WHAT A START to the new season in France, and indeed Europe. A first half of shame for PSG saw them fall behind to two opportunistic goals from Lorient. But the second half changed all that, as a blitz from PSG was rewarded with two goals from Ibrahimovic, with the equaliser coming from the penalty spot in the last minute of regulation. 2-2 is the final score and a fair result. Good result for Lorient, but a shaky beginning to the project for PSG.
90' + 3'
Last, last gap free-kick for Lorient on the right edge of the box. Traore does not even want to try to steal a winner, playing it short as the referee blows the final whistle!!!
90' + 2'
Menez involved again as he tries to control a high pass from Ibrahimovic in the box. The referee's whistle goes, and thousands of fans are up in arms for another penalty. But no, instead, its a handball against Menez. Good call.
90' + 1'
BRILLIANT touch from Romano to take the ball off the toes of Menez from point blank range. Menez felt he was fouled, but nothing doing from the ref, and quite rightly so.
Penalty Goal Zlatan Ibrahimovic
IBRAHIMOVIC SCORES!!! Audard got a touch, but can't keep the penalty from flashing into the left side of the net! PSG have done it, 2-2, and three minutes of stoppage time to go!!!
Yellow/Red Grégory Bourillon
RED CARD FOR BOURILLON! What a shame for the defender, who was absolutely outstanding all game. Ibrahimovic steps up...
PENALTY TO PSG!!! Bourillon trips Matudi as he surges into the box on another PSG attack. Could be more trouble for Lorient as the referee strides over...
A brilliant headed one-two between Gameiro and Ibrahimovic leads to the Swede drawing the keeper out of his area with his back to goal. He back heels it, Gameiro is about to connect, but Bourillon makes a vital, VITAL interception!!!
NENE!! Not as open as his chance a minute ago, but he still has an opportunity to cross from the right, after breaking free once again. However, he goes for glory, and instead sends it flying high over the bar.
The last minute has seen no fewer than FOUR clear cut chances go begging for PSG!!!! Lorient somehow escape without conceding as Gameiro, Nene, Menez and Ibrahimovic all fail to score from point blank range. Just incredible that PSG haven't equalised.
GOOOA....but its offside! Celebrations are halted in their tracks as Chantome's run and finish from Ibrahimovic's brilliant feed is deemed illegitimate. Close shave!
Lorient again cause problems on the counter attack! Aliadere is the instigator, leading a 3-on-3 break. With two players in the box to cross to and time to do so, he instead cuts in onto his right foot and fires over the bar. Wrong decision.
Traore's pressure forces Alex into an unconvincing back pass that sparks a small footrace between Aliadiere and Sakho. But credit to the PSG defender, he does well to shepard the striker away from the ball.
The offside flag rescues Lorient, as Jallet was inches away from breaking down the right, completely unobstructed, with Ibrahimovic and Nene in the box.
Lorient have twice looked dangerous in the last two minutes on the break. Aliadiere and Traore continue to pose a threat, despite all the action occurring at the opposite end of the pitch.
Menez and Gameiro team up on the corner of the PSG box, and the former manages to slip in the overlapping Maxwell. The full-back has space to shoot, but Audard makes himself big and blocks the shot.
A bit of a surprise as Lavezzi is the one subbed for Gameiro. The Argentine has been very dangerous since the interval, linking well with Ibrahimovic. I would have put money on the profligate Menez making way.
A rare breather for the visitors, as Jallet mis-controls a pass out wide, leading to a goal kick. Meanwhile, Kevin Gameiro, formely of Lorient, now of PSG, is being readied on the sidelines.
It is now all PSG, as it has been for the entirety of this half. What a turnaround from the disjointed showing in the opening period. Lorient are hanging on for dear life. Mind you, they still hold a one-goal lead...
MENEZ! Another wasted chance! Show-stopping stuff from Lavezzi and Ibrahimovic, the former releasing the latter down the left flank. Ibrahimovic does everything right, squaring right onto the boot of the onrushing Menez, but the finish is set into orbit!
Goal Zlatan Ibrahimovic
GOOOOOOAL!!! PSG are back in the game!!! What a brilliant Ibrahimovic goal, and so typical of the big man! A long ball from the halfway line is pumped into the box. Ibra out-jumps Bourillon so much that he traps the pass with his chest. With the Lorient defender out of the way, Ibra collects himself in time to slot into the corner! 2-1!
Will PSG salvage a result in this match? Will Lorient punish them on the counter again? Get in touch on twitter @keeghann, I want to hear your comments!
Chance after chance after chance. It's Menez who is found wanting this time, after a reboud from a set-piece falls right into his lap inside the six yard area. However, he skies it well over the bar. No excuses for not hitting the target there.
Yellow Card Grégory Bourillon
Bourillon goes into the book now after a meaty challenge that sends Menez flying.
