Aurtenetxe 12' (own goal)
Sergio Ramos 30'
K. Benzema 32'
M. Özil 56'
S. Khedira 72'
Complete performance from Madrid, and had Iraizoz not been on his game, it may have been much higher than 5-1. The hosts stay third, eight points behind Barca. And that's it from me, till next time, folks.
90' + 2'
Di Maria and Ronaldo with a double one-two that ends when the Argentine fires just wide. Silky, sublime stuff, that deserved a sixth.
90' + 1'
Three minutes of added time to go.
Ronaldo has the ball taken off his toes inside the box just as Morata's low cross looked to have freed him for a clear shot on goal.
Spare a thought for Iraizoz, who has been in inspired form between the Bilbao posts. Apart from a slight gaffe on Khedira's goal, he has been on song, with five or six fantastic saves to keep the hosts at bay.
Almost quittin' time here in the Spanish capital. The 5-1 scoreline does not flatter the hosts in any way, as they have simply controlled the game. A great team performance.
Yellow Card Susaeta
Morata! Great chance to make it 6-1! A flowing counter attack sees Ronaldo tee up the substitute, who swivels on a dime on the edge of the area and lashes one towards goal, forcing the best out of Iraizoz again!
It's gravy time for the home fans, who are enjoying themselves out there as their team close out the most comfortable of victories. Their incredible dominance over Bilbao goes on.
It's just not been Ronaldo's night. He goes hurtling towards goal, but a crowd of defenders take the ball off his toes, sending him to the turf in the process. No foul, and a look of disgust from the Portuguese.
Xabi Alonso takes charge of a free kick about 45 yards out, but swings it embarrassingly high over the bar. Bet he'd like to have that one back.

Yellow Card Sergio Ramos
Yellow Card Carlos Gurpegui
Off goes Benzema, who has been majestic at times this evening.
Goal Sami Khedira
But not for long, as substitute Khedira squeezes in the home side's fifth under the unfortunate Iraizoz, who looks absolutely gutted between the posts. In case you haven't noticed, this is a rout people.
Ronaldo nearly punishes a slack Bilbao giveaway, accelerating past Ekiza and forcing Iraizoz into a strong punch clear. Benzema has a small window of opportunity to attack the rebound, but elects to hold up the ball instead of shooting first time and the chance for a fifth is gone.
Ángel Di María
Callejon makes way for Di Maria, just before Ronaldo heads a corner over the bar after pushing off a Bilbao defender.
Aritz Aduriz Zubeldia
Ooooh...a great ball into the box from Gomez comes within inches of being turned home by Susaeta! He wasn't far from it at all and he had evaded the attentions of Ramos...why not throw yourself at it?
Madrid again get some change down the left flank. Alonso releases Ronaldo on the run, but not for the first time this evening, his shot, though on target, is right at Iraizoz.
Modric forces a good save out of Iraizoz after gunning down the left side of the box and blasting towards the near post.
Remember to hit me up on Twitter @keeghann, I'd like to hear from you, our readers!
Ozil has done his job for the night. A goal and an assist, not a bad contribution! He goes off to be replaced by Khedira, who returns to the fold after missing the last five games through injury.
Could have been a fifth! Benzema is picked out inside the area by Alonso, but after lifting the ball over the keeper, Iraola makes a clutch clearance off the line!
Assist Karim Benzema
Goal Mesut Özil
MADRID MAKE IT FOUR! Excellent, picture perfect counter attack. Right from the missed penalty shout for Bilbao they break. Ronaldo feeds Benzema on the flanks with a great reverse pass, and the goalscorer, on a hat-trick, tees up the better-placed Ozil for a simple tap in!
Susaeta is certainly involved a lot in this game. His attempted cross is blocked by the falling Coentrao, and the ball clearly hits the defender's arms inside the box! No penalty though! I would have given that one had I been the referee and had I seen the incident!
Coentrao of all people is the one driving into the box, latching onto a reverse pass from Benzema. However, a bit of pressure from the defence puts him off, and his shot is bundled away for a corner, which comes to nothing.
Bilbao are attacking down the right in this half, and Susaeta has another chance to pick his target in the box. This time, he cannot beat the first man, and Ramos dives to head the ball away from danger.
