M. Pinilla 43'
90' + 4'
It does not matter, as Palermo pick up maximum points against Genoa, winning 1-0 this evening. Pinilla with the only goal in the 43rd minute. The Rosanero are now back to winning ways. From the Renzo Barbera stadium, it is a good night from all of us at Goal.com. Hope you have enjoyed the match.
90' + 3'
Boakye looked up, saw himself in a heap of space, and cannoned his shot just wide of Sirigu's left post. Could have been a game-changer in the last minute.
90' + 2'
Toni isn't giving up, and is chasing every loose ball. He gives away the foul, and not happy, as he sits on top of Munoz, who was tracking him.
Four minutes of injury time to be played.
Goian is able to stop Toni from progressing near the looping ball, and Palermo move it up the other end of the field for a corner.
Miccoli swings it in, and Munoz rises above Ranocchia and headers just wide of the post.
First chance for Miccoli, who controls the ball, turning his way around, but fires his shot into a Genoa defender. Corner.
Genoa are pressing forward, looking for the equaliser, but it is Pastore on the break pushing forward. He has his captain on the left, but opts to not use him, and is dispossessed.
Yellow Card Javier Pastore
Pastore receives the first yellow card of the match, as he brings down Kaladze on the break.
The crowd are awaiting their captain's return, and give him a rapturous applause as he takes his first step onto the field!
Genoa's best opportunity of the match. What wonderful passing between Mesto, Toni and Veloso, which sees the Portuguese tee up a shot, but straight at Sirigu.
With plenty of players in the box, Rafinha decides to take on Balzaretti - as the ball is switched from the left to the right - but he cannot beat him and is lucky to win a throw-in.
Destro is somehow able to push forward past both Migliaccio and Cassani, but is shoved to the ground, and a free-kick is awarded.
Offside against Toni, but he looked to have been in line with Bovo when the ball was played into the middle.
Criscito's shot goes high and wide. Not a happy day for the Grifoni. He had time and space to bring it down, but couldn't get it on target.
Corner to Genoa...swung into the near post, but gotten away... A counterattack move is on for Palermo, as Ilicic has only Criscito to beat, but it is the Italian international who wins on this occasion.
Genoa are starting to look dangerous, especially on the edge of the area, as Mesto fires a shot just over the crossbar. They are now moving the ball around, looking for the space to be opened.
A defensive error by Genoa almost sees Pinilla capitalise on the mistake, but Eduardo claims it this time. Reminded me of Steven Gerrard's first goal against Napoli in the Europa League.
Boakye commits a tough foul on Pinilla, getting his foot caught. Has a sting in his right leg, but is okay and continues.
Corner to Genoa, as the cross comes in, it is Migliaccio who gets it away.
Corner to Palermo...and Toni almost allows the opposition to have a chance to score, as he mistimes his header.
Dainelli tries the trickery to get past Pinilla, and it does not work. it required a last-minute clearance from Rossi to make sore nothing dangerous happened.
PASTORE! Almost. Had a great chance to make it 2-0. It all started with Nocerino stealing the ball away from Rossi, advancing forward and finding his team-mate, who cannot slot the ball home.
Heavy knock on Zuculini by Bovo, as the referee quickly halts play and wants the medicos to come onto the field.
Great splitting pass by Mesto, as he looks to find Marco Rossi in the middle, but Balzaretti gets the ball away.
Mesto's foul was bordering on a yellow card, as he bundled Ilicic over.
Pinilla's shot from distance was only hopeful, but Pastore was calling for it.
Pinilla steals the ball and looks to try to play in his team-mate in Ilicic, but the pass is too hard.
Toni does the team thing, taking the long ball down, and offloading to Mesto, who in turn does the same to the advancing Criscito. The left-back tees up his shot, and it goes straight to Sirigu.
Balzaretti and Pinilla look to combine for a 1-2 pass, but the Chilean cannot return the ball to the left-back, and the chance is squandered.
Bacinovic aims the corner for the back-post, but no one is able to get on the end of it.
Corner to Palermo, as Pastore weaves his way through traffic to fire on goal, but it comes off a defender and over the bye-line.
Ilicic's first-time turn and shoot on goal sees it rebound off Moretti, and Criscito uses the rebound to push forward and counter.
Nocerino...great save by Eduardo, but offside says the linesman. Pastore played the midfielder in to space, but he could not finish off.
Almost a give-away by Palermo, as Toni was breathing down the neck of Cassani, almost capitalising on a loose pass.
And here we go in the second half!
Veloso on, Rudolf off.
The players are coming of their dressing rooms for the second half.
45' + 2'
And the referee says that the teams need a rest, and blows his whistle for half-time Palermo 1-0 Genoa. Mauricio Pinilla has caused headaches for the Genoa defence, and finally found the back of the net. Come back in 15 minutes for the second half.
45' + 1'
Palermo are just happy to hold onto the ball for the remaining minutes in the first half.
