  • Inter have won the Derby della Madonnina with a second half goal from Diego Milito. It was a superb defensive performance, with Lucio and Samuel in particular, proving giants at the back. I've been Alex Mott, thanks for joining me.
  • 90' + 3'
And that's it! The referee blows for full time, and Inter have won 1-0.
  • 90' + 2'
    Yellow CardStephan El Shaarawy
  • 90' + 1'
    SubstitutionGiampaolo Pazzini Diego Forlán
  • 90'
Robinho tries a diagonal ball out to Abate on the right-hand side of the box, but the ball is overhit, and it runs away for a throw in.
  • 89'
    Yellow CardThiago Motta
  • 87'
Milan are really piling on the pressure now. A long ball from Nesta looks to find Ibra in the box, but, not for the first time tonight, the central defensive partnership of Lucio and Samuel clear the danger for Inter.
  • 84'
OOFFF. A mad few minutes there. First, a shot from Seedorf from about a mile out, is saved fantastically by Cesar. Then, Robinho goes through on goal, only for the ball to get stuck under his feet at the precise moment he wants to strike it, and Cesar comes out to smother the ball.
  • 83'
    SubstitutionAlexandre Pato Stephan El Shaarawy
  • 82'
It's getting a little bit tasty now. There's been a few rash challenges, and surprise surprise, it's Van Bommel who's in the middle of it all.
  • 80'
    SubstitutionAntonio Nocerino C. Seedorf
  • 79'
It's Zanetti who's pulling the strings now for Inter. He goes on a barnstorming run down the right, only to be stopped in putting in a cross by Emanuelson right by the corner flag.
  • 76'
    SubstitutionDiego Milito Wesley Sneijder
  • 76'
A good chance for Pato. Ibrahimovic puts in a magical ball from the left, but the step-over from Nocerino at the front post throws Pato, and he can't quite sort his feet out in time to get a shot away.
  • 74'
Emanuelson, in his naivety, tries to outsmart Zanetti on the left-hand side. But the grand old man of Italian football uses all his experience, and nicks the ball from the young Dutchman and clears.
  • 72'
Nagatomo ducks and weaves his way into the box, and shoots from just inside the area. It's straight at Abbiati though, and a great chance is squandered.
  • 70'
Oh that's poor. Motta gives it away, and Milan go upfield and win a corner. The ball is put in by Robinho towards Boateng at the near post, but his turn and shot is blocked by Chivu.
  • 68'
    Yellow CardAlessandro Nesta
  • 68'
Agada Joesph on Twitter still thinks Milan are going to win this despite going 1-0 down. They won't be troubling Cesar at the moment though, as Nesta gives away a free kick in the centre circle.
  • 67'
    SubstitutionRicardo Álvarez Cristian Chivu
  • 66'
    SubstitutionGianluca Zambrotta Robinho
  • 66'
It's Robinho, with his first touch of the game, who tries to flick the ball over the Inter defence and into the path of Pato. Unfortunately for him though, Samuel reads it, and clears the ball upfield.
  • 64'
    Yellow CardKevin-Prince Boateng
  • 63'
It's Ibra on the left-hand side of the box. And with a devilish turn of pace, gets to the byline and puts in a brilliant cross. A cross that Cesar just gets his fingers to, and tips it away.
  • 61'
It's Nagatomo this time with a long-range shot. And it's one that takes a deflection and goes out for a corner. A corner that's whipped in by Maicon, but the Milan defenders clear away the danger.
  • 58'
It's been, again, all Milan since the goal. But a mistake from Boateng gifts Alvarez the ball and he tries his luck from 30m with a shot low to Abbiati's left-hand side. The 'keeper does save, but that was the game in 20 seconds right there.
  • 55'
You've got to feel for Abate there. He completely missed the ball, and Milito, who's looked a bit off this season, strokes it home like it's 09/10 all over again.
  • 54'
    AssistJavier Zanetti
  • 54'
    GoalDiego Milito
GOOOAAALLLLL INTER. And you can completely ignore my previous stat on ball possession, because Inter have just taken the lead through Diego Milito. A mistake from Abate gives Miltio a clear run at goal, and the Argentinian, on the left-hand side of the box, strokes the ball past Abbiati, into the far corner of the net. 1-0.
