Had little to do for the first hour but proved solid as the visitors threatened as the game wore on. Had no chance despite guessing then right way for Zaza's penalty.
M. De Sciglio
Got forward with regularity on the right-hand side, though his final ball was sometimes lacking. Harshly sent off in the final minute as he seemed to get the ball for the penalty decision.
Put in some excellent tackles and made plenty of interceptions on the edge of the Milan box. Got himself sent off after two rash challenges either side of the break.
Carried the ball out of defence superbly as he looked to keep the home side on the front foot. Made a superb block to deny Zaza in the second half.
Struggled to get into the game as he was forced backwards by Berardi and was eventually replaced by Zaccardo in the second half.
Kept possession effectively in midfield and looked to combine with De Sciglio down the right-hand side. Smashed his only sight of goal over the top.
Broke the deadlock with a fantastic long-range effort but soon became rather anonymous with the game largely passing him by. Eventually replaced by El Shaarawy in the second half.
Showed quick feet on occasion but failed to really make an impact in terms of a telling pass or a shot on target. Did little to suggest he will get a permanent move in the summer.
Forced a good save out of Pomini in the first half and tried to keep the home side moving forwards whenever he got on the ball. Replaced in the second period.
N. de Jong
Got lucky as his free-kick took a wicked deflection for the second goal but shielded the home defence excellently. Filled in admirably at left-back after Mexes was sent off.
Showed good strength up against Cannavaro but showed a lack of composure in front of goal. Best finish came when he had already been flagged offside.
Made a number of excellent saves to keep Milan to just two goals and distributed well with both his feet and hands. An assured display.
Made some key tackles when up against Pazzini before being sent off late on for a challenge on El Shaarawy by the touchline.
Was forced into defensive mode throughout as De Sciglio looked to push him backwards. Dealt well enough with the marauding full-back.
Wasted a gilt-edged chance in the opening ten minutes as he volleyed over from eight yards. Also picked up a booking in the first half.
Never really able to get into the game as he struggled to shake off an injury picked up in the first half. Wasteful in possession before being substituted.
Showed plenty of promise bringing the ball forward and curled an effort wide in the first half. Also got back well to help out in defence.
Showed quick feet in midfield on occasion and was involved in most of Sassuolo's good play in the second half.
Saw the match pass him by as he struggled to stay close to Taarabt and was eventually replaced at half-time.
Missed a number of chances but managed to get himself in plenty of decent positions. Tucked away the last-minute penalty with an assured finish.
Wasteful with his shooting and was woeful as he took on most of the set-piece responsibilties. Did force two saves from Abbiati in the second half.
Managed to pick the ball up between midfield and defence a number of times and threaded the odd good ball through the defence.
Replaced Constant but was forced to fill in at centre-back after Mexes was given his marching orders.
S. El Shaarawy
Showed good pace on the left-hand side and was unlucky not to find the net on a couple of occasions.
Had little time to make an impact after replacing Kaka late on.
