The Brazilian had next to nothing to do in the first half with Malaga getting just a single shot on goal. The second period provided him with a similarly, if not more, simple outing.
Made some bright runs forward to get at Sergio Sanchez and provided a brilliant assist for Moutinho's goal. He did well to keep a close eye on Joaquin and limit the impact the veteran could have from the right.
Pushed on frequently and did his part in ensuring that Isco was not given time and space in possession. His delivery from the right was not always brilliant but he was a valuable outlet.
The Argentine centre-back made some decent long passes up from the back, giving Martinez plenty to feed off. He kept things tight at the back in the second half and was unmoved by Malaga's powerful front two.
Was unfazed by the powerful Julio Baptista and refused to let the Brazilian get the better of him. He was calm at the back and did not make any hasty decisions, playing it simply out of defence.
The Russian was bright from the opening minute and soon warmed the gloves of Caballero with a decent strike. He held the ball well and added to the fluidity of his team's play. Looked a real danger around the edge of the box.
A good all-round performance from the Brazilian as he policed the midfield effectively, reading the play well and making some top challenges and interceptions. He was not shy of getting forward though and came close to a first-half tap in.
Always looked to turn and run when getting on the ball in the midfield. His ability to spray out long, accurate passes helped Porto to stretch Malaga with the use of their wingers. Made a great run and added a tidy finish for a vital second-half goal.
Linked with the forwards well, passing the ball up and chasing it quickly. His support was handy but he did not look to unlock the Malaga defence frequently enough.
The sought-after striker showed his ability to find space in even the tightest of defences time after time. He quietened down in the second half but was always lurking in dangerous areas.
Was fairly wasteful with possession during the early exchanges but soon proved to be a decent attacking threat. But for an Antunes tackle he could have tested Caballero and he also saw a header flash narrowly wide later on.
Although Porto got far more efforts on goal away than their opponents, Caballero remained untested by and large. He always looked assured between the posts, particularly with a strong defence in front of him.
The experienced defender orchestrated the Malaga defence brilliantly, ensuring that they remained resolute despite the fact that Porto enjoyed a far greater level of possession. Caught ball-watching as Moutinho slotted in the opener.
Made a couple of clumsy challenges but did not have a direct opponent for much of the game as Izmailov drifted in field. He made a key interception to keep out Martinez before the break but was also keen to attack.
The new signing had a decent night at left-back, refusing to be beaten by runners in the wide areas. He made a key tackle to stop Valera from testing Caballero in the 19th minute.
Struggled to track Martinez early on but soon made sure to share the workload with Weligton, and they worked in superbly in tandem. The Argentine dropped in behind to sweep up from long balls forward.
The Frenchman was unable to get his foot on the ball and link Malaga's defence to attack. He lacked focus in midfield and was often bypassed when Porto moved forward time after time.
Started brightly with a few infield runs from out on the right, but he was unable to use them to create anything. He soon faded into the background and failed to worry Porto as he lacked pace on the counterattack.
Did not see enough of the ball to be able to display the immense talent he possesses. He seemed wasted wide on the left, but even when he was brought into the match he was far from his typically inspirational self.

To his credit the on-loan striker tried to bring the ball under control and link with his team-mates, but his touch let him down a few too many times. He did not provide his side with a goal threat at all.
The powerful striker looked starved of game time as he struggled to have any kind of influence on the game. He may not have had much service, but he did not show any sort of initiative or energy in his movement.
Replaced Valera in the 58th minute and seemed to momentarily galvanise his team into action. He was unable to help unlock the stern Malaga defence and get his side another goal.
Brought on for Lucho in second-half stoppage time.
Came on for Izmailov in the 70th minute but was unable to utilise his pace in the closing stages.