The game is wide, wide open now. First, Ibra is afforded all kinds of time on the left, and slips in Nene on the overlap, whose dangerous cross is met by no one. Then Lorient hit back, Traore and Aliadiere leading a 3-on-2 break, but Alex makes an outstanding slide challenge to take the ball off Aliadiere's toes.
Lavezzi is found in space, this time popping up on the right flank. His cross is deep, and flashed back across goal, where Romano throws himself in front of the dangerous loose ball.
All the credit must go to PSG for their explosive start to the second-half. Lorient have been kept squarely under their thumb, and but for poor finishing, PSG would surely have a goal to their name by now.
IBRA HITS THE POST!!! How are PSG not on the board! Lavezzi does fantastically well to skip past his marker and fire in a lovely deep cross towards the far post. Ibra, unmarked, meets it with the inside of his boot, but smacks it back off the woodwork! Should have been 2-1!!
Alex with another change to get on the end of a set piece. The delivery is not as inch-perfect as the one that led to his first half chance, but he still misjudges it and heads over the bar.
Another moment of quality from Ibrahimovic. Spotting Menez offside, he instead decided to drive towards goal himself, evading two defenders with only a touch off the toenail of Bourillon denying him a clear sight on goal. Fantastic defending again.
What. A. Miss. PSG should have had a goal back. Jallet again the instigator on the right flank. sending in a deep cross that is trapped by Ibra. The Swede, instead of shooting, slides the ball across goal, where it is dummied by Menez into the path of Lavezzi, 5 yards from goal, unmarked. His finish, however, is a sad sight to behold, and is smothered by Douchez. Beyond poor.
CLOSE call there for Lorient. Jallet storms forward and sends an early cross into the heart of the box. Ibrahimovic is primed to get on the end of it, but Bourillon sneakily backs into him just enough to put him off, but not enough for the referee to call a foul. Savvy defending.
PSG start in control, holding possession in the Lorient half. But the visitors are keeping numbers back, preventing the Parisians from finding any space.
Bad news for Lorient, Manga, their outstanding defender from the first half, has succumbed to a knee injury and is replaced by Coutadeur.
Do you think Lorient deserve their lead? What changes should Ancelotti make at the interval? How bad do they need Thiago Silva at the back? Get in touch on Twitter @keeghann.
A simply amazing tale developing here, as PSG trail 2-0 to Lorient at home, both goals as a result of bad defending. A positive start from the big-spending capital side quickly petered out, as Lorient defended diligently, realizing that they would have chances on the counter. In contrast to the PSG back line, the Lorient centre-back pair of Manga and Bourillon have been superb, while Aliadiere has troubled incessantly up front. Carlo Ancelotti certainly has his work cut out for him at half time.
45' + 3'
Assist Lucas Mareque
45' + 3'
Goal Jeremie Aliadiere
ALIADIERE! ALIADIERE!!!! Another pathetic, pathetic defensive sequence from PSG, making the former Arsenal castoff look like Lionel Messi. He collects the ball on the left and storms towards goal, past four PSG players who show little interest in tackling him. He squares up to Douchez, and probably had time to pick his nose before bundling home a finish. 2-0!!!
45' + 1'
Both Ibrahimovic and Menez are caught offside after attempting to run onto a punt from defence by Sakho. A bit slack from the pair of them.
Three minutes of stoppage time to end the half as Lorient continue to hold possession in the last few minutes.
WORLD CLASS SAVE FROM DOUCHEZ!!! Traore's free kick is perfectly struck, and about to sneak into the top corner. But Douchez, in one magnificent moment, justifies his selection with a one-handed stop. Contender for save of the season already!
Free kick to Lorient about 25 yards from goal after a Maxwell foul. Traore stands over it, but there is a bit of a delay as the referee moves the wall back to its proper 10-yard distance.
Jallet is found by Verratti on the overlap down the right. He clips in an inviting ball, but Bourillon is there to head the ball away from his goal. Another strong defensive sequence from Lorient.
Good alert defending from Sakho. A devlish cross from the left by Traore is aimed towards Aliadiere's head, but the centre-back does excellently to steal in and nod it away from danger.
Monnet-Paquet is back on his feet, a bit gingerly, but play can resume.
Now Monnet-Paquet is down after a grisly aerial duel with Alex. Hints of an elbow there, and the Lorient goalscorer is undergoing treatment on the field, halting the game for a few minutes.
MADNESS IN THE LORIENT BOX!!! A lovely clip from Verratti finds Lavezzi in space. He shrugs off Manga, and attempts an athletic finish that is thwarted by Audard. The rebound is there for the taking, but Manga recovers in time to put in a SUPERB challenge to halt Ibrahimovic from turning home a surefire goal. Skin of the teeth!!!
Ibrahimovic kills a pass on the byline and squares up to two Lorient defenders, with a view to crossing to one of his teammates queuing up in the centre. However, the Lorient pair do enough to block his delivery.

