Made an absolutely pivotal stop from Destro after just three minutes. Had he not done so it could have been a very different game, so a lot is owed to him.
Napoli looked most vulnerable down his flank throughout the game but he also did a good job of the supporting the forwards at the other end.
His judgement was not always of the highest quality, particularly as he played Ljajic onside early on. However, he was impressive in the air.

The Brazilian did not stick tight to Higuain and struggled to track runners through the centre, while his distribution from the back was also poor.
Was perhaps lucky not to be sent off following a late challenge on Mertens midway through the first half. He lacked commitment while walking a tightrope thereafter.

Found it difficult for much of the game in an unfamiliar position and he also failed to display his quality at the other end with a number of poor deliveries.
The Dutchman was industrious in midfield but failed to link to the attackers frequently enough. His dismissal brought an end to any potential comeback.
D. De Rossi

The striker was denied by Reina inside three minutes and it was his best chance of the game. He did not get the ball in areas where he could cause damage.

An inconsistent performance from the Ivorian as he showed moments of brilliance, as well as incompetence, with his end product lacking on the night.
Replaced Torosidis in the 49th minute and added a decent attacking outlet on the right.
Brought on for Ljajic in the 56th minute but was unable to offer anything different.
Came on for Pjanic in the 62nd minute but did not have the positive impact on the game Garcia would have been hoping for.
