  • 90' + 4'
A scrappy, yet efficient performance by Didier Deschamps' men, but what a result that could prove to be. That 1-0 win has seen Marseille leapfrog Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.
  • 90' + 4'
And there's full time! Marseille go top of Group F!
  • 90' + 3'
And it's the hosts on the counter now, and showing a sense of urgency. Abdoun, who's now switched flanks is closed down well.
  • 90' + 2'
Good defending by N'Koulou, freekick Marseille's way. Late drama here in Athens. But it has been a decent match overall. Scrappy, but moments of brilliance has tipped the match in OM's favour.
  • 90' + 1'
    Red Card Rod Fanni
  • 90' + 1'
Marseille reduced to 10 men, and four minutes of injury time added on.
  • 90'
    Yellow Card Avraam Papadopoulos
  • 90'
    Yellow Card Jordan Ayew
  • 90'
Papadopoulous is booked, and ROD FANNI HAS BEEN SENT OFF!! Straight red, he's only been on for a few minutes. Studs up, good decision.
  • 89'
Bit of a melee there. And Jordan Ayew is in some pain here. Remember, the visitors have made all three changes.
  • 87'
Corner for Olympiakos. Straight in the hands of Mandanda.
  • 86'
    Yellow Card Morgan Amalfitano
  • 85'
Closing stages now in Athens, and Marseille are on the offensive. Amalfitano booked for a lunge on Torossidis.
  • 83'
Abdoun is penalised for a foul on Traore. Seven minutes for the visitors to see this one out.
  • 82'
Jordan Ayew launches an effort from distance, and Costanzo doesn't even bother. Well wide.
  • 81'
    SubstitutionBenoît Cheyrou Rod Fanni
  • 81'
Final change for Marseille, and again it is another defensive one. Rod Fanni replaces Benoit Cheyrou, who has been impressive in midfield tonight. Fanni is expected to slot in a five-man defence.
  • 79'
Good cross again from the right hand side, and again it is without a finish worthy of the delivery. Abdoun drags his effort well wide. An element of frustration form the hosts, and OM have a player down.
  • 78'
Premature screams for a penalty, but N'Koulou's barge on Djebbour was right in dispossessing the Algerian. Djebbour had seconds before embarked on a mazy run on the right wing, catching out Traore.
  • 76'
    SubstitutionLucho González Charles Kaboré
  • 76'
Marseille make their second change of the night, and it is goalscorer Lucho coming off in favour of midfielder Charles Kabore - a more defensive-minded change in order to close out the game.
  • 75'
WHAT A MISS! Djebbour really should've made it 1-1, and the fans vent their frustation. A beautiful cross in from the right sees the Algerian get behind Diawara, and instead he volleys over the bar with Mandanda beaten.
  • 73'
Amalfitano is booked for a challenge on Holebas. The visitors are showing some promise, but will need to keep their defensive unit strong in the last 17 minutes or so if they are to seal a morale-boosting win.
  • 72'
Holebas takes the free-kick, and the wall does its job well as it deflects for a corner, which is wasted.
  • 71'
    Yellow Card Jérémy Morel
  • 71'
Disgusting really by the Olympiakos fans. Lasers being shone on Steve Mandanda, and referee Pedro Proenca. Free-kick in a dangerous position
  • 69'
Free-kick to the hosts, taken quickly by Ibagaza. Marseille hold their own for a second, before Morel fails to clear, instead opting to pass the ball. Jeremy Morel is booked after bringing down Modesto.
  • 68'
    SubstitutionLoïc Remy Jordan Ayew
  • 68'
Jean II Makoun replaces Ljubomir Fejsa, and Ariel Ibagaza replaces David Fuster. That closes out the Olympiakos changes. Meanwhile, Loic Remy makes way for Jordan Ayew.
  • 67'
    SubstitutionLjubomir Fejsa Jean II Makoun
  • 67'
    SubstitutionDavid Fuster A. Ibagaza
  • 66'
The hosts have a man down, but that doesn't put Cheryou off. A fantastic ball to Remy sees him challenge Mellberg and fails.
  • 66'
Abdoun turns Traore well, but the final pass to Djebbour is lacking direction as Mandanda gracefully picks up the loose ball. The hosts need to find some attacking instinct, as they've been declining in performance for a while yet.
  • 63'
Fantastic shot by Cheyrou. Swerves a lot, and the 30 yard effort is saved brilliantly by Costanzo. From the resulting corner, it is missed by everybody, and Diarra really could've and should've made it 2-0.
  • 61'
    Yellow Card Kevin Mirallas
  • 61'
Diarra dispossessed by Djebbour, has happened often this match. However, it works into Marseille's favour with Remy taking on Papadopolous with the Greek defender winning that encounter. Mirallas vents his frustration and earns a yellow card.
