Diego Costa 39', 61', 63'
90' + 5'
The game is over! Atletico Madrid claim an important victory! Kike Sola opened the scoring the first half, but Diego Costa equalised minutes before half-time. The Brazilian striker hit the hosts with a double salvo after the break and Jose Antonio Reyes missed a very soft penalty for the visitors. Los Colchoneros were given a late scare as Nekouman put Osasuna in striking distance with a superb penalty, but Atletico Madrid managed to hold on to their lead and were certainly helped by Sergio's sending off for a brutal foul on Diego Costa shortly before full-time. It is good night from me, Vasil Kotsev! Stay with us for our post-match materials. Join us in midweek for our live coverage of the Champions League! Bye, for now!
90' + 3'
Camunas again! The midfielder turned superbly with the ball on the left side of the box before chipping a pass for Lekic, but the striker just could not make contact!
90' + 2'
Camunas! So close! The attacker is released just outside the box and lets it fly right away, but his finish fizzled with of the left post!
Jose Antonio Reyes leaves the pitch for Paulo Assuncao. The ex-Real Madrid man did not have the best of games tonight.
Alvaro Cejudo seems to be appealing for a penalty, but on what grounds only he knows.
SERGIO IS SENT OFF! Barbaric challenge from the defender as he elbowed Diego Costa in the face as the two were tackling each other on the right, outside the penalty area.
Just what Tiago was hoping for is beyond me. Being part of the wall, handballed thinking he would hide in the referee's blind spot as Shojaei was blocking Fernandez Borbalan's view.
Penalty GoalJavad Nekounam
NEKOUNAM SENDS DAVID DE GEA THE WRONG WAY AND OSASUNA HALVE THE DEFICIT! Great penalty by the Iran international.
PENALTY FOR OSASUNA! Very curious decision from Tiago who handballs in the penalty box.
Yellow CardL. Perea
Luis Perea is booked after a clash with substitute Masoud Shojaei. He seems to have injured himself as well.
Yellow CardJavad Nekounam
Less than fifteen minutes to go and Atletico Madrid are in the driving seat. Diego Costa had a great game bagging a hat-trick with Diego Forlan watching from the bench.
Jose Luis Mendilibar is fuming as Tiago seems to have committed a foul deep in Atletico Madrid's box.
Very poor penalty as well ... Moments later Juanfran whips a cross from the right and Diego Costa is an inch too far to put the ball into the net.
Justice is served as Reyes sees his shot from the spot blocked by Ricardo in the lower right corner.
Things take turn for the worse as Monreal brings down Jose Antonio Reyes just outside the box and the referee points to the spot. Softest penalty ever, and I am not exaggerating.
Now Mario Suarez is brought down in the centre of the pitch. There have been way too many rough challenges here.
Three identical goals from Atletico Madrid and questions will be raised over Monreal's performance as all three goals came from his zone.
GOAL! Diego Costa the hat-trick hero! A carbon copy of the goal from two minutes ago as this time Mario Suarez released Diego Costa on the right side of the box, and the striker made it three with a delightful finish.
GOAL! GOAL! GOAL! Diego Costa completes the comeback! Atletico Madrid take the lead! Juanfran with the assist again! Reyes was robbed off the ball and the it fortunately fell to the ex-Osasuna man, who in turn released Costa, who made it three with a precise finish from the right side of the penalty area!
OH! HORRIBLE MISS BY JOSE ANTONIO REYES! The ex-Arsenal man was picked out just outside the six-yard box by Antonio Lopez, but saw his finish from inside the penalty area blocked and the ball went out for a corner kick on the left. This corner resulted in nothing.
Poor by Suarez as he is left with enough time and space to hit the ball on the volley from inside the penalty area semi-circle, but his finish flies over the bar and out for a goal-kick. He could and should have done better.
Yellow CardKike Sola
Kike Sola is booked for an ungentlemanly challenge on Luis Perea.
JUANFRAN! Was he held back? The midfielder was released just outside Osasuna's penalty area and it seems like he was fouled from behind by Sergio, but the referee did not buy that.