Susaeta with a decent cross towards the far post that Arbeloa heads clear. Moments before, Ronaldo had cut in from the flanks, but with space to shoot, drives staright at Iraizoz.
A few comments from the Twittersphere. @Vichu_Rex: Madrid are attacking fiercefully at counter attacks and the dead balls. A comfortable 6-1 win with Benzema a hat-trick. @akudemeka: Well its been one sided, Madrid have been the better team, thoroughly deserved, problem is their inability to keep clean sheets. @Ablodevi4ever: Will Ronaldo get on the score sheet? Surely he must be itching in his boots, with Messi bearing down on Gerd Muller's record.
Yellow Card Iturraspe
Modric draws a foul on Iturraspe, earning the latter a yellow, Bilbao's second booking of the game.

Here we go again! On comes contract rebel Fernando Llorente for Iker Muniain to start the second half.
Madrid seemed home and dry after a brilliant Benzema brace, either side of a Ramos header put them three goals to the good. But Gomez restored some semblance of hope for the visitors minutes before the break, leaving the game not quite over for the second half! Stay tuned.
45' + 1'
Yellow Card Aritz Aduriz Zubeldia
45' + 1'
We've reached half time.
Aduriz picks up yellow for leading with his arm when challenging Ramos on a header. Fifth booking of the season for Bilbao's top scorer, and a one game suspension to come.
Bilbao break through again! Muniain releases Aduriz behind the defence towards the byline, but with the angle diminishing, he elects to shoot instead of cross, and Pepe manages to block his shot.
Well how quickly things change! Athletic could have been 4-0 down, but a brilliant Iraizoz save launches them on the counter, and Gomez instead makes it 3-1!
Goal Ibai Gómez
BILBAO PULL ONE BACK! A low cross is met on the turn by Ibai Gomez, who powers an excellent strike into the bottom corner past Casillas. This all came moments after Iraizoz made a tremendous save to prevent Callejon adding a fourth for Madrid!
Half time approaching, what are your thoughts on how the first period has gone? Reach me on Twitter @keeghann.
Benzema nearly seals his hat trick! A flowing counter attack led by Ronaldo sees Benzema teed up on the run in the middle. He slows up once in range, and lets fly with a low shot that Iraizoz does well to snare!
Well, Athletic are really floored by this turn of events. Simply nothing at all offered by them in an attacking sense. It just seems a matter of time before Madrid strike again.
Assist José Callejón
Goal Karim Benzema
RIGHT OUT OF THE TOP DRAWER FROM BENZEMA! Quite brilliant from the Franchman, who collects the ball facing away from goal, turns and cuts onto his left foot, and bends an absolutely superb effort into the corner! Bravo! Is it game over already?
Assist Mesut Özil
Goal Sergio Ramos
MADRID DOUBLE THEIR LEAD! A simple but effective goal - Ozil sends in a free-kick and Ramos heads in relatively unmarked at the far post.
Madrid have dominated, but only have the one goal to show for it so far. A few half chances have come since the opener, but they need to be a little more cutthroat in the attacking third.
Ronaldo, from LONG range, takes aim and forces Iraizoz into an awkward save. The Bilbao keeper manages to snare the rebound with Benzema lurking.
Madrid are slowly turning the screw here. In fact, they are playing a bit like Barcelona, building patiently from midfield, and forcing the Bilbao players to work very hard off the ball to close down the space.
Callejon had two half-chances to add a second for Madrid, first flashing a half-volley off target before forcing a corner after some good work out wide, to create some shooting space.
Own Goal Aurtenetxe
First real signs of life from Iker Muniain, who slices past two Madrid midfielders and feeds Iraola on the wing. But not for the first time, Pepe gets his head to the resulting cross and clears the danger.
Ramos does well to touch a ball into the box towards Ronaldo at the far post, but the Portuguese cannot get much purchase on his header and it goes out for a corner.
For one second, Iba looks like breaking clear of the defence, but Pepe gets across well to block for a corner. Positive start from the visitors here.
Here we go! Any thoughts throughout the game? Hit me up on Twitter @keeghann.
Tough omens for Bilbao, who have lost 12 of their last 13 visits to the Bernabeu, with their last five defeats against Los Blancos coming by a margin of at least three goals. Plus, Barcelona is next up on their calender.
