Shots on Target
FULL-TIME MILAN 3-0 REGGINA. Well no surprises really Rossoneri found their rhythm in the second half and comfortably beat their weaker opponents courtesy of goals from Mario Yepes, Niang and Giampaolo Pazzini, to set up a tie with Juventus in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. Reggina will be perhaps disappointed with the scoreline and they even had a goal themselves ruled out for offiside. A valiant attempt by the Serie B strugglers but in the end the Rossoneri proved far too strong. That's it goodnight folks! Hope you enjoyed the coverage. Milan now hope to get their Serie A campaign back on track with a victory against Pescara this weekend.
90' + 2'
Ooooft. Good technique from Di Bari for the visitors, it opened up in front of him and from about 30 yards, he smashed a half-volley towards goal. In the end, it was comfortable for Abbiati but a strike on target nonetheless. Should be the last action of the match.
Emanuelson is nearly in there as the ball is played through. Facchin, who has prevented his side from suffering an even heavier defeat, comes to the rescue once more thwarting the midfielder.
Muntari wants to get in on the act and he finds space in the final third before hitting a shot towards goal. He doesn't connect with it properly and drags it wide.
@milan_moe says: "@CTTurnbull I have a good idea for Allegri whatever formation he was planning on playing in the second half play it in the first." Certainly can't argue with that they've hardly given their opponents a sniff in this second half!
Vito Di Bari
Goal Giampaolo Pazzini
Goal M'Baye Niang
Yellow Card Rodney Strasser
Fischnaller goes off, the youngster has looked lively if not slightly naive with some of his efforts. Full of energy and running, and hit a well-struck shot in the first half but has somewhat faded in this second.
Yellow Card Gianluca Freddi
Pazzini yet again denied by Facchin, who makes a wonderful one-handed save to palm the striker's half-volley away for a corner. The resultant set piece is whipped in and Zapata tries to emulate Yepes with a header of his own but the Reggina defence do well to deny the opportunity.
Well what a run by Emanuelson, to be honest he did well to stay on the pitch and not run into the stands at the pace he was going. The midfielder skipped past a couple of challenges, the ball however is never really under control and the move all falls apart at the crucial moment.
Pazzini, he deserves a goal for his effort tonight, is on the edge of the box and is looking to shape a shot beyond Facchin in goal, but the striker is crowded out by the defence and the ball is cleared.
Well that looked to be a promising move for Reggina. Campagnacci had found space on the left-hand side, didn't have that many options, decides to have a pop at goal and drags his shot from just outside the box, wide.
Bojan attempts to play in the lively Niang, who seems to be sporting a Balotelli haircut! But the ball is too hard for the Frenchman and it goes straight through to the goalkeeper.
OOH CHANCE FOR NIANG! The youngster just came on, was fed the ball by Pazzini, it's a brilliant first touch from Niang to get away from his marker but Facchin is alert to the danger, comes flying off his line to narrow the angle and the shot is blocked.
Robinho is replaced, the Brazilian has played not too badly created a few chances but Allegri is looking to see what the youngsters can do now.
@AndrewEdward442 eat your words! Yepes puts the Rossoneri in the lead with a fantastic header. Just the start Milan were looking for in this second half. The hosts are also looking to bring on 17-year-old Niang.
Goal Mario Yepes
GOOOAALLLL MILAN TAKE THE LEAD!! And it's Mario Yepes! Reggina thought they'd escaped as seconds earlier Robinho had his header cleared off the line. The ball was whipped back into the danger area and the Colombian rose high above the visitors' defence to fire a header past Facchin.
Milan have fashioned a couple of opportunities in this second half. Emanuelson whipped in a decent ball looking for Pazzini but the ball drifts just over the striker. Abate then attempts a through-ball into the box but it is mopped up by the Reggina defence.
We're back underway for this second half...
@AndrewEdward442 says: "@CTTurnbull cant understand allegri playing yepes. give a youngster a chance. everyone knows that yepes will be starting at weekend anyway" Surely a few youngsters would have been more motivated and desperate to impress?
@milan_moe says: "@CTTurnbull Great first half by Bojan creating many chances with intelligent passes I cant wait for SES-Bojan-Pato pair up young and deadly" Bojan certainly looks most likely to score for the hosts had a couple of great attempts at goal but thwarted by Facchin.
Remember you can get in touch at half-time. Send your thoughts to @CTTurnbull and the best ones will be posted. Your moment of fame on goal.com! What have you made of the first half so far?
MILAN 0-0 REGGINA Well it has been one-way traffic for most of the first half but the visitors actually had the ball in the back of the net through Bergameli midway through the first half with a stunning finish. Campagnacci and Flaschnaller have looked sharp when they counter for Reggina.Meanwhile, the Rossoneri have had plenty of shots at goal from outside the box but the only clear-cut chance they've created was Robinho through to Pazzini. So as it stands in this Coppa Italia last 16 tie. Milan 0-0 Reggina.
