The young goalkeeper showed early nerves as he failed to gather a corner kick and was fortunate his defence blocked Ibrahimovic’s effort on the line. Went on to make a string of excellent blocks, the best denying Menez when clean through, but was beaten by the attacker early in the second half.
Was not nearly so proactive down the left as Fofana down the left but this was likely a tactical decision made by his coach. When he did get forward, he was not afraid to have a shot at goal from range.
Read the game impressively in the heart of the Lyon defence, making a particularly good interception from Pastore that threatened to unhinge the home rearguard. Also made a crucial early clearance on his own line.
Has filled in the right-back role in an exemplary manner in recent weeks and looked very composed in possession once more. Got forward well to help the forwards and was rarely troubled at the back.
The young playmaker has enjoyed more productive games. Showed brief glimpses of his talent from open play but will be most noted for his dangerous set pieces in this encounter. A free kick just before the break cause particular problems.
Lyon’s pivot in the centre of the field was often left with too much to do as PSG’s wide players were typically narrow and were therefore tough to pin down. Tried to take the ball from his defenders regularly, though Lyon looked primarily to attack down the flanks.
Lucky to avoid a yellow card for an early tackle on Menez, the busy midfielder kept things simple in the centre of the park but moved the ball quickly and smartly. Withdrawn to make way for Lisandro with over an hour played.
Continued on the left side of midfield, where he has been deployed in each of the last three games. A technically-accomplished performance, though the former AC Milan man is clearly not a natural winger. Booked for an uncharacteristic challenge on Jallet.
Started due to Lisandro carrying a knock, the striker drew a save from Douchez with little more than a minute played following a fine header. Lacked vision at times and his errant passing meant that PSG were able to exert pressure on the hosts.
One of Lyon’s most highly-regarded young players, he showed no lack of confidence up against some world-class stars. An early shot swung dangerously in the air and needed some saving. An eager and promising performance from the youngster.
Featured due to Salvatore Sirigu’s on-going suspension, the ex-Rennes goalkeeper celebrated his first league victory with PSG on a historic evening. Kicked clear an awkward shot from Benzia in the first half but this was the most stretched he would be.
Looked slightly puzzled at times as to how to contain Gourcuff, who was anything but an orthodox winger. Struggled to read what his opposite number was doing and had a very limited offensive impact on this clash.
Showed a tendency to back off players at times and this meant that Douchez’s goal was unnecessarily threatened on occasion. Although he did not make any great mistakes, this was a somewhat untidy performance from the centre-back.
The pace and energy of Benzia caused the former Barcelona defender some trouble and he was forced into fouling the young attacker at the edge of his box after being caught out on one occasion. Was shown a yellow card for his troubles but used his experience well overall.
A very assured performance from the veteran Brazil defender, who used his experience to his advantage in this clash. Might have lacked the pace of the Lyon attackers but his strength was vital in containing the hosts.
A strong performance in the heart of the field, it was the Italy international’s physical attributes that were to the fore. Played a key role in winning the ball in the midfield as Menez struck the opening goal, with the Italy international providing the decisive pass. Took a clever first-half booking for the team as Lyon broke.
An understated performance from the holding midfielder, who played a significant role in keeping Grenier quiet. Intercepted many balls and was quickly onto anything loose around the PSG box while showing dynamism to get forward and support the attack when the time arose.
After a slow start to the game, the Argentine became an increasing threat. Although many of his passes missed their target, the thinking behind what he did with the ball was intelligent. Nearly doubled PSG’s lead with a near-post flick that was saved.
Worked typically hard for his side and was often found to be back tracking Benzia but on this occasion the Argentine had only a limited impact on this game in an offensive capacity.
Nearly on the scoresheet after only three minutes as he had a first-time shot cleared from the line having already drawn a save from the goalkeeper with a deft chip. Faded thereafter but played a role in the goal with a direct dribble.
Can sometimes be peripheral to games but on this occasion the attacking midfielder was regularly involved and struck the opening goal with a crisp finish. Took some heavy challenges from the Lyon defence but did not let that deter him. PSG’s greatest offensive threat.