  • 52'
In terms of ball possession tonight, Milan have had 21 minutes. Whereas Inter have had just nine. That, I think, says an awaful lot.
  • 51'
Pato does superbly to show Lucio a clean pair of heels, and plays in Boateng down the right. The Ghanian's cross can't quite find Ibra though, and again, Inter clear the danger.
  • 49'
It's been all Milan so far in this half. But for the first time, the Rossoneri win a corner. It's dreadful though, and Inter clear.
  • 47'
And immediately Milan win the ball back. Van Bommel gives it to Emanuelson inside their half, and the former Ajax man goes on a weaving run through the centre of the field. Unfortunately though, his pass to Ibrahimoivc is overhit and the ball runs away for a goal kick.
  • 46'
Here we go then The teams are back out for the second half, and it's Inter who will kick us off, going from right-to-left.
  • And do remember, if you have any comments on tonight's game, follow me @alexjmott, and give me your thoughts.
  • And that's it. Halftime. It's been a strange first half here at the San Siro. Milan have had the better of possession, but not really had any clear-cut chances. Whereas Inter didn't look threatening with the ball, yet created the best chance of the game. I'll be back in 15 minutes for the second half. Do. Not. Go. Anywhere.
  • 45'
OOHHH. And it's hit the bar. Van Bommel receives the ball on the edge of the area from Pato, and with his first touch fires the ball through a crowd of bodies, and onto the bar. So unlucky from the Dutchman.
  • 43'
Alvarez, who has been quiet up to this point, is seeing an awful lot of the ball at the end of this half. This time, the summer signing tries a shot from the edge of the area, but Silva is there to block.
  • 40'
OHHH. The best chance of the game so far. A cross from the left by Nagatomo finds Alvarez all alone at the far post, and with two touches, takes the ball down, then shoots at goal, only for Abbiati to save with his legs. That was *the* chance.
  • 37'
Abate goes on his first lung-busting run of the match down the right, but a poor touch from the Italian means Nagatomo has no problem in dispossessing him.
  • 35'
A hopeful long ball from Maicon goes over the head of Nesta, but not quite far enough to reach Abbiati. There's a slight moment of confusion as Pazzini chases down the loose ball, but eventually Abbiati claims the ball, and calms everyone down.
  • 32'
Well. That was a terrible challenege from Lucio. Ibrahimovic outpaces him to the ball on the left-flank, and the Brazilian comes flying in late, taking Ibra with him. It's naturally a free kick, and the whipped ball finds the head of Ibra, who puts it over the bar.
  • 29'
Milan, once again, are taking a few moments just to calm this game down and play it at their pace. And by 'their pace', I mean 'deathly slow'.
  • 27'
It's Pazzini with the ball on the left-flank, but T. Silva manages to get the ball off him, and goes on a marauding run upfield. He evades one, then two challenges, and releases the ball to Ibra on the left-hand side. The controversial Swede tries to get past Samuel, but the Argentinian nicks the ball off him and clears.
  • 25'
The ball is straight up the other end, and Milan instantly win a corner. A one-two between Pato and Ibra sees the Brazilian try to put a cross in, but Samuel was there to clear the ball behind. From the subsequet set-piece: Emanuelson whips it in, but again, the Inter defence is first to it, and they clear away the danger.
  • 23'
Great play by Maicon there, as he plays a one-two with Pazzini on the edge of the area and fires in a low cross towards Milito. Luckily for Milan though, Nesta is there to cover, and the Rossoneri escape.
  • 21'
It's a corner to Milan, and it's clearly a routine they've been working on in training as Emanuelson pulls the ball back to Boateng on the edge of the area. The Ghanian can't quite connect though, and he pulls his first time shot over the bar.
  • 19'
Emanuelson takes the ball from Abate's clearance and manages to win a free kick 35m from goal after a tustle with Samuel. The ball is whipped in by Van Bommel, but it doesn't beat the first man, and Inter clear.
