  • I'm Alex Moretto and I'd like to thank you all for joining me today at St. James' Park. Good bye!
  • A late Mathieu Flamini own goal at the Emirates means Arsenal will have to settle for a point, pulling Everton to within six points of the final Champions League spot with a game in hand.
  • FULL-TIME: NEWCASTLE 0-3 EVERTON. The visitors leave little doubt in a match they dominated from start to finish. Roberto Martinez insists their Champions League hosts are alive and well, and they just may be with performances like that. Newcastle will look to move on quickly from this, and will hope to have striker Loic Remy back in the fold when they travel to Southampton on Saturday.
  • 90' + 3'
Lee Mason has a look at his whistle, and decides enough is enough! It's an emphatic win for the Toffees, their fourth straight victory in the Premier League.
  • 90' + 2'
Into the second of three minutes of added time now. Everton passing it around, as both teams are ready to see this come to a close, both for very different reasons.

DEULOFEU! Incredible stuff from the Spaniard! He's been absolutely unstoppable tonight. Another superb run from Deulofeu takes him past the last defender, but Lukaku just can't get on the end of his pass across the face of goal.
  • 88'
GOAL! Well, it's all over now. Deulofeu once again proving a menace to deal with for Newcastle. He gets into the box and draws all sorts of attention before passing off for Lukaku. The striker lays it off for Leon Osman who riffles his shot into the top corner. No chance for Krul there.

All is not lost yet for Newcastle. Only Manchester City (six) have scored more goals in the 90 minute or later this season in the league than Magpies (four).
  • 84'
Newcastle continue to apply the pressure without any success. Everton break forward on a counter and Deulofeu gets in behind the defence, before opting to have a shot from a poor angle instead of cutting it back for Lukaku.

  • 82'
Ross Barkley comes off to a thunderous applause from the traveling fans. His opening goal for Everton will likely be on highlight shows for the rest of the week.
  • 80'
CISSE!! Newcastle with a bit of life to them now, push forward in numbers. Anita sends in a wonderful ball for Cisse, but Howard dives across to turn his header aside. Great job by the American shot-stopper to keep this at 2-0.
  • 78'
ANITA!! Hatem Ben Arfa with a magical run in from the left, beats three Everton defenders before putting it on a platter for Vurnon Anita. The former Ajax midfielder rushes his shot and puts it wide! That was the chance for Newcastle to pull one back, but it's not taken!

Dummett has had a number of chances to send a cross into the box, but is lacking in quality. He isn't alone, as every ball played into the box is seemingly met by an Everton defender. The hosts are running out of time here.
  • 73'
LUKAKU! Everton are two goals up, and looking the likelier to score the next one at the moment. The Belgian takes a pass and charges past Williamson with a nice step-over, but can't beat Krul with his powerful drive.
  • 71'
Barry, McCarthy and Osman doing a fantastic job of keeping Newcastle out of the attacking third. The three of them are sitting behind the ball, winning tackles and providing good outlet passes to keep Everton in possession. Newcastle seem to be dying out a bit at the moment.
  • 69'
STAT ATTACK: A win for Everton would be their fourth consecutive victory in the league, something they haven’t done since March of 2008.
  • 67'
Another corner now for the hosts, but they haven't managed to put them to use so far today. This time it's crossed in for Coloccini, who gets his head to the ball but can't keep it down as it flies over the bar.
  • 65'
Newcastle continue to commit men forward, but the Toffees are defending very well at the moment, keeping the hosts to the outside, and giving them no clean looks at goal.

  • 63'
Everton just doing what they can to slow the pace of the game now. Newcastle are aggressively searching for a goal, but the visitors don't want to make this any closer than it needs to be.
  • 60'
GOUFFRAN! It's an incredible hit from the Frenchman, who took a lofted pass from Anita and connected with it in mid-air, smacking it towards goal. Valiant effort from the winger, but it flies a couple feet over the bar. Some good pressure from the hosts, but nothing comes of it.
  • 58'
SubstitutionLuuk de Jong Hatem Ben Arfa
  • 58'
There will be no first Premier League goal for De Jong today, as he's taken off for Hatem Ben Arfa. The Frenchman is much more familiar with Cisse, and may be able to provide him with some better service as Newcastle search for a way back into this game.
  • 57'
TIOTE! Leon Osman loses out in midfield, and Tiote takes a few strides forward before unleashing a rocket of a strike. Howard takes no chances as his strong hands put it over for a corner kick.
  • 55'
STAT ATTACK: Romelu Lukaku has scored four goals in four Premier League appearances against Newcastle.
  • 53'
GOOOOOOOAL!!! It's been coming, really! Deulofeu makes easy work of Dummett once again, who is getting no help defensively from Gouffran. The Spaniard races past the left-back and crosses low for Lukaku who just gets a touch of it to put it past Krul and into the back of the net.

