Full time in Guimaraes. Portugal are defeated 3-2 by Ecuador on their own patch. Valencia put the hosts ahead after just two minutes but a superb piece of work from Ronaldo equaled the game. A horrible own goal from Joao Pereira and a cracking strike from Felipe Caicedo cancelled out Helder Postiga's equaliser as the South Americans come out with an impressive victory. I'm Martin Macdonald, thanks for joining us on Goal.com! See you next time!
90' + 3'
Yellow Card Fabio Coentrao

Yellow Card E. Morante
90' + 3'
What a miss from Christian Benitez!!! He rounds the goalkeeper but somehow blasts his shot wide! There was an open goal but he missed the target completely!
90' + 2'
Moutinho smashes the ball along the six yard box but, again, the Ecuadorians defend bravely and manage to clear. They really have defended superbly for the majority of the match.
90' + 1'
Eder is fouled just outside the box and Moutinho will take the free kick. The set-piece is delayed as there is some hustle and bustle in the box that the referee is not happy with.
Portugal hit the woodwork!!! Moutinho drifts in another superb free kick to the back post and Custodio bullets a header off the crossbar!! The hosts come within inches of equalising!
A promising attack from Portugal is once again broken down due to a poor pass. This time the guilty party is Danny, who misplaced his ball inside to Moutinho.
Very scrappy match in the remaining minutes. Both sides are resorting to long punts up top to try and get joy, but so far, none has came. Portugal are not exactly going gung-ho to try and find an equaliser.
Ecuador have been sitting back since going ahead, but Valencia and substitute, Pedro, have done well to take the ball down the wings to take the pressure off their defence. Portugal look like a beaten team now.
Moutinho and Ronaldo have been the only men in a Portugal shirt who have always looked for the ball tonight. The match has passed by the rest.
BENITEZ!!! Valencia sends a deflected cross into the area and the former Birmingham City striker rises high to glance a header towards the bottom corner, bu the attempt goes inches by the post! Unlucky!
Despite this being a friendly, this may still be a damaging defeat to Portugal. If they perform like this in World Cup Qualifying they may come up short, even against the weaker teams in the group.
Moutinho flashes the ball into the area but the Ecuador defence remain solid clear the ball to safety. The attacking ambition of the South American side may just subside as we approach the latter stages of the match.
Coentrao turns sharply inside the Ecuador half and looks to burst through the middle but he is cheaply fouled by Segundo Castillo. Free kick to Portugal just outside the centre circle.
Another change for Portugal as Nani is replaced by Danny. It seems as if the Manchester United man may be getting booed by his own crowd! Harsh.
Assist C. Benítez
Goal Felipe Caicedo
GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAL FOR ECUADOR!!! Benitez chests the ball down on the edge of the box for Caicedo, and the Lokomotiv Moscow man fires a thunderbolt of a strike into the top left corner! 3-2!!
Portugal intercept and look to counterattack through Varela down the right! But the substitute turns back and the pace of the attack is gone. Portugal retain possession, though.
Ecuador enjoying a nice period of possession at the moment. The Portuguese fans boo erupt in rapturous boos as the South Americans play the ball back to the goalkeeper.
The tempo has slowed down drastically in the last 10 minutes or so. We may have entered 'international friendly territory' here. The first half was certainly not played like a friendly!
Yellow Card Felipe Caicedo
After the hour mark we see raft of changes from both teams. The pick of the bunch sees Cristiano Ronaldo being withdrawn for Silvestre Varela.
Own Goal João Pereira
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAL FOR ECUADOR!!! The South Americans respond immediately, and in fortuitous fashion!! Joao Pereira sends a back pass to Eduardo which wrong-foots the Portugal goalkeeper and goes into the net! 2-2! Game on!
Goal Hélder Postiga
GOOOOOOOAAAAAAL FOR PORTUGAL!!! 2-1!! Nani picks up the ball on the left-hand side and fizzes it to the front post, and Postiga gets in front of his marker to stab home!! The hosts go ahead!
Yellow Card M. Banguera
Portugal are definitely on top here. Ecuador have barely got out of their own half in this second period.
The home crowd shout for a penalty again!! This time Moutinho clips a lovely pass to the left-hand side for Coentrao, and the fullback looks to send the ball into the box on the volley. The ball cannons off Paredes at right-back. That should be a penalty! The ball hit his elbow!
The second half has lost some of the intensity that made the first period so vibrant. It has partly happened because Ecuador have retreated more into their own half. Perhaps they are looking to counterattack?
Ronaldo is cynically fouled inside the Ecuador half but he dusts himself off quickly and Portugal elect to take it quick and retain possession in the final third. They are looking to wear down the South Americans.
Good take again from Banguera. Moutinho dips in a dangerous free kick but the Ecuadorian comes out and claims the ball despite being under massive pressure from Postiga. That's exactly what you need from your 'keeper!
Great save again from Banguera!! Coentrao runs in behind the Ecuador defence and stabs a shot towards the bottom corner, but the goalkeeper tips the ball round the post for a corner!
Portugal in control in the opening stages. Moutinho, Meireles, and Veloso are beginning to assert their authority in midfield.
We are back under way!
Half time in Guimaraes. Portugal and Ecuador go into the break at 1-1. Antonio Valencia opened the scoring in the first two minutes with a header but a moment of magic from Cristiano Ronaldo equalised for the European side. A terrific match so far! Join us in 15 minutes for the second period!
