Despite the resounding win for Mourinho's men, APOEL can be very proud of what they have achieved in this year's tournament. Make sure to stick with us for all the post-match news and analysis, including match report and player ratings. Thank you for joining us at Goal.com tonight, my name is Tom Webber and it has been a pleasure to guide you through tonight's action.
A thoroughly entertaining second half comes to a close with APOEL's Champions League adventure coming to an end. In tonight's other game, Chelsea booked a semi-final with reigning champions Barcelona.
It is all over and Real Madrid book a semi-final tie with Bayern Munich as they defeated APOEL 5-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu. Ronaldo was in dazzling form and inspired his side to victory.
90' + 3'
The final whistle goes!
90' + 2'
Ronaldo forces another save from Pardo as he looks for his hat-trick. A low shot from 25 yards out is too close to the keeper who gets down and holds onto the ball.
Varane puts a great challenge in on Adorno deep in the Madrid half to avert any more goals. The French defender has performed well tonight and looks to be a real talent for the future.
DI MARIA!!! SO CLOSE!! The former Benfica man is again allowed to take his time on the ball and he strolls across the top of the box, from right to left, before bending an effort on goal. It is just lacking the dip as it drops above the bar and skids across the roof of the net.
The game has gone mad! APOEL almost get yet another goal back but Solari is offside when he turns Charalambidis' header into the net. Mourinho will not be pleased with giving away all these chances! The Cypriot should perhaps have scored there.
Goal Ángel Di María
BEAUTIFUL GOAL FROM DI MARIA!!! He wins the ball back in midfield and brings it forward unopposed. The Argentine looks up and spots Pardo of his line and produces an audacious lob as he lifts it over the keeper to nestle in the back of the net.
Assist Aldo Adorno
Penalty Goal E. Solari
COOL AS YOU LIKE!!! SOLARI!!! The Argentine steps up after Altintop brought down Adorno in the box. He trots up to the ball and casually slots it into the bottom corner with Casillas rooted to the spot.
Penalty to APOEL!!
Assist Ángel Di María
Goal José Callejón
GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!! CALLEJON!! He chests the ball down on the right side of the box and brings it inside of Poursaitides and slams the ball in at Pardo's near post.
Sergio Ramos searches out Ronaldo with a cross from the midway down the right of the APOEL half. He fails to beat the first man and Jorge sends it back where it came from.
After a flurry of chances for APOEL there is a bitter twist as Ronaldo extends the lead for Madrid. Alongside Higuain and Benzema, the trio now have 101 goals this season, a record in Spanish football, surpassing the previous holders Eto'o, Henry and Messi at Barcelona.
Goal C. Ronaldo
GOOOOOAAAAALLLL!!! RONALDO!! A free kick from the left corner of the box is caressed into the top corner by the Portuguese. Pardo gets his fingertips to it but cannot keep it out. That is only Ronaldo's second goal direct from a free kick this season.
Yellow Card Savvas Poursaitidis
Another couple of chances for APOEL to level the match! Firstly, Sergio Ramos almost heads Charalambidis' cross into his own net. Then, a free kick results in a scramble in the area that could well have gone anywhere. Charalambidis then sends in another cross, this time from the right but Kaka fails to find the net.
THAT WAS ALMOST THE EQUALISER!! Charalambidis carries the ball in from the left and looks to bend it into the far corner. His attempt is at a nice height for Casillas to get a strong hand on it and turn the ball behind.
Despite the tie being over I do not think Mourinho will be pleased with having conceded. Meanwhile for APOEL, Ailton is replaced by former Real Madrid player Santiago Solari's brother, Esteban.
Goal Gustavo Manduca
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLL!!! APOEL HAVE SCORED!!! What a well worked goal. Some more terrific interplay from the Cypriots and Ailton puts Manduca through with a great reverse pass. The Brazilian charges past Altintop and slots the ball home to send the APOEL fans into raptures.
Some neat play by APOEL sees Ailton tee the ball up for Marcinho about 25 yards from goal. The Brazilian strikes it but completely slices his attempt which rolls pitifully wide of Casillas' goal.
Ailton finally has an opportunity to run on the ball and he surges down the left before cutting the ball into the middle. His team-mate tries a quick first-time pass but ends up kicking the ball out of play.
Pepe releases Ronaldo with a great pass down the right-hand channel. The Portuguese chops the ball inside of Kaka but he puts far too much on it and Paulo Jorge manages to beat him to it and clear the danger.