Again it's Deulofeu, who's been a bit of a nightmare for Dummett today. The Spaniard does well to get by the defender, but a good recovery from Dummett allows him to slide in and just block the cross.
  • 49'
First chance falls to Everton. Deulofeu receives a pass from McCarthy and, being as direct a player as he is, runs straight at Dummett. He gets around the left-back before being challenged by Coloccini. The ball falls kindly for Osman at the top of the box, but he rather uncharacteristically fails to connect and Newcastle relieve the pressure.
  • 47'
John Stones had 10 stitches during the break! He's back out for the second half, however, with a nice bandage wrapped around his head.
  • 46'
Everton kick off this second half at St. James' Park, a goal to the good, moving from right to left.
  • Everton midfielder Gareth Barry has won his last seven matches against Newcastle.
  • Newcastle substitute Stephen Taylor made his debut ten years ago today.
  • Luuk de Jong is looking for his first goal, having played eight games since his arrival in the January transfer window.
  • Here's some fun player stats for you as we await the second half...
  • HALF-TIME: NEWCASTLE 0-1 EVERTON. The visitors have the lead through a superb run and finish from Ross Barkley. After dominating the opening 30 minutes, Newcastle have come on strong toward the end of the half, but can't find their quality in attack. The hosts have been struggling to score without Loic Remy, and their task is made even harder against an Everton team who have conceded the third fewest goals this season.
  • 45' + 1'
The whistle sounds after just one minute of injury time, as we've reached half-time here at St. James' Park.
  • 45'
Deulofeu gets into the box and takes on Coloccini. He sidesteps his man, and tries to whip his shot across the face of goal, looking for a deflection. Krul makes the decision to let it go, and it's a good decision as it flies harmlessly wide.
  • 43'
Newcastle try to apply the pressure on Everton while Stones is attended to on the sidelines, but are lacking quality in attack. A free kick is whipped into the box, and Baines lets it run behind for a goal kick.
  • 41'
OUCH! Slight delay now as the medical staff is out to attend to John Stones, with his face covered in blood! It's a nasty gash, that looks to be coming from just above his eye. De Jong and Stones clashed heads in the box, a very brave play from the defender who came diving in to break up a cross.
  • 40'
Appeals for a penalty as Baines drags down Cisse as a ball is crossed into the box. Nothing is given and Everton break with numbers on the counter. Barkley looks to beat his man, but stumbles over the ball as the attack fizzles out.
  • 38'
Everton seem to be lacking their killer instinct at the moment. They aren't nearly as effective in possession, rushing their passes under Newcastle pressure and turning it over far too often, something we didn't see through the opening 25 minutes.
  • 36'
Fantastic defending from Stones. Cisse tries a bit of trickery outside the box, and is able to run past his marker, but Stones just stays with his man, sliding in at the vital moment to block his cross. It's another corner for Newcastle, this one again cleared first time by Everton.
  • 34'
CISSE! Anita and De Jong link-up wonderfully just outside the box, before the midfielder sets up Cisse. He gets into a dangerous position, but is swarmed by defenders, and his shot takes a deflection, winning the hosts a corner.
  • 32'
Newcastle finally showing signs of life. They work the ball into the attacking third to Gouffran, who runs at the defence, but sends his pass to Cisse too long and Howard is able to collect.
  • 30'
STAT ATTACK: Barkley's opener broke a stretch of 340 minutes without an away goal for Everton.
  • 28'
Everton are so patient on the ball, picking their passes well and judging just when to advance. Barry switches the play to Deulofeu, who lays it off for Barkley. The young midfielder picks out Lukaku, who sends in Osman on goal, but Williamson slides in to block his effort as it rolls behind for yet another Everton corner.
  • 26'
The hosts finally get some possession of their own, but seem to be lacking creativity in the attacking third. Cisse and De Jong try to link up but it's sniffed out far too easily. De Jong then goes down, rather ambitiously looking for a penalty, but Lee Mason immediately waves it off.
  • 24'
Everton relentless here! Deulofeu now shows his skill, beating Dummett and Coloccini with some fine dribbling, before Tiote races in to make a tackle. The Toffees refuse to give up possession at the moment.
  • 22'
    GoalRoss Barkley
GOOOOOOOOOOAAAL!!! It's an absolutely scrumptious run from Barkley! Incredible pace and skill from one of England's rising stars. He gets the ball before the half-way line, and charges at the defence. He uses Lukaku as a decoy, races up the pitch, cuts aside two defenders and fires into the top corner from six yards out. Brilliant stuff from Barkley!