  • 57'
Olympiakos are struggling defensively, allowing OM to attack with consumate ease at the moment. Amalfitano glides into space, with the midfielder searching out a cross to Remy, but in the end finds its way to Costanzo.
  • 56'
Amalfitano's cross goes straight to Costanzo, with no Marseille player in the box.
  • 55'
    SubstitutionFrancisco Yeste Rafik Zoheir Djebbour
  • 55'
Yeste with the freekick, and it is dealt with by Diarra. The hosts' support hasn't been silenced one bit, and it is still absolutely hostile inside Karaiskakis. Meanwhile Rafik Djebbour replaces Francisco Yeste.
  • 53'
Marseille are again on the front foot as the midfield brilliantly searches out chances. Cheyrou's ball to Morel on the flank isn't as perfect as that of moments ago. Encouraging.
  • 51'
    Assist Jérémy Morel
  • 51'
    Goal Lucho González
  • 50'
GOAAALL!!!! MARSEILLE TAKE THE LEAD! Superb run by Jeremy Morel on his European debut, the run is perfect as he evades his marker. Lucho Gonzalez is on hand to direct the ball past Costanzo, and L'OM have the breakthrough!
  • 49'
Torossidis fails to control the ball sufficiently, and it's Marseille on the offensive now. Good interlining play between the midfield, casually knocking it about before Papadopolous clears the ball.
  • 48'
The Kikkoni are looking decent enough for a side still yet to start their league campaign this season. Diawara hoofs the ball to safety after Mellberg's searching ball threatened to find Mirallas.
  • 47'
No changes to report over the interval. And immediately, Olympiakos surge up the field. Cheyrou is fouled by Abdoun.
  • 46'
Marseille get us underway in the second period. Can they grab the lead?
  • The teams are out in Athens. The second half is imminent.
  • It's been an equal first half, with the best of the action coming from Loic Remy's superb break and the number 11 was unfortunate to see his shot come back off the post. Second half not far away in Athens.
  • Pedro Proenca calls time on the first half. Olympiakos 0-0 Olympique Marseille.
  • 45' + 1'
Yeste's freekick is saved well by Mandanda and it's the last of the action in a competitive first half.
  • 45'
One minute added on at the end of the first half.
  • 43'
A freekick is taken well by Cheyrou. Amalfitano's header is poor and it goes onto the roof of the net. The other match in this group from Signal Iduna Park, it's Borussia Dortmund 0-1 Arsenal.
  • 41'
Lucho sprays the ball to Amalfitano on the right, but the former Lorient man can't chase the ball down.
  • 39'
What do you make of the first fourty or so minutes folks? Have OM been disappointing, or is it more of an equal game. Send me your messages via Twitter to @mohammedali_93 and I'll put them up.
  • 38'
MIRALLAS! Much more than a threat against L'OM. Bamboozles a few defenders with his trickery, but again it's a tame shot from outside the box which Mandanda saves easily.
  • 37'
REMY!! OFF THE POST!! Brilliant counter by Deschamps' men, and it sees Remy sweep past the defence on the left. After cutting in, he shoots from a tight ankle, and sees his shot strike the left post.
  • 35'
Marseille are getting closer, and a nice cross from the left finds the head of Cheyrou who blazes over. The number 7 has certainly been the vital cog in the midfield
  • 31'
MIRALLAS! Great run by Yeste, but the Belgian international got into space and shot wide from 15 yards. Could've at least tried to get past one of the centre-backs.
  • 29'
Lovely ball in by Abdoun, but Diarra's last ditch header away has cleared the threat. Much more of a defensive performance by L'OM in the last few moments. Both sides are pressing well.
  • 28'
Abdoun does well to get past Azpilicueta, but runs the ball out of play. Nice footwork from the winger, he is looking lively.
  • 27'
Oh no. Rushed effort by Lucho Gonzalez. Amalfitano does well to get past his marker, and after laying the ball to the Argentine international, he drags his effort wide.
  • 25'
CHEYROU! Offside! Marseille in the ascendancy, and it is telling! Brilliant run from the midfielder, his cut back isn't dealt with brilliantly, and after the ball finds its way back to him, he is flagged up. Close.
  • 24'
Cheyrou! The ball is headed in the path of the midfielder after Amalfitano's cross, and his volley clears the bar. Always rising.
  • 23'
Modesto penalised for a foul on Remy - the OM man had got to the ball first before being hauled down. A speculative shot by Morel is saved well by Costanzo. Getting interesting this one.
  • 21'
Close for Marseille, but not close enough. A string of passes in the final third is lacking the killer touch and the defence scramble away. Should've tucked in a shot at least.
