• Madejski Stadium, Reading, Berkshire
Referee: C. Foy

Joe Doyle Live at the Madejski Stadium: "A fairly boring stalemate at the Madejski Stadium today, unlike Reading's draw here two weeks ago with Fulham. Neither side really deserved three points on the balance of play, with the hosts having the better of the first half, and Norwich the second. The closest either side came to opening the scoring was Kebe's cross that struck the bar."
Both managers will be able to take positives from the match, but the draw will be a lot less satisfying to Reading manager Brian McDermott. The Royals opened the game brightly, exerting control in midfield for long periods of the game through the endeavor of Jay Tabb and Mikele Leigertwood, and showing more enterprise going forward throughout the match through winger Jobi McAnuff in particular. In truth however their aerial bombardment was well dealt with by the Norwich defence, who were supported throughout a commendable away performance by Michael Turner and Sebastien Bassong. Wes Hoolahan produced several moments of quality for the away side, while the Canaries successfully closed down the game after Reading had looked threatening shortly beyond the hour mark. The Royals are now winless after ten matches, while the Canaries return home unbeaten in five games in all competitions.

Tettey wins the ball in his own half and runs the ball up the pitch but receives no support from his teammates, who appear content to record a draw.
Hoolahan attempts to find Anthony Pilkington who had hoped to run in behind the right side of the Reading defence, but the ball is overhit and though Pilkington wins a throw-in, the game has slowed down as it appears neither side is willing to risk all in search of a win.
Michael Turner appears hurt after a challenge with Pogrebnyak and the flow of the game is broken up.
Steve Morison replaces Holt as Chris Hughton switches his target man, while pacey winger Elliott Bennett replaces Robert Snodgrass on the right flank. Bennett is right footed and will offer a very different threat on the counter to the left-footed Snodgrass.
Holt meets a left wing cross to get his header on target from the centre of the box, but the ball flies straight at Federici who catches the effort.
Adam Le Fondre attempts a bicycle kick from Kebe's cross from the right wing.
Anthony Pilkington picks up the ball after a first time pass from Holt, and he blasts the ball over the bar taking a shot from outside the box.
Snodgrass heads over after a promising cross from the left flank. He looks disappointed.
Adam Le Fondre
Michael Turner collects a yellow card after felling Roberts after the big striker had got past him on the left by-line.

Norwich neatly exchange passes on the edge of the box and eventually find Garrido in space on the left flank. His cross reaches Holt at the back post, but his header back across goal is cleared by the Royals' defence.
Kebe attempts to beat Garrido on the right flank, but cannot get a dangerous cross in as his attempt is collected by Ruddy.
Adam Federici slows the game down as he takes a goal kick, to slow down what had been a frenetic few minutes.
Garrido aims an excellent cross from the left wing into Holt, who had moved into position for a free header, but Gorkss leaps high in the centre of the box and gets just enough on the ball to put Holt off and his header runs wide.
The disappointing kick does not beat the wall but Reading retain possession and Bassong is forced to beat Roberts to a low pass into the forward, and when Kebe picks up the ball his cross from the right wing bounces off the top of the cross bar.
Kebe shows power and pace to beat Bradley Johnson in centre midfield before being brought down on the edge of the box by Alex Tettey. Shorey and McAnuff stand menacingly over the ball.

Noel Hunt concedes a free kick for a foul after a sliding challenge on Snodgrass.
And the second half gets underway at the Madejski Stadium, with the Royals winning a corner in the first minute. Shorey takes the corner and his side retain possession after the delivery, before he overhits a cross to concede possession.
Joe Doyle live at the Madejski Stadium: "It's been a pretty barren game so far, with only one real shot of note, as Garath McCleary tested John Ruddy from just outside the area. There has been plenty of involvement from the fans though, with some of the chanting as vulgar as it is hilarious."
Reading opened the half the stronger of the two sides, and demonstrated more ambition in attack given their search for a first win of the season. Brian McDermott's side closed down their opponents quickly and bombarded them with crosses from Jobi McAnuff and Garath McCleary on the flanks, and from Nicky Shorey on set pieces. Norwich however have defended resolutely and offered enough in attack to suggest they would cause problems if the Royals over-commit in search of three points. Each manager can take positives from the opening half but the course of the game could be determined by the decisions of the respective managers at half time, should either decide to go in search of a valuable win at the expense of stability in defence.

Norwich have quickened the tempo and Snodgrass gets into the box to head an awkward effort wide after meeting Hoolahan's cross.
Shorey aims an excellent delivery from a left flank free kick, which centre back Gorkss rises to meet with a powerful header that flies over the bar. Norwich centre back Sebastien Bassong does well to put him off his effort.
Left back Garrido aims an accurate long pass to Holt on the right edge of the box. Holt gets across Nicky Shorey and flicks the ball onto Hoolahan, but centre back Morrison is on-hand to clear the ball.

Reading's only change sees Adam Federici brought in as goalkeeper following an injury to Alex McCarthy last Sunday against QPR. Brian McDermott otherwise names an unchanged side, relying on striking duo Noel Hunt and Jason Roberts with Russian international summer signing Pavel Pogrebnyak on the bench.