  • 17'
It's another free kick to Inter on the right-hand touchline, and again, Maicon takes it. This time though, there's no disallowed goal as Abate managed to head the ball away.
  • 15'
Ilori Oluropo on Twitter thinks tonight's game will finish 2-2. Although with defending like that from Zanetti, we could be in for a 0-0 I'm afraid. The 37-year-old tracks Nocerino all the way down the left-hand flank, and manages to poke the ball from under the Italians feet before he can do anything with the ball.
  • 12'
The game has certainly calmed down now, and Milan look to assert their dominance with the ball. They're cooly stroking the ball between themselves at the back, and although it's nice to watch, there's not an awful lot I can say to make it sound exciting.
  • 10'
And Ibra has the first shot of the game! A long diagonal ball from Zambrotta finds the Swede on the edge of the area. And with two touches he gets away from Nagatomo and fires in a shot straight at Cesar.
  • 8'
This game's started at 100mph, and that pace unfortunately catches Zanetti out as he gives away a free kick 40m from goal. The ball from Van Bommel is poor though, and Inter clear into touch.
  • 6'
It's Milan now. And Boateng, who has been absolutely superb so far this season, whips in a cross from the right towards Ibrahimovic, but Lucio stands firm and clears the ball away.
  • 4'
It's an Inter free kick, wide on the right flank. 25m from goal. Maicon whips it in and MOTTA SCORES!!!!!! No. No. Offside. Motta was standing in an offside position, and his header won't count.
  • 3'
Milan immediately regain possession, and win a free kick in the centre circle. Van Bommel takes, spraying it wide to Zambrotta. Lucio, gets up and wins the ball off the full-back though, and canters up field with the ball. The big Brazilian can't quite make the most of it though, and Milan clear into touch.
  • 2'
And Milan are keeping the ball directly from kick off, passing along their backline. Nesta plays it down the left to Zambrotta. He gives it to Pato on the left flank, but his jaunt in-field is stopped by Maicon and Inter have the ball for the first time.
  • 1'
And we're off. Milan, in their traditional red and black, kick off, shooting from right-to-left.
  • First though, a minute's silence for the victims of yesterday's tragic maritime accident off the coast of Tuscany.
  • Here we go then. The teams are leaving the tunnel, and the roof is lifted off the San Siro. (Yes, yes. I realise there isn't one.)
  • Both sides are in fantastic form, and neither will want to go out into the city tomorrow having lost the biggest game of the season so far. It promisies to be a cracker, and it's only moments away.
  • Again. If you want to get involved tonight, do send me your predictions/musings/abuse over @alexjmott on Twitter. All messages are gratefully received, unless you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
  • There's five minutes to go until kick off here in Milan, and the San Siro is alive with noise. DO NOT GO ANYWHERE!
  • And Inter: (4-4-2) J. Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Samuel, Nagatomo; Zanetti, T. Motta, Cambiasso, Alvarez; Milito, Pazzini.
  • And here are the players that hope to add to that illustrious history. First, the home team, AC Milan: (4-3-1-2) Abbiati; Abate, Nesta, T. Silva, Zambrotta; Boateng, Van Bommel, Nocerino; Emanuelson; Pato, Ibrahimovic.
  • For you fact fans out there: tonight is the 205th derby, with Milan just pipping Inter with 72 wins to 71. Weirdly though, both sides have scored 279 goals each in those games. The last six derbies have seen Inter win three and Milan win three. But the last time the Nerazzurri beat their inter-city rivals was two years ago in the winter of 2010.

  • It is undoubtedly the biggest game in Italian football, and some may say, the biggest in world football. It's a game the divides a city and a nation. And tonight, could go a long way to deciding where the Scudetto will end up in May. I'm Alex Mott, and as always, if you want to get involved tonight, you can contact me @alexjmott on Twitter.
  • Buona sera, good evening and welcome. It's time for the trash talking, petty feuds and inescapable media hype to stop. For now is tonight's headline act. It's the race to sign Carlos Tevez der.......ummm, no. Sorry. For now is tonight's headline act: the Derby della Madonnina. The Milan derby.
