FULL TIME! Manchester City's hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero wins the game for the Blues but equally impressive yet again was playmaker David Silva, the Spaniard pulling the strings in attack. Wigan can have no complaints about the result but defended bravely in the first half and Roberto Martinez will know that against lesser sides they will certainly cause problems.
Clichy clips the ball toward the back post and in the incoming Mario Balotelli but Al-Habsi manages to take it away from the Italian's head.
Nasri does well to run into space in the Wigan box but Adam Johnson can only scoop his cut back wide of the post.
City patiently probing for the fourth but Micah Richards can only shoot high and wide when found in space in the Wigan box.
Wigan looking to get some consolation but Micah Richards, who has been everywhere today, ushers Moses out of touch brilliantly.
The match has settled down somewhat as Wigan look to deprive City of the possession and keep the scoreline respectable. Roberto Mancini replaces Yaya Toure with Razak.
Moses tries to salvage some pride for Wigan but his shot from the edge of the box is brilliantly blocked and falls to Joe Hart.
It's all City now and Micah Richards does well to keep a long pass in and divert it across goal. Unfortunately for the hosts Mario Balotelli can't reach the ball as it fizzes across the six yard box to safety.
Should have been four. Kompany manages to slide the ball through the eye of a needle to find Adam Johnson with just the keeper but to beat but the winger can't manage it, weakly sliding it into Al-Habsi's grasp.
Franco Di Santo
Aguero is brought off to a huge ovation for Mario Balotelli. The Argentinian has lit up the Premier League since his arrival and fully deserves the adoration from City fans.
GOAL! And it's a hat-trick for Sergio Aguero. David Silva somehow manages to shirk the challenges of three Wigan defenders and slides in Aguero to slide the ball into the right hand corner yet again. Magic from City.
City fans break into a rousing rendition of 'Blue Moon' after finishing their famous 'Poznan' celebration and they have every right to be pleased after seeing their team effectively end Wigan's hopes in this match and score the goal they had long been threatening.
GOAL! He's going to get a shedload this year isn't he? A deft backheel by David Silva finds Samir Nasri in space behind the midfield and he only needs one touch to slide in Sergio Aguero who sweeps it home with aplomb. A truly beautiful goal.
Victor Moses cuts in well from the right and finds Rodallega, his first touch bounces up allowing him to power it at the City goal but straight at Joe Hart. If it had been anywhere else it would have really tested the City keeper.
Play pauses for a moment to allow James Milner to receive treatment for a pretty nasty looking cut on his head. Wigan getting ready to make a change...
David Silva receives the ball in his default position between the Wigan midfield and back four and almost completes a brilliant running one-two with Clichy but cannot reach the Frenchman's cross.
Great holdup play by Di Santo allows him to lay the ball off for Rodallega to cross. His ball in is promising but Moses can only head it weakly to Joe Hart under pressure.
Aguero works space in the box after some intricate passing by City but his shot bounces wide with the Argentinian claiming that it was handled by the defender.
Rodallega wasteful at the edge of the City box as his chip to the far post is too long and is collected easily by Joe Hart. Wigan need to make some of these chances count.
David Silva swings in a tempting ball from the right but Joleon Lescott is offiside in attempting to meet it. Pressure relieved from Wigan.
Same again this half then? Carlos Tevez does well to jink into space in the Wigan box but his shot across Al-Habsi is well saved.
City get us back under way and will hope they can capitalise on their dominance in the second half.

HALF TIME! The referee draws a close to an entertaining half here with City enjoying a 1-0 lead. Wigan will take heart from their defensive efforts thus far and threat on the counter-attack but with City being able to call on Dzeko and Balotelli from the bench the signs don't look good.
Di Santo and Moses finding themselves with a thankless task today as they are yet again crowded out by the City defence without any Wigan support to speak of. The assistant referee signalling two minutes added at the end of this half.
Wigan go close again but Di Santo can't poke the ball beyond Joe Hart after getting on the end of Rodallega's deflected shot.
More patient passing from City and more resilient defence from Wigan results in Yaya Toure blasting an effort over in frustration. Despite the scoreline Wigan have defended admirably so far and will be confident they could nick a goal here.
True to form however, City almost instantly reply at the other end. Carlos Tevez scoops a pass over the Wigan defence which almost meets with James Milner's outstretched foot, the England midfielder just falls short however and Al-Habsi gratefully collects.
City almost made to pay for their profligacy as Victor Moses heads a free kick just wide of Joe Hart's goal. This is by no means a comfortable lead for the hosts.
More brilliance from Al-Habsi as he touches Joleon Lescott's header onto the post. The goalkeeper has been one of the few shining lights of Wigan's performance thus far.
City just don't want to bag that second as Carlos Tevez drags another long range effort wide of the post. Roberto Martinez will be hoping his side can hold out till half time.
