the match but his final ball let him down on more than one occasion. Did manage to provide assists for Higuain and Kaka, but should have scored in the first half with a glancing header that went past the post.
An eventful match from the Betis goalkeeper. Terrible indecision led to Real Madrid's first goal but pulled off a few excellent saves, most notably a double stop from Higuain and Kaka.
Held his own in the air against Higuain and Ronaldo and made a few important interceptions at the edge of the box. Made one excellent point blank block from Kaka as the Brazilian struck from six yards out.
Positioned himself well against Ronaldo as the Portuguese stretched his legs down the left hand side but could not find enough room for decent service into the box. Fairly disciplined at the back.
Gave Ozil and eventually Kaka too much room down the left and was eventually over-ran in the second half. Also got caught up the park more than once which allowed Madrid to take advantage of the space vacated.
Was given the run around by Higuain at times and could not deal with the movement of the Madrid front line. Some indecision in who to mark left Madrid players with more room that they should be allowed.
Did not get on the ball as much as he would have liked and was largely a passenger for his side. Gave Madrid the ball back needlessly on more than one occasion.
Came off injured early in the game after a collision with Sergio Ramos.
Attempted to be the driving force in midfield and got in to some neat positions between the Real Madrid defence and attack, however was mostly isolated and well marshalled by Diarra and Xabi Alonso.
Did well to press Madrid in the first half and was solid in midfield, however the match eventually caught up with him and he was substituted.
Took his goal like a true opportunist in the box and was bright for the visitors. Made some decent runs and was a thorn in the side of the Madrid defenders.
Missed a great opportunity in the first half when he blazed over from 10 yards. Still managed to be Betis' best player in the match and his performance was summed up by his closing down of the Madrid players which lead to the Betis goal.
- 13 Adán
- 19 R. Varane
Came on for Ozil as Madrid tightened things up.
Á. di María
Was unlucky with a curled shot from the right hand side and set up Higuain's hat-trick goal. A good appearance off the bench.
- 6 S. Khedira
Came on late in the second half.
- 9 K. Benzema
- 1 Iñaki Goitia
18-year-old was not fazed by the Bernabeu after he came on. Certainly showed signs of quality and looked dangerous when dribbling.
Showed plenty of confidence after his introduction and made a couple of decent crosses into the box. However, a few speculative shots were as close as he came to affecting the game.
- 7 Juanma
- 21 Cañas
R. Santa Cruz
Came on as a substitute but was unable to affect the game.