Yet another wayward effort for Madrid. This time it is courtesy of Altintop who has not produced his best shooting tonight. It looks like Raul Abiol could make an appearance soon as Mourinho seeks to save legs for the next Liga game.
The visitors have enjoyed their best spell of the game in the last few minutes. Alleviating the pressure by getting the ball forward and taking their time with possession. However as they commit only a few bodies forward, they run out of options fast and eventually surrender control.
Ángel Di María
Our man in the stadium, Alberto Pinero noted that this 2012, Di María has only played 30 minutes before this last Liga match against Osasuna because of the injuries. With Higuain off, the pressure to become Spain's highest scoring trio falls on the shoulders of Ronaldo for now.
APOEL are staying well organised defensively. Their five midfielders are screening their defence capably, not allowing Madrid the space to thread through a killer pass.
Madrid have been knocking the ball about in the final third at their leisure this evening and there is no pressure on Granero as he receives a pass from Kaka just outside the box. He strikes the ball but it takes a deflection which decreases the speed of his effort and flights it into the arms of Pardo.
Manuca runs into a dead end on the left for APOEL but he is fouled by Kaka in a decent area for the Cypriots. The free kick is sent into the box but a Madrid head is put on it.
APOEL get the second half underway!
Welcome back, the second half is just a few moments away. One more goal from either Ronaldo, Higuain or Benzema would make them the most prolific trio in Spanish football history with 101 goals. Do you reckon they will get it? Let me know on Twitter @thwebber.
The first 45 minutes are over at the Bernabeu and Real Madrid hold a deserved 2-0 lead over APOEL. Goals from Ronaldo and Kaka are the difference as the visitors have struggled to keep Los Blancos out again. Join me for the second half in 15 minutes but in the meantime, send you tweets to @thwebber.
45' + 1'
We are into the first minutes of added time and APOEL earn themselves a corner. It is taken by Charalambidis but it is an awful attempt which crashes into the side netting.
That was rather ambitious! Young French defender Varane plumps for a shot in excess of 30 yards away from goal. It was never testing Pardo and flies well over the goal.
Ronaldo and Marcelo will not give APOEL a moments rest. Once more they combine down the left and the Brazilian's cutback is deflected onto his own goal by Nuno Morais. Pardo is reluctant to pick it up and gives the ball a sheepish flick away which almost goes straight back to Ronaldo inside the area.
ALMOST ANOTHER!! Ronaldo spots Kaka streaming forward and slides the ball to his feet. He puts it onto his right boot and looks to produce a similar effort to the one that found the net just moments ago. This time he fails to get enough curl on the ball as it shades the outside of Pardo's left post.
The only time APOEL have seen the ball in this half is when they are kicking it away from Madrid. Mourinho's side are giving the performance that many expected in the first leg and clearly the Bernabeu is the difference.
GOOOOAAALLL!!! KAKA!! What a beauty from the Brazilian. Marcelo recycles the ball from the left to his compatriot who takes one touch before shaping for the shot. He releases an absolute pearl of an effort that bends into the top corner past Pardo with unbelievable finesse.
Great effort! Ronaldo tries to skip his way through the APOEL defence but is eventually tackled. However, Kaka picks up the loose ball and tries were his team-mate failed. He manages to get a shot off but it is always rising and ends up high and wide of the goal.
The goal seems to have calmed Madrid and they have stepped off the gas just a little. Ronaldo tries to slip in Granero but the midfielder's touch is far too heavy and it rolls all the way through to Pardo.
Another less-than-half-chance for APOEL. Pinto screws a volley off target but straight into the path of Ailton. The Brazilian tries to control the ball and kill it with his first touch but it gets away from him and Casillas gathers.
The Portuguese had already threatened a few times tonight and has now find his first goal of the tie. Their 100 goal milestone equals the current record at a Spanish club of Samuel Eto'o, Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry when at Barcelona.
Goal C. Ronaldo
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!! RONALDO!! Well they could not hold on for 74 minutes this time around. Marcelo whips in a great cross from the left and it goes all the way to the back post where Ronaldo is waiting to bundle it into the back of the net. Alongside Benzema and Higuain, the trio have now reached 100 goals this season.
SO CLOSE!! Again it is a long pass from deep but this time it is part of a set play after Kaka conceded a free kick for the visitors. It is lofted into the box and Ronaldo gets his head on it but sends it over the bar and it drops on the roof of the net.
APOEL are again defending stoutly, repelling everything that their hosts throw at them. As Madrid fail to pick through a gap, they play the ball back and repeatedly look for the long pass from deep.