  • 20'
It's all Everton at the moment. Newcastle are growing frustrated with their inability to win the ball back, and Tiote goes hard into the back of Barry who wins a free kick just to the left of the box. Baines delivers, but Williamson heads away.
  • 18'
LUKAKU!! Leon Osman sends in the Belgian with an exceptional ball, just splitting the two central defenders. Lukaku takes it well, but can't beat the left foot of Krul. Fantastic save from the Dutchman!
  • 17'
The visitors look very confident in possession, making it difficult for Newcastle to win it back with their crisp passing. Osman wins yet another corner for Everton, but Distin's weak header is caught with ease by Tim Krul.
  • 15'
McCarthy works Dummett now down the right. His tenacity keeps the play alive, before finding Deulofeu who does well to win a corner. Baines delivers, but it's cleared. Everton retain possession and now Lukaku wins the Toffees a corner.
  • 13'
Osman does very well to outwork Dummett down near the touchline and deliver a pass into the box for Lukaku. The Belgian has Barkley screaming for a pass, but Coloccini dispossesses the striker before he can pull it back. Threatening move from Everton but nothing comes of it.
  • 11'
STAT ATTACK: Papiss Cisse's 94th minute winner against Crystal Palace on Saturday was his first goal from open play in over 11 months.
  • 9'
Yanga-Mbiwa and Sissoko link up nicely along the right. The midfielder makes a good run, and tries to send in Cisse, but he mistimes his run and is called on the offside. A bit eager there from the striker, who had no reason to get a head start there.
  • 7'
Things have started to settle after an extremely lively start. Cisse mishandles a long ball forward and concedes a throw. Everton take it quickly, and boot it up the pitch, but this time it's Deulofeu who can't bring it down. Both teams sloppy with their passing thus far.
  • 5'
Everton just starting to settle in as they push forward and win a corner of their own. Deulofeu delivers to Barry at the back post, but he misfires and Coloccini is just able to put it behind for another corner. This time Baines delivers but Howard is out to collect.
  • 3'
GOUFFRAN! It's a real positive start from the hosts who earn a quick corner through Luuk de Jong. The ball comes into the box, and after Howard saves the original Cisse shot, it falls for Gouffran inside the six yard box. He turns and fires but it's straight at a defender and cleared! Glorious opportunity for the hosts inside five minutes.
  • 1'
Newcastle get us underway! The hosts are wearing their black and white shirts, moving right to left. Everton are sporting their royal blue tops, looking for their first away win in the Premier League since before Christmas.
  • Mike Jones, the referee originally in charge of the match, has pulled out due to injury, so Lee Mason has stepped in as replacement. The teams have taken to the pitch - we're about to get started here at St. James' Park.
  • STAT ATTACK: Everton are unbeaten in their last four league matches against Newcastle (3W, 1D), scoring ten goals over that span.
  • Steven Pienaar is out with an ankle injury that is expected to keep him out of the team until mid-April. Roberto Martinez hinted at Phil Jagielka's return, insisting the defender was fully recovered from an ankle injury. Despite these claims, he is not in the team today and perhaps being rested for Sunday's trip to Craven Cottage.
  • Newcastle continue to be without suspended manager Alan Pardew, leading scorer Loic Remy and defender Mathieu Debuchy. The Magpies have scored just one goal this season in their seven matches without Loic Remy.
  • EVERTON SUBS: Robles, McGeady, Mirallas, Naismith, Garbutt, Alcaraz, Browning.
  • EVERTON XI (4-2-3-1): Howard; Coleman, Stones, Distin, Baines; Barry, McCarthy; Osman, Barkley, Deulofeu; Lukaku.
  • NEWCASTLE SUBS: Ben Arfa, Gosling, Haidara, Elliot, Marveaux, Shola Ameobi, S. Taylor.
  • NEWCASTLE XI (4-4-2): Krul; Yanga-Mbiwa, Williamson, Coloccini, Dummett; Sissoko, Anita, Tiote, Gouffran; De Jong, Cisse.
  • The teams have been announced, so let us have ourselves a look at today's starting line-ups:
  • Roberto Martinez believes his Everton side have one final push left for them as they desperately try and work their way into the Champions League places. The Toffees currently sit eight points back of Arsenal for fourth place, with a game in hand on the Gunners who are also in action today against Swansea City. The odds may be stacked against them, but it hasn't stopped Roberto Martinez from dreaming of what could be.
  • Newcastle are a bit of a longshot to qualify for Europe this season, but the gap is just small enough to keep them motivated for the time being. Their struggles without Loic Remy have been well documented, and the Magpies are up against a hungry Everton side who come in having won three straight Premier League matches.