Yellow Card Francesco Bombagi
Milan struggling with the final ball they've had plenty of possession and around the box but when it comes to that last pass they just haven't been able to find it yet and Reggina look threatening on the counter.
Reggina have an opportunity to get the ball into the box. Campagnacci draws a foul of Zapata after some lovely play by Fischnaller to free his team-mate down the left wing.
Bojan drives at the defence and tries to play a one-two with Robinho on the edge of the box but the move doesn't come off, if the pass had been weighted better by Robinho, Bojan would have almost certainly been through on goal.
Robinho is next to try his luck for Milan. The Rossoneri are peppering the visitors' goal but that one from the Brazilian flies harmlessly wide.
Pazzini tries to add to his goal on Sunday against Torino here, with a lovely turn and shot from the free-kick. Moments later another ball is whipped in and the striker rises above the Reggina defence but his header is straight down the throat of Facchin.
The Rossoneri are still looking for this elusive first goal, they've had plenty of possession but are yet to turn it into goalscoring chances.
Approaching the half-hour mark. Milan applying heavy pressure to the visitors defence. Strasser finds Antonini, who then plays in Robinho to Abate on the other side but they can't find a way past a stubborn Amaranto backline.
GREAT CHANCE MILAN! Bojan again the architect curls in a lovely cross from the edge of the box and Yepes is only inches away from it at the far post.
GOOOOAALLL! Oh no wait offside Reggina! Well what a delicious ball that was in from the free-kick and Bergameli acrobatically attacks the ball and sees it hit the underneath of the bar and in. He starts to celebrate only to see the linesman with his flag up!
Well just over 20 minutes played and I tell you what, Reggina will be pleased with this so far. They've weathered the initial winter storm from Milan and have even fashioned a couple of opportunities of their own. Meanwhile, another dangerous ball in from the Rossoneri is snuffed out of the air by Facchin - at the second attempt mind you.
GREAT EFFORT! And it's by the visitors! Fischnaller spins away from his marker on the edge of the Milan box before unleashing a fierce shot which goes over the bar. Good attempt by the 17-year-old who I am led to believe is a Milan supporter!
Another chance for Milan is wasted! Bojan found space at the edge of the box and the white wall that is the Reggina defence stood firm blocking with every part of the body possible. Antonini then attempts a more incisive way through the visitors backline by dinking the ball over the top, but nobody reads his pass and it goes straight through to Facchin.
Oooohhh. Well that really should be 1-0 Milan! Robinho plays a delightful through-ball into the box and Pazzini is running onto it, fires a first-time shot but it's straight at Facchin. Best chance of the game so far.
Reggina on the counter, playing some nice one touch play. D'Alessandro attempts to thread a ball in behind the Milan defence,Zapata gets a toe on it to divert the ball through to Abbiati. Campagnacci is also given the Rossoneri something to think about at the back bending in a teasing ball moments ball later but nobody is there to convert the opportunity.
Robinho has looked lively in this first 10 minutes, seems to be able to find pockets of space whereever he goes. His instant control enables him to have an attempt at goal but again the Reggina defence block the shot and it spins away for a corner.
Well that was a nice couple of minutes for Reggina who seem to be growing in confidence after a shaky start. Castiglia and Bombagi were linking up with some nice football, the ball goes into the box but Yepes is there to clear the danger.
Reggina finally get out their half and they launch a long ball looking for the run of Campagnacci, the conditions don't help the striker as the ball skips harmlessly through to Abbiaiti who coolly finds Abate and Milan can start the attack again.
Robinho forces the first corner with a stinging drive from the edge of the box but the visitors, who are having to withstand some heavy pressure, manage to clear their lines yet again
well that was a half chance for Milan, Bojan was giving plenty of space in the final third and dinks a ball in behind the Reggina defence, Antonini at full stretch can't hook the ball back across and the ball goes out of play.
And we're underway here in San Siro and Milan keen to stamp their authority on the match launch an early attack down the right wing but it's cleared away by Bergameli.
And here's the Reggina line-up they make seven changes from the side that drew 2-2 with Brescia at the weekend. Reggina line-up: Facchin; Freddi, Ely, Bergamelli; D'Alessandro, Rizzo, Castiglia, Bombagi, Rizzato; Fischnaller, Campagnacci They look to be lining up in a 3-5-2 formation.
Well as you already know after Massimiliano Allegri revealed his team news earlier for this one. Here is how the hosts line-up. AC Milan: Abbiati; Abate, Zapata, Yepes, Antonini; Flamini, Strasser, Emanuelson; Bojan, Pazzini, Robinho Well Allegri is certainly not taking any chances here and has put a fairly strong squad to deal with the Amaranto. It's the first time the Rossoneri coach has went for the three-pronged attack of Bojan, Pazzini and Robinho. Antonini and Strasser, long term absentees return from injury while Abbiati who missed Sunday's clash returns in place of Marco Amelia.