Wigan showing they can still get back in this. Franco Di Santo is played in one on one but his control lets him down allowing Joe Hart to collect. A look at the linesman shows that it wouldn't have mattered anyway as the young striker had strayed offside.
Aguero goes close again as his effort from the edge of the box just curls beyond the right hand post. How long can Wigan keep the deficit at just 1?
So close again for City! Carlos Tevez plays a beautiful through ball to Micah Richards with the outside of his boot but the defender somehow contrives to strike the underside of the bar with only the keeper to beat from five yards.
Wigan can take some encouragement from the past few minutes. Boyce's cross fizzes across the City area and Joleon Lescott is lucky to avoid diverting it into his own net as he throws a foot out.
Wigan get a rare chance to put the ball in the City box with a corner but it is easily repelled by City. The hosts dominant in every aspect so far.
The corner is headed away to the feet of Adam Johnson at the edge of the area but he can't keep his half volley down and slices it over the bar.
City are camped at the edge of the Wigan box here as Lopez just manages to block Adam Johnson's cross after a nice step over by the winger.
Wonderful effort from Aguero as he nearly caps a wonderful passing move with a bending effort which just passes the far post.
Penalty saveAli Al Habsi
Missed PenaltyCarlos Tévez
PENALTY SAVED! Carlos Tevez, looking to atone for his restless summer passes the ball tamely to the bottom left of Al-Habsi's goal and the Wigan keeper is easily equal to it. Can Wigan make them pay?
PENALTY. David Silva is played into the Wigan box yet again but just as the ball looks to be getting away from him he somehow manages to beat Wigan's Lopez to the challenge and is brought down clumsily for a penalty.
City controlling the match here, not giving the visitors a second's peace with their pressing and then breaking with impressive speed.
GOAL! It was coming. Former captain Carlos Tevez does well to slide David Silva into acres of space in the Wigan box but the forward elects not to shoot, unselfishly passing it onto Sergio Aguero who slides it coolly into the bottom left hand corner of the Wigan net.
Brilliant save...or on a second viewing, not. Panic in the Wigan box as a cross is headed directly in the air and allowed to bounce. Kompany's headed effort from just 5 yards seems to have been repelled brilliantly by Al-Habsi but it actually deflected off the head of Joleon Lescott and over the bar.
They're knocking on the door nice and early here, City. Some nice pass and move work finds David Silva alone at the edge of the box and the Spaniard has only one thing on his mind. Wigan keeper Al-Habsi blocks the shot well but City's pressure is already beginning to tell on Wigan's defence.
Comfortable start for the hosts. They have repelled Wigan's counter attacks with ease thus far and have already looked threatening at the other end through Silva, Aguero and Johnson.
Rodallega and Di Santo looking to link up front but the strength of Joleon Lescott proves too much for the inexperienced forward and he clears the danger well.
Early chance for City. Great work down the left by Gael Clichy finds David Silva whose shot is blocked well but it rebounds back to the feet of the Frenchman who scoops it delightfully to Adam Johnson at the back post. The winger has space and time on his favoured foot, but disappointingly hooks it over the Wigan bar.
City looking to make an early impression as Adam Johnson swings in a ball for the right that just eludes the touch of the lurking Carlos Tevez.
Wigan get us under way here to the strains of 'Blue Moon' from the City supporters.
Jonathan Birchall live from Eastlands: "Good afternoon from the Etihad Stadium for Manchester City’s clash with Wigan Athletic. Turmoil in the upper echelons of the club following the resignation of chief executive on Friday has done nothing to dampen the mood of the home fans this afternoon with scarves bearing the face of Kun Aguero and Samir Nasri in vogue outside Eastlands. Roberto Mancini’s side will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the season with a victory over a Latics side that are also unbeaten, but news of Carlos Tevez getting a starting berth ahead of the league’s leading scorer Edin Dzeko may be seen as somewhat of a risk. Nasri is also absent from the side, most likely as a result of the broken bone in his hand picked up on international duty."
Wigan will enter the game be hoping that young forward Franco Di Santo can continue the form that saw him bag two goals against QPR last time out.
The man who was this week stripped of the City captaincy, Carlos Tevez, makes a return to the starting line up replacing the in-form Edin Dzeko. Vincent Kompany is the man who inherits the armband from the Argentinian forward.
Wigan Athletic: Al Habsi; Boyce, Caldwell, Lopez, Figueroa; Rodallega, Diame, Watson, McArthur; Moses, Di Santo. Subs: Kirkland, McCarthy, Crusat, Gomez, Sammon, Jones, Stam.
Manchester City: Hart; Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy; Milner, Toure Yaya, Johnson, Silva; Aguero, Tevez. Subs: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Dzeko, Nasri, Toure, Balotelli, Razak.
Welcome to Goal.com's live commentary of Manchester City vs Wigan Athletic at Eastlands. The hosts will be hoping to continue their 100% start to the Premier League season today against a side who have also yet to be beat.