  • 18'
MIRALLAS!! Good effort by the Belgian. Mirallas cuts into his right foot after evading the tackle of Diawara, and hits an effort straight at Mandanda. Lucho is on the break, but with Amalfitano ahead, they are both pegged back for offside.
  • 17'
The visitors are now settling into their rhythym, keeping posession and constructing chances well.
  • 14'
Amalfitano links well with Azpilicueta, with the latter spraying the ball to Cheyrou who strikes a clean 30 yard effort which Costanzo saves well. Immediately on the break, the hosts' attack OM with Mirallas flagged offside - a very late call by the assistant.
  • 12'
Fejsa is penalised for a foul on Lucho. The resulting freekick sees Cheyrou loft the ball high in the air, but Modesto reads it well to nullify the threat.
  • 11'
And again, Olympiakos get in behind Diawara and Morel. Yeste is causing problems out wide on the left, with Abdoun again adjudged to be in an offside position. Could've so easily been 2-0 to Ernesto Valverde's men.
  • 10'
It's Marseille's turn to attack the hosts, but again another freekick punctuates the attacking flow. The setplay is played in, with the defence holding sway. Amalfitano's first-time cross goes into the side-netting.
  • 8'
Gaps are rprevalent in the Marseille defence, and they must be happy that the ball has trickled for a goal-kick. The high-line is breached by Yeste and Modesto who link well, but fail to control the ball. Diarra's disposession of the ball, almost fatal.
  • 6'
Flow of the game has been slowed down after that tense start for both sides. Olympiakos hit on the break meanwhile, The ball is in the net, but a foul on Traore means the Kikkoni's goal won't stand. Cue the hostile reaction from the stands!
  • 4'
It's another corner for OM, with Mellberg heading away. Alo Diarra meanwhile draws a foul
  • 3'
Lofted ball in for Abdoun who is flagged offside. Tense start here in Athens!
  • 2'
Freekick to Olympiakos after a rash challenge from the OM defence. It's swung in by Yeste, with Diawara heading cleanly away.
  • 2'
CHANCE FOR MARSEILLE!! Ahh, almost a dream goal for the visitors. Corner is swept in, Diawara's header is just over the bar!
  • 2'
Straight from the kick-off Lucho Gonzalez feeds the ball to Valbuena which almost catches out a sluggish Kikkoni defence. Azpilicueta's long throw is headed behind from a corner.
  • 1'
Kick off here in Athens. Olympiakos in red, Marseille in their blue away kit.
  • The teams are out to a deafening roar in Athens. THAT Champions League anthem now blaring out throughout the stadium. Excitement building, the tension is palpable.
  • Tonight's referee is from Portugal. Pedro Proenca, an established referee, took the whistle for last year's semi-final second leg which saw Man Utd run out 4-1 winners against Schalke.
  • Remember to send me your thoughts via Twitter to @mohammedali_93 with the hashtag #championsleague. Can either side qualify from Group F? Or will Arsenal and Dortmund prove to be far more difficult opponents. I'd like to know your thoughts, and will put the best ones up.
  • Ernesto Valverde's side return to European football's premier competition after a one year break. The last time they qualified, they went through to the last 16 before being beaten by Bordeaux. 2010-11 was a mixed year for L'OM, as they secured convincing wins over Chelsea, Spartak Moscow and a record-breaking 7-0 win over Zilina before suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat to eventual finalists Man Utd. Can they go one better?
  • For L'OM, the welcome break of top class European action couldn't have come any sooner. Didier Deschamps' men have struggled in Ligue 1 so far this season, drawing three and losing two of their first five league games. Mathieu Valbuena makes the bench after picking up an injury in the side's 1-0 defeat to Rennes at the weekend. Andre Pierre Gignac and Andre Ayew both failed late fitness tests and miss out altogether. Djimi Traore, winner of the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool makes his OM debut. Jeremy Morel and Morgan Amalfitano also get their first taste of Champions League, and indeed European debuts.
  • What do you make of that lot folks? Olympiakos, who have not played a competitive match this season field a reasonably strong side. The Greeks have been forced to wait to begin their Superliga campaign after their first two opponents were demoted due to the match-fixing scandal engulfing domestic football.
  • Team News from Athens: OLYMPIAKOS: Costanzo, Papadopulous, Mellberg, Holebas, Torosidis, Fejsa, Modesto, Fuster, Abdoun, Yeste, Mirallas. MARSEILLE: Mandanda, Azpilicueta, Nkoulou, Traore, Morel, Diawara, Diarra, Cheyrou, Lucho, Amalfitano, Remy.
  • I'm Mohammed Ali as always, and I'd like to know your thoughts surrounding tonight's match at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Greece. Remember, you can send me your messages via Twitter to @mohammedali_93 with the hashtag #championsleague. Lovely.