Marcelo bombs forward down the left and bursts into the box before cutting inside the APOEL defence. Poursaitides gets back to poke the ball off his feet before he can get a shot away. The Cypriots then counter from the corner but fail to pull the trigger and test Casillas.
A great spell for Madrid as they pen APOEL back with every man behind the ball. The middle is highly congested though so Granero opts to cross from a deep position on the left and eludes every player in the box. Still, our readers expect goals tonight with @bonsharoz and @sohaibarshadbut expecting more than three goals by full time.
The only way APOEL got a rest from the relentless Madrid attack in the first leg was by giving the ball to their lone striker Ailton, and asking him to run. He has yet to be in possession for long enough to offer his defenders a moments respite and Madrid are enjoying a great start.
Paulo Jorge gives possession away cheaply for the hosts and offers Altintop a chance to run at goal. He jinks outside of Kaka and aims a ball at the back post. However it is too deep for Ronaldo as it flies well over his head.
Marcelo clips a cross over the top right into the gap between the defenders and the keeper. Pardo comes out to claim it but drops it once again. Fortunately for the keeper Boaventura is back to cover and get rid of the ball.
Yet another chance for Madrid! Ronaldo again getting a lot of joy down the left and he puts in a deep cross to Altintop at the back post. The former Bayern Munich player fires a volley at Pardo's goal but Kaka again makes the interception.
A great diagonal ball puts Sergio Ramos in at the byeline. He attempts to volley in a first-time cross but it deflects off of Kaka and out for a corner. The ball comes in and Pardo spills it but the referee notices a foul in the box and calls a halt to the play.
Great save by Pardo!! APOEL's Kaka makes an awful mistake in the area and gifts Ronaldo the ball in the area. The keeper rushes out and stays big to deny the Portuguese from opening the scoring.
Well the game has begun very much as expected. Real Madrid are controlling possession with APOEL getting every man behind the ball to try and stifle Mourinho's side. Will they be able to keep it up for as long as they did in the first leg?
Early chance for Higuain! Great skills from Ronaldo out on the left as he shimmies and shakes to make space for the cross. Boaventura makes a hash of the clearance and it lands at the Argentine's head but he fails to nod it on target.
Too early to claim for that one Ronaldo? Just 50 seconds in and the Portuguese has his heels clipped in the area. He goes down but does not appeal. What a gentleman.
And we are underway at Santiago Bernabeu!
The minute remembrance is over and the teams are ready to start the game.
Alberto Pinero is our man in the stadium tonight and I will feed you all the updates from within the Bernabeu as soon as we hear them.
So Mourinho has made five changes to the team that won the first leg 3-0 with Varane, Sahin, Granero, Altintop and Kaka all starting. However, Los Blancos should still have enough about them to comfortably beat APOEL.
Madrid fans will be paying tribute to Juanito, who died 20 years ago on Monday in a car accident, and there will be a minute's silence and black armbands worn in tribute to José María Zarraga, who died yesterday aged 81. He was one of three Madrid players, along with Gento and Di Stéfano, to start in the five consecutive European Cups wins from 1956 to 1960.
As always you can get involved with all the action tonight. You can send your thoughts, comments and predictions on Twitter to @thwebber and I will feature the best ones.
Madrid do not need to score any goals tonight to ensure qualification, but should Benzema, Ronaldo or Higuain score, it will be the trio's 100th goal in all competitions this season. This would equal the record in Spain set by Barcelona trio Samuel Eto'o, Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi.
APOEL (4-5-1): Pardo; Paulo Jorge, Poursaitides, Boaventura, Kaka; Charalambides, Manduca, Pinto, Morais, Marcinho; Ailton. Subs: Chiotis, Ilia, Helder Sousa, Satsias, Adorno, Alexandrou, Solari.
Starting with the hosts, Real Madrid (4-2-3-1): Casillas; Marcelo, Pepe, Varane, Ramos; Sahin, Granero; Altintop, Kaka, Ronaldo; Higuain. Subs: Adan, Benzema, Ozil, Alonso, Albiol, Callejon, Di Maria.
With a strong advantage from the first leg, Jose Mourinho has opted to rest a number of key players in order to give some of the squad members some minutes on the pitch. Here comes the full team news.
Good evening and welcome to Goal.com's LIVE coverage of Real Madrid v APOEL from the Santiago Bernabeu! Jose Mourinho's men are already 3-0 ahead from the first leg in Cyprus, so tonight's clash is a case of seeing out the tie with the minimum of fuss. The semi-finals await for Los Blancos!
