A superb stop from Coutinho in the first half kept the scores level and his confidence grew from there. Was able to make a couple of other decent stops as Liverpool chased the game.
Looked the most flustered he has for a while as he struggled at times with Coutinho's trickery. Still able to cause problems going forward.
Caught out by the pace of Liverpool's attacks at times though he did aid Kompany in limiting Suarez's influence.
Used physical stature to deal with Sterling on occasion but was sometimes undone by the pace of the winger. Contributed in attack on occasion.
A colossus at the back for the home side as he won umpteen headers and made sure Suarez couldn't add to his goal tally. A constant threat from set-pieces, scoring another crucial header.
Gave the ball away more often than many are used to and couldn't quite make the bustling runs that are associated with him. Showed some nice touches.
Another who wasn't quite able to stamp his mark on the game, but the odd touch and mazy dribble reminded fans of what he can do.
One of his quieter matches on the left, though a superb pass set Navas free for City's second goal. Was substituted in the second half.
His pace on the right was a constant thorn in Liverpool's side, with his assist for Negredo goal the perfect illustration of that. Got back well to help Zabaleta in defence.
Looked less assured than normal in his sitting role, though he did carry the ball well in an attacking sense. Not a horrendous display by any means.
Caused no end of problems for Liverpool defence despite playing up front on his own. His pace and power were consistently evident while his clever finish may have fooled Mignolet.
Could have done better with Kompany header but most certainly should have kept out Negredo's effort on the cusp of half-time. His most disappointing showing since his summer move from Sunderland.
Struggled to get into the game as an attacking force though performed his defensive duties well enough. Still not on top form.
Grew into the match after a shaky start up against the pace of Navas. Put in a couple of decent crosses but will remain behind Flanagan in pecking order.
The best of Liverpool's backline in terms of positional sense, though he struggled with the physicality of Negredo at times. Lost composure in the second half and gave the ball away.
Caught out of position a couple of times though made up for it with some last-ditch blocks. Allowed Kompany to get in front of him for City's first-half equaliser.
His pace caused all sorts of problems and he was unlucky to see the flag go up when clean through in the first half. Good trickery set up Coutinho's goal, though his miss late on will haunt him.
His late runs caused problems early on and only a poor first touch denied him a chance in first half. Faded as the game went on and possibly should have done better on the line for Kompany's goal.
Given the responsibility of controlling the midfield by Rodgers and he certainly did that. Kept the ball well without really playing any killer passes. Unfortunate to find himself in the way of Suarez's goalbound effort in second half.
Had difficulty trying to halt the incisive City counterattacks though he did prove a decent outlet as the visitors looked to keep possession.
Liverpool's most potent attacking threat as he caused Zabaleta more problems than most on the left. Took his goal well as it looked like Sterling was running out of room.
Unable to get a real sight of goal as he was marshalled well by Kompany. Did most of his good work from deep as he created plenty for others to feed on.