Stunning save by David De Gea! Soriano sent a superb header from inside the box, following a cross from a free-kick on the left. The goalkeeper reacted magnificently, punching the ball over the bar.
Raul Garcia and Nelson collide on the left wing and as a result the defender is receiving treatment on the sidelines. he is not seriously hurt, however.
Kike Sola tries to squeeze past Luis Perea and Godin, but is well close down and loses the ball on the left side of the box,
Osasuna start the second period ...
45' + 1'
The first half is over! Kike Sola and Diego Costa traded goals in an exciting game in Pamplona! How will take the three points tonight? Join us after the break to find out ...
Yellow CardManuel Ortiz Toribio
Lolo is booked for a dive as he tried to make the best of a crowded Atletico Madrid penalty area with Osasuna taking a free-kick on the right.
Osasuna look much more comfortable in the final minutes of the first half, and will be looking to add to their tally in the remaining time before half-time.
Godin is brought down by Kike Sola deep in Atletico Madrid's half. The striker could have received a booking here.
GOAL! Diego Costa draws the game level with a superb strike! Ex-Osasuna player Juanfran released the striker with a well-weighted ball, and the Lagarto born player made no mistake with only Ricardo to beat.
That set-piece resulted in nothing, however ...
Diego Costa tries to power his way into Osasuna's box, but Manuel Ortiz lunges superbly to clear the ball ahead of the striker for a corner-kick on the right.
That was a wonderful goal by Osasuna! Three quick passes completely neutralised Atletiço Madrid's defence. The finish was superb too as Kike slammed the ball under the bar from inside the box, leaving David De Gea with no chance.
GOAL! Kike Sola with the finish! The striker finished first-time from a cross by Alvaro Cejudo from the right to give the hosts a deserved lead!
Soriano wins a free-kick for Osasuna after a body-check by Mario Suarez in the centre of the pitch.
Osasuna are stepping up their game, and are looking very dangerous in attack ...
Jose Luis Mendilibar and Enrique Sanchez Flores are not the calmest of coaches and one can be sure that there are a lot of emotions in store for both of them tonight.
Horrible collision between Diego Costa and Ricardo sees both of them injured. The slippery ground certainly played a hand here as the two players clashed at great speed.
JUANFRAN! The midfielder was released deep in Osasuna's half, but Ricardo rushed to the ball and managed to collect it ahead of the ex-Real Madrid winger.
Replays show that Luis Perea committed a foul in the build-up to the attack, and could have conceded a penalty here.
OH, WHAT A DOUBLE BLOCK BY DAVID DE GEA! The goalkeeper found himself in a one-on-one with Soriano and denied him not once, but twice. Camunas tried to latch on to the ball, but was well blocked by Godin. Great save by the goalkeeper.
De Gea intervenes for the first time as he blocks a low, long-range Camunas shot.
Reyes tries an optimistic through-ball for Ujfalusi down the right wing, but the pass lacks power and is easily dealt with by Monreal.
Juanfran with a nice run on the right for Atletico Madrid, but sees a powerful low shot blocked by Sergio.
No real chances so far as both teams seems to have employed a careful approach to the game.
The game is a special occasion for Atletico Madrid midfielder Juanfran. The winger transferred to Los Colchoneros from Osasuna in the last transfer window.
Cejudo with a wonderful flick as he tries to bypass Godin, but the Uruguayan managed to get the upper hand as the two raced for the ball on the left wing, just outside Atletico Madrid's box.
Atletico the better team early on, with Tiago in particular looking very motivated for this game.
The first half begins ...
De Gea; Ujfalusi, Perea, Diego Godin, Antonio Lopez; Raul Garcia, Mario Suarez; Tiago, Juanfran, Jose Antonio Reyes; Diego Costa.
Osasuna: Ricardo; Nelson, Sergio, Manuel Ortiz, Monreal; Camunas, Patxi Punal, Nekouman, Soriano; Kike, Cejudo.