Two minutes of injury time to be played, says the fourth official.
Assist Javier Pastore
Goal M. Pinilla
BUT PINILLA IS NO LONGER FRUSTRATED ANYMORE. GOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL! Balzaretti finds Pastore, whose first-time flick allows Pinilla to run onto the ball and calmly slot it past Eduardo. 1-0.
Cassani 1-2 with Ilicic sees the right-back swing in an inch-perfect cross for the oncoming Pinilla, but he can only direct his header to Eduardo. Extremely frustrating for him, as he fly-kicks the post.
But as the fans applaud, the action still continues on the field, and Pastore is adjudged to have been in an offside position.
The crowd have seen Fabrizio Miccoli start to warm up on the sidelines, and they have reacted accordingly, giving him a generous round of applause.
Zuculini decides to test Sirigu with a long-range shot, but the ball loses its pace as it skips along the ground.
Balzaretto once again pushes forward along the left wing, looking to deliver a quality ball into the middle for his side, but not on this occasion, as it is cleared away by Dainelli.
Rafinha pushes forward, and with a flood of players surrounding him, delivers an early cross for Toni, who tries to glance the ball towards goal, but no luck on this occasion.
PINILLA! SO CLOSE! Perfectly worked move by both Bacinovic and Ilicic, with the former finding the latter in space, running onto the ball. Ilicic, in turn, spots Pinilla making a run through the middle with only one person to beat and squares the ball, but Pinilla's first-touch goes to the right of the post.
Toni is surrounded by three Palermo defenders, and somehow manages to squirm a ball past them all for the overlapping Mesto, but the linesman raises his flag for offside.
Mesto's cross-come-shot from the left sees Sirigu not quite claim the ball - only tap it away - and Toni was almost able to get onto the end of the ball.
Pinilla again is causing some difficulties for the Genoa defence. His attempted shot on goal sees two defenders make lunging tackles on the Chilean, and rebound the ball off their legs, and looping towards the top-right corner, but Eduardo saves the day - again.
Bovo stomps on Toni's foot, sending the former Italian international to the ground, clutching his right foot. Free-kick to the Grifoni...From the cross, it is a poor one, and nothing eventuates.
Criscito tries to link up with Toni on the edge of the Genoa area, but the forward cannot beat three Palermo defenders.
HIT THE POST! Palermo find the woodwork - again - and it is Pinilla again. Pastore floats a ball to the back-post from the left flank, and the Chilean rises above all and can only hit the woodwork with his header.
Mesto cuts the ball back into the middle for one of his team-mates, but both Rudolf and Toni are nowhere near the ball to capitalise on it.
FANTASTIC SAVE EDUARDO! Pinilla makes a perfect run forward and Pastore threads through a likewise pass, creating a one-on-one chance with Eduardo. The Chilean tries to round the Portuguese shot-stopper, but is unable to. Meanwhile, Ilicic was screaming for the ball to be squared to him, as he was open. Great chance!
Balzaretti again pushes forward on the left, and looks to send in another ball into the middle of the area, but no one is home for the Sicilians, easily gotten away.
Offside against Balzaretti, but there was only centimetres in it, as the winger was off and ready to swing a cross in for the Rosanero.
Dainelli stops Pastore from launching a counterattack by giving away a free-kick. The referee wasn't too pleased, and neither was the Argentine superstar.
Weak shot by Ilicic, as he could not properly connect with the ball, and Eduardo stops it comfortably.
HIT THE POST! Palermo are extremely unlucky not to have the lead in the match! The ball cannoned onto the post by Pinilla, as the striker got onto the end of Cassani's low cross from the right, but it was Rafinha who had to clear away the rebound.
The linesman has called a handball on Marco Rossi, who makes a darting run forward, beating Balzaretti. A dangerous move, but the right decision.
Toni manages to create some space for himself, but is forced onto his left foot, with the shot taking a deflection and straight to Sirigu, who has no trouble.
Balzaretti makes a strong run on the left, cuts inside and decides to wind up his right leg and fire a shot on his right, but it cannons off a defender and Eduardo claims it quite easily.
Splitting pass by Marco Rossi to find Mesto, who cuts the ball back for Luca Toni, but he cannot take on his opponent and get a shot off. The striker is jeered by the fans, as he is a former player.
Ilicic goes over the wall, but Eduardo is equal to the task, and holds onto the ball.
Free-kick to Ilicic, right on the very edge of the penalty area. What can the home side do early on?
Dario Dainelli is on the ground, holding his shoulder and receiving some attention. Went in for a sliding tackle, and has come off second-best.
Criscito's takes the switching ball on his chest, and his one-time touch turns into a deep cross, but no one is on the end of it.
Rafinha pushes forward and looks to get his range early on, firing across Sirigu's goal.
And here we go! The crowd are full of voice, and eager to see their team do well.
The players are out on the field, and getting ready to go. Not long now.
Stay tuned to Goal.com, as the match is set to begin in the next five minutes.
