M. De Sanctis
Had little to do in the first-half. His diving save on the half-hour mark was a highlight of the evening. Got a crucial touch on Cambiasso's volley to tip it on to the crossbar. Didn't get close to any penalties which brings down his mark.
Dominated Eto'o who had drifted left for most of the second half and made one crucial tackle, that if missed would probably have resulted in the Inter striker scoring. Even managed a couple of lung bursting runs as the game went on.
Had a good battle with Pandev, but found himself wanting when Maicon made his attacking forays.
Fairly anonymous for the first 80 minutes of the match, but came alive when everyone started to tire. Even had a good opportunity to score in extra-time. Converted his penalty.
Had a yellow card shown to him for bringing down Pandev in full-flight. Generally did well to keep the likes of Eto'o and Pandev quiet. Dominated aerially and as Napoli poured forward made several crucial interceptions. Had one great chance to score, but chested the ball towards goal.
The left-back got the better of Maicon in the first-half, setting up Cavani's offside goal. Taken off for Zuniga in the second half.
Sat deep for most of the match and tussled with Thiago Motta, giving the Brazilian an accidental knock in the chin. Mopped up numerous stray passes from Inter and provided a platform for those in front of him.
Found some room in behind Chivu which he exploited. Had an excellent chance to put Napoli ahead late in the game, but shot straight at Castellazzi.
Dominated the midfield, had much the better of Cambiasso and Thiago Motta especially in the second half. Helped his team-mates in attack as well.
Dangerous as always making runs along the left, and looking to combine well with the likes of Cavani and Dossena. Missed the crucial penalty which cost the Partenopei the match.
Dangerous this evening, but timed his runs a tad early. Had a goal chalked off for offside early on. Never gave up but faded a little after Lucio's introduction.
The busier of the two goalkeepers this evening. Had several key saves to make, and did well to keep the scoreline at 0-0. Did let Zuniga's penalty squirm under his body though.
Kept Cavani generally quiet for the match, only allowing him one or two half-chances to score. Went off with a shoulder injury in the second half.
One of his quieter matches. He lost out in the middle to Gargano and misplaced a few passes during the opening moments.
Was beaten by Lavezzi a number of times, and his lack of pace was shown up by the Argentinian. Did make some good interceptions and was generally tidy on the ball.
Served a quality ball for Cambiasso to volley, but was beaten by Dossena on the night, as the former Liverpool player got the better of the Brazilian. Ventured forward more as the game progressed but was pinned back by Zuniga during the latter stages.
Wonderful chance to score late in the first-half, as he drifted forward from a corner. Had Maggio's number as he was hardly seen in the first-half. Took a couple of knocks to the head but battled on and scored the winning penalty.
Wonderful chance to give the Nerazzurri the lead in the 40th minute but timed his volley straight at De Sanctis. Found life difficult against Hamsik who drifted from right to left.
Made some good blocks, but seem unsure of his role. Dropped too deep at times allowing Gargano room to get forward.
Played a gallant match, providing an attacking option and being strong when tracking back. His injury cut short his performance.
Deceived us a little with a bright start, but his star faded from then on. Made the wrong decision time and time again, had an effort that ballooned over the bar in extra-time leaving his team-mates frustrated.
Some awful finishing, barely tested De Sanctis. He never held the ball up at all in the second period and failed to test Campagnaro at all.
- M. Gianello
- Emilson Cribari
- F. Santacroce
Came on in 70th minute, and almost took Maicon out of the match. Had a chance to win it for the Azzurri, but went for style over substance.
- J. Sosa
Gave the Azzurri more spark when going forward, and showed nerves of steel to convert his penalty.
- P. Orlandoni
- M. Materazzi
Made a couple of timely clearances after his introduction and was dominant in the air.
- D. Santon
- Philippe Coutinho
On for Stankovic just after the hour mark. Didn't get into the game at all and found himself second best to Hamsik and Maggio more often than not.