Yellow Card João Pereira
Yellow Card Jefferson Montero
Pereira and Montero both receive yellow card for a tussle on the left flank. Both were getting in each others faces and get booked for their trouble. Something out of nothing, really.
Again, Meireles is guilty of breaking down an attack. The ball comes inside to the Fenerbahce man in a great position 20 yards from goal, and his attempted clip into the box for Ronaldo goes straight into the hands of Banguera.
Penalty shout for Portugal!! Helder Postiga gets in behind the Ecuador defence but Bagui shoulders him over inside the box! The home fans are screaming for a spot-kick but the ref plays on! Probably the correct decision from the official.
A feature of the game so far has been the intense pressing down of both teams. Possession is being surrendered regularly as both teams are being hounded for the ball by the opposition. It's making for terrific entertainment.
Benitez steps over the ball and Caicedo steps up and has a crack, but the Portugal wall remains solid to block the attempt. The hosts eventually clean up and take possession up the park.
Ecuador have a real opportunity here. Bruno Alves stupidly charges Noboa down on right on the edge of his own box. The visitors have a free kick 19 yards from goal.
Very, very poor from Meireles. He picks up the ball 25 yards from goal, and, with plenty of other options, dribbles a weakly struck shot by the left-hand post. He receives a few accusing glares from his team-mates.
Superb last-ditch tackle from Neto!! Caicedo drives through towards Eduardo and gets ready to pull the trigger, but the Portugal debutant comes in with a perfectly-timed challenge to put the ball out for a corner. The Portuguese has been impressive so far.
Nani has the opportunity to get a decent delivery into the box but the cross is flat and Ecuador easily manage to clear. That's a few times the Portuguese has received the ball and he has failed to produce a final ball.
Yellow Card C. Noboa
Both sides are really going for this here!! There is plenty of space being created in the final third and there is definitely more goals in this.
First yellow card of the match goes to Noboa of Ecuador. The midfielder went in very late on Moutinho inside the centre circle. A deserved booking for the Dinamo Moscow man.
Assist Fabio Coentrao
Goal C. Ronaldo
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAL FOR PORTUGAL!!! Wonderful play from Ronaldo!! Coentrao flicks the ball into the box for his captain, who juggles the ball once before fizzing a right-footed volley into the far corner! Fantastic! 1-1!
Free kick to Portugal which Ronaldo will hit. The Real Madrid man steps and smashes the set-piece with venom, but it goes at least 10 metres over the bar. Not his best.
Antonio Valencia and Fabio Coentrao are having quite the duel down the right-hand side. The duo will perhaps be facing each in a few weeks time when Real Madrid face Manchester United in the Champions League.
What a save from Eduardo!!!Caicedo breaks through on goal to the right-hand side and rolls a shot towards the bottom corner, but the Portugal 'keeper stretches out a hand and tips the ball away!! Nearly 2-0 to Ecuador!
The Portugal fans are already making their feelings known by echoing out boos in the stadium! The early Ecuador goal was not part of the plan!
Portugal debutant, Luis Neto, gets a warm welcome to international football as he is unceremoniously bundled over by Christian Benitez just outside the Portugal box. The hosts get the free kick and look to get the play going quickly.
Felipe Caicedo and Christian Benitez look to link-up on the edge of the area but the latter just went ahead of too early and Portugal get the free kick for an offside.
Terrific challenge from Reasco!! The ball is played into the feet of Nani inside the box and the Manchester United winger looks poised to smash a shot towards goal, but the Ecuadorian comes in with a superb challenge! Portugal want a penalty!
Joao Pereira drives down the right-hand side and looks to exchange a one-two with Moutinho but the Porto man's return pass is played straight to the feet of Valencia, who looks to get the ball up the park for Ecuador.
Ronaldo with the free kick from the left. The Portugal captain cracks a signature free kick into the box but the ball deflects off his own man, Moutinho and clears out of the area.
Terrific goalkeeping from Banguera!!! Veloso whips a wicked corner kick into the box and the Ecuador 'keeper punches the ball away from under the crossbar! That may have been going in! Great save!
COENTRAO!!! The Real Madrid man tries his luck from distance and rifles a shot towards goal but it goes a whisker by the post! Portugal almost respond immediately!
Assist Jefferson Montero
Goal Antonio Valencia
GOOOOOOAAAAAAL FOR ECUADOR!!! Portugal almost score but the South Americans break up the park!! Jefferson Montero bursts down the left and stands a cross to the back post, and Antonio Valencia nods into the empty net!! Portugal goalkeeper, Eduardo, was in no man's land!
We are under way!
There is a lot of attacking talent on show tonight, so let's see what both sides can come up with!
Ecuador have also drew two matches, against Uruguay and Venezuela, but defeated Chile 3-1.
Portugal are not in the best of form coming into the match this evening. The last three games have saw them draw with Gabon and Northern Ireland, and lose against Russia.
Ecuador (4-4-2): Banguera; Paredes, Erazo, Achilier, Bagui; Castillo, Noboa, Valencia, Montero; Benitez, Caicedo
Portugal (4-3-3): Eduardo; Pereira, Alves, Neto, Coentrao; Moutinho, Veloso, Meireles; Postiga, Nani, Ronaldo.
I'm Martin Macdonald, and I'll be taking you through the action this evening. Let's hope we get an entertaining match tonight!
