Three of the English sides were handed arguably favourable ties in the Champions League draw and will expect to progress to the last eight. Manchester City were handed the kindest match up, as they will face tournament outsiders Basel in the round of 16.
Pep Guardiola’s team are priced at 1/8 (1.13) with bet365 to reach the quarter-finals - which will be the least of Pep Guardiola's expectations - and City are now also the favourites for the competition at 3/1 (4.00) with the same firm.
Previous favourites Paris Saint-Germain have been drawn to face Real Madrid in what is surely the tie of the round, with the Ligue 1 leaders priced at 4/5 (1.80) to qualify, whilst the current holders available at evens (2.00).
If that isn’t the most mouth-watering clash, then Chelsea playing Barcelona is surely enough to take that title. With the second leg at the Nou Camp it will be a tall order for the Blues to get through, and that is why their odds of reaching the quarter-finals are 5/2 (3.50).
That will certainly be a tie that Lionel Messi will relish, having never scored against the London club in his eight matches against them, and he will hope to help his side progress - which they can be backed at 3/10 (1.30) to do.
Staying with an English team, Liverpool are in the knockout stages of Europe’s premier club competition for the first time since 2009 and will surely be delighted to have been drawn against Porto. The Reds are priced at 8/15 (1.53) to reach the next round, with Porto on offer at 6/4 (2.50).
Manchester United will also be confident of claiming a quarter-final berth after they were drawn with Sevilla; the Spanish Europa League specialists are 15/8 (2.88) to get through this tie, with Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils understandably a far shorter 2/5 (1.40) to reach the last eight.
Tottenham Hotspur face a much tougher route to the next round as they will play Juventus across two legs, although Mauricio Pochettino's men will be buoyed by the fact the Italian giants have lost in each of their last five knockout ties with English teams in Europe.