A driving rum by Lavezzi on the left sees him cut inside and slip a pass in towards Bodmer, who is just a step too slow, allowing Audard to step out and collect. Once again, PSG just a tad out of sync in the attacking third.
An encouraging start from PSG has fizzled out as Lorient have more than held their own in both halves of the pitch. There have been chances at both ends, and no shortage of entertainment.
Monnet-Pacquet again makes headway down the left. No one in a PSG shirt there to meet him. He tries to make lightning strike twice, sending a low cross into the area, but this time it flashes out for a goal-kick, just the wring side of the post.
Another counter attack, another Lorient chance. Aliadiere again picks up the ball in a dangerous area, squares towards goal, and shoots low and hard. Douchez though, makes a clean smother. But again, the simple passes are causing PSG way too much trouble. Lorient aren't doing anything special, its simply rank disorganization in the PSG back line.
Douchez gets across his line well to grab a decent enough set-piece from Mvuemba. Diligent goalkeeping.
Yellow Card Clément Chantôme
Chamtome becomes our first booking of the evening after an awkward tackle on Mareque. Free kick to come, 25 yards out...
PSG are a shambles every time Lorient break. The defending is awful at times, something that Ancelotti will doubtless look to improve on. Thiago Silva anyone?
2-0 LORIENT...but no, the flag is up!!! Aliadiere does the initial damage, twice finding space for a shot and twice being denied by Douchez. The second rebound falls to Traore, completely unmarked, who turns it home, but was fractionally offside...big let off for PSG!!!
The delivery is excellent and finds Alex unmarked, but his diving header is poorly executed and sent off target!! He had to work the keeper at the very least there!!!
IBRAHIMOVIC!!! The big man rises above his marker and beats a header low towards the near post, but Audard gets down to palm it away! Another corner to come...
PSG win two corners in a row, the first is headed out by Manga, the second is about to be whipped in...
Lorient are slowly growing into the game in the last few minutes. They still haven't threatened in an attacking sense, but they have ramped up their efforts and and are closing down the PSG attackers faster, resulting in a few misplaced passes.
Ibrahimovic does brilliantly to pluck a high pass out of the air and release Chantome down the right hand side. But his attempt at a cross instead ends with him tripping over his own feet.
Lorient tighten up the ship ever so slightly, and are doing better at doubling up on the bodies out wide. Maxwell ventures forward down the left, but his cross is blocked out for a throw.
PSG have been on top here, and are certainly having little trouble finding space in the Lorient half. The two wide men, Menez and Lavexxi, have been particularly adept at causing danger. But Lorient are the ones in front as things stand.
Menez this time providing the danger, escaping on the right and flashing a low ball across the six yard box that comes within inches of the outstretched boot of Lavezzi!!
Lavezzi attempts to hit back straightaway with a powerful drive from the edge of the box that flies straight into the arms of Audard. PSG looking testy.
Own Goal Maxwell
OWN GOAL! LORIENT HAVE BROKEN THE DEADLOCK! All the credit must go to Monnet-Paquet, who exploited his space down the left flank brilliantly, surged towards the byline, and slipped in a seemingly harmless centre that was clumsily bundled in by Maxwell. What a shocker!
MENEZ CHANCE!!! Ibrahimovic starts the move, flicking on Lavezzi on the right. The Argentine shrugs his shoulders, strides into the box and slips in Menez, whose low shot is blocked well by Aurdad!
PSG looking to get the wide men, Menez and Lavezzi involved early. Ibrahimovic has come up with a few decent touches so far.
And we're off!
We're about ready to get underway here. Get in touch via Twitter @keeghann for any comments or thoughts on the game!
But spare a thought for Lorient, lost in all the pre-match hype about PSG's expensive juggernaut. Les Merlus finished 17th last season, one point off the relegation places, and are up against it today. They do have a decent record here in Paris, do they have a chace of repeating last season's famous result?
In case you haven't heard, the Parisians also allegedly tabled a £40m bid for Man City's Mario Balotelli, which was rejected due to a reported quit threat from Roberto Mancini. I guess they're worrying about Financial Fair Play another day.
PSG now boast what I believe is the strongest squad ever assembled in Ligue 1. Two of their highest profile acquisitions, Lavezzi and that man Ibrahimovic, make the starting XI tonight. Last season's top scorer Nene will have to settle for a place on the bench, something he might have to get used to this season.
Both sides also squared off in August 2011 to open the 2011-12 season, with Lorient clinching a famous 1-0 win at the Parc Des Princes. Needless to say, the situation has changes somewhat in the past year.
Lorient (4-4-2): Audard; L. Kone, Bourillon, Ecuele Manga, Mareque; Jouffre, Romao, Mvuemba, Monnet-Paquet; Aliadiere, Al Traore.
PSG (4-3-2-1): Douchez; Jallet, Alex, Sakho, Maxwell; Chantome, Verratti, Bodmer; Lavezzi Menez; Ibrahimovic.
Lineups are in...
